Recording Features

LCD Monitor: The FujiFilm FinePix F60fd digital camera features a 3", 230k pixel, Amorphous silicon TFT color LCD monitor with a frame coverage of approximately 100%. The LCD monitor features adjustable brightness settings.

12 MegaPixel CCD: The FinePix F60fd digital camera utilizes a 1/1.6" Super CCD HR with primary color filter. It features 12-million effective pixels.

Fujinon Lens: The F60fd digital camera is equipped with a Fujinon 3x optical zoom lens with a 35mm format equivalent of 35mm-105mm in normal mode or 36mm-108mm at 12M 3:2 image quality. The digital camera also features a digital zoom of approximately 8.2x  for a total zoom of 24.6x when combined with the camera's optical zoom.

Optical Image Stabilization: The FinePix F60fd features optical image stabilization with CCD shift. There are dual image stabilization modes, allowing you to choose whether stabilization is performed continuously or only when the shutter button is pressed.

Compatible Media: The camera is equipped with an internal 25MB flash memory for capturing still images or movies. In addition, the FinePix F60fd features a memory card slot which allows the use of an xD Picture Card (16MB-2GB), SD (512MB-2GB) or SDHC (4GB-8GB). You can copy pictures between the internal memory and a memory card.

Image Size And Capacity: The F60fd offers six still image sizes to choose from: 4000 x 3000 (12M), 4224 x 2816 (3:2), 2848 x 2136 (6M), 2048 x 1536 (3M), 1600 x 1200 (2M), or 640 x 480 (0.3M); and two movie sizes to choose from: 640 x 480 (25fps) or 320 x 240 (25fps). The following tables show the recording time or number of pictures available at different image qualities and media sizes:

Note: A movie recording will stop automatically when a movie file becomes approximately 2GB.

Continuous Shooting Modes: The FujiFilm F60fd's continuous shooting modes allow you to record multiple frames while the shutter button is held down. The focus and exposure are set in the first frame of the series and cannot be changed. You cannot use the flash in this mode. The continuous shooting modes include:

• Continuous--Long Period: While the shutter is pressed, the camera takes pictures until the shutter button is released or the memory is full. All images are recorded.
• Continuous--Final 12: While the shutter is pressed, the camera takes up to 40 pictures up to 5 frames per second (fps), but only the last 12 shots are recorded.
• Continuous--Final 3: While the shutter is pressed, the camera takes up to 40 pictures up to 2 fps, but only the last 3 are recorded.
• Continuous--Top 12: While the shutter is pressed, the camera takes up to 12 pictures up to 5 fps.
• Continuous--Top 3: While the shutter is pressed, the camera takes up to 3 pictures up to 2 fps.

Focus Range: The digital camera uses both Single and Continuous Auto-focus systems, offering a normal focusing range of 1.5' to infinity (wide angle) and 2' to infinity (telephoto). For extreme closeups, you can use the Macro mode with a focusing range of 2.8" to 2'7" at wide angle, and 1' to 2'7" at telephoto.

AF/AE Lock: Use AF/AE Lock to guarantee best result when shooting a subject that is not suited for auto-focusing such as very shiny objects or fast moving subjects.

AF-Assist Illuminator: Use this illuminator to focus on the subject in dimly lit condition. When pressing the shutter button of the camera down halfway, the camera fires the AF-assist illuminator (orange) while focusing on your subject.

Face Detection With Auto Red Eye Removal: The F60fd features Intelligent Face Detection which identifies human subjects' faces in the frame and determines the optimal focus and exposure settings for best results. The Face Detection technology is driven by a newly developed LSI chip combined with patented software. Furthermore, the intelligent software algorithms can detect red-eye and correct it in-camera. Red-eye removal can be turned on or off.

Intelligent Flash: When the flash is used, the camera's Intelligent Flash system instantly analyzes the scene based on such factors as the brightness of the subject, its position in the frame, and its distance from the camera. Flash output and sensitivity are adjusted to ensure that the main subject is correctly exposed while preserving the effects of ambient background lighting, even in dimly-lit indoor scenes. The camera's built-in flash has a range of 2' to 14' at wide angle and 2' to 7'10" at telephoto. When the camera is in Macro mode, the flash range is 1' to 2'7". The F60fd features the following Flash modes.

• Auto: the flash fires when required; recommended for most situations
• Fill Flash: the flash fires whenever a picture is taken
• Flash Off: flash does not fire even when the subject is poorly lit; use of a tripod is recommended
• Slow Sync: capture both the main subject and the background when shooting at night; use of a tripod is also recommended

  Note: If Auto Red Eye Removal is turned on, it will activate in Auto, Fill Flash and Slow Sync modes.

Shooting Modes: The camera offers various auto, scene, and manual shooting modes to choose from according to the scene or type of subject you are shooting.

• Auto: for easy point-and-shoot style photography with crisp, clear snapshots.
• Scene Recognition: By pointing the camera at the subject, the camera automatically analyzes and selects the most appropriate setting: Portrait, Landscape, Night, or Macro. When the subject cannot be analyzed by the camera, the Auto Mode will be set.
• Natural & Flash (Dual Shot Mode): In this mode, the camera takes two shots each time the shutter button is pressed: one without the flash to preserve natural lighting, followed immediately by a second shot with the flash.
• Natural Light: This mode captures natural light indoors, under low light or where the flash cannot be used. The flash turns off and sensitivity is raised to reduce blur.
• Scene Position Modes: The camera offers the following scene position modes to choose from:
  • Portrait: for soft-toned portraits with natural skin tones
  • Portrait Enhancer: for a smooth skin effect in soft-focus portraits.
  • Landscape: for crisp, clear daylight shots for buildings and landscapes.
  • Sport: when photographing moving subjects.
  • Night: allows shutter speeds between 1 and 8 seconds to be used to record night and twilight scenes.
  • Fireworks: to shoot fireworks. It is effective for taking more vivid shots of fireworks with shutter speeds between 4 seconds and 1/2 second.
  • Sunset: to record the vivid colors in sunrises and sunsets.
  • Snow: for crisp, clear shots that capture the brightness of scenes dominated by shining white snow.
  • Beach: for crisp, clear shots that capture the brightness of the sunlit beaches.
  • Museum: when flash photography is prohibited or the sound of the shutter may be unwelcome.
  • Party: to capture indoor background lighting under low-light conditions.
  • Flower: for vivid close-ups of flowers. The camera focuses in the macro range and the flash turns off automatically.
  • Text: takes clear pictures of text or drawings in print. The camera focuses in the macro range.
• Aperture Priority AE: This is an automatic mode that allows you to set the aperture. Use this mode to have the area in front of and behind the subject out of focus (large aperture) or have both near and far subject in focus (small aperture)
• Shutter Priority AE: This is an automatic mode that allows you to set the shutter speed. Use this mode to freeze a moving subject (fast shutter speed) or convey the impression of movement (slow shutter speed).
• Manual: Choose this mode for complete control of shooting settings, including exposure compensation, metering, white balance, and AF mode.

Movie Mode: Use this mode to record Motion JPEG movies with monaural sound. You must zoom before shooting because you cannot zoom while shooting. Two movie quality selections are available: 320 x 240 for longer movies and 640 x 480 for better quality. The frame rate is 25 frames per second. You can shoot a movie until the file reaches a maximum size of 2 GB.

Exposure Compensation: You can use exposure compensation when photographing very bright, very dark or high-contrast subjects. The camera's exposure compensation can be adjusted from -2 EV to +2 EV in increments of 1/3EV.

White Balance: You can use the camera's White Balance settings to obtain images with natural colors no matter the light source. You can choose from the following: Auto, Custom, Direct Sunlight, Shade, Daylight (fluorescent), Warm White (fluorescent), Cool White (Fluorescent), or Incandescent Lighting.

ISO: This function controls the camera's sensitivity to light; higher values can be used to reduce blur when lighting is poor. The digital camera's sensitivity can be set to ISO 64, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 (images 6M or smaller), 6400 (images 3M or smaller), Auto, Auto (400), Auto (800), Auto (1600).

Metering Mode: The F60fd digital camera offers 256-segment TTL (through the lens) metering with three metering modes: Multi, Spot, and Average.

FinePix Color: This feature allows the camera to enhance contrast and color saturation or take pictures in black and white. You can choose from F-Standard (standard contrast and saturation), F-Chrome (Vivid contrast and color), or F-B&W (black and white color).

Playback, Editing And Printing Functions

Playback Zoom: This function allows you to zoom in on images displayed in single-frame playback. Once the image is zoomed in, you can pan through the image horizontally and vertically. The zoom scale depends upon the file size of the image taken: from approximately 2.5x for 1600 x 1200 pictures to approximately 5.1x for 3264 x 2448 pictures.

Trimming: Once you have zoomed in or out of an image, you can record a new image at a smaller file size. This feature allows you to reduce large image files down to 0.3M images for use in e-mails or on a website.

Image Rotate: By default, pictures taken in tall orientation are displayed in wide orientation. Use this option to display pictures in the correct orientation on the camera's LCD monitor. Images can be rotated 90-degrees clockwise or counterclockwise.

Multi-Frame Playback: In addition to single frame playback, the camera allows you to view 2, 9, or 100 images at once on the LCD monitor.

Slide Show Playback: You can view still pictures in an automated slide-show on the camera's LCD monitor with selectable transition effects: Normal, Fade in, Intelligent Face Detection (zooms in on faces), and Multiple images.

Sort-By-Date: You can choose this function to view pictures taken on a selected date.

Movie Playback: You can playback movies you have recorded on the camera on the unit's LCD monitor or viewfinder. The camera offers the following video playback functions - Play, Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, Rewind and Skip. The volume of the movie can be adjusted during playback.

Erase/Protect: You can delete unwanted still pictures and movies, increasing the amount of space available on the memory card or in the camera's internal memory. You can erase one image at a time or all images. You can protect specific images so they can't be deleted accidentally.

TV Playback: The digital camera features a proprietary A/V port and comes supplied with a composite video/mono audio cable which can be used to connect the camera to your television for playback of still images and movies on your TV screen.

Voice Memo: This function allows you to add a 30 second voice memo to a still picture recording. Voice memos are recoded as PCM-format WAV files with a maximum size of about 480 KB. Volume of the camera's built-in speaker can be adjusted while playing back voice memos. Voice memos cannot be added to movies or protected pictures.

Red Eye Removal: You can create and save copies of images with reduced red eye.

PictBridge Compatible: The F60fd camera is PictBridge compatible and can be connected directly to a PictBridge compatible printer via USB so you can print pictures without being connected to or having to copy pictures to a computer.

DPOF Compatible: DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) is a standard which allows pictures to be printed from "print orders" stores in the internal memory of the camera or on a memory card. The information in the order includes the pictures to be printed and the number of copies of each picture..

Battery Information

Battery: The FujiFilm F60fd digital camera operates using the supplied NP-50 rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. The battery is charged in the supplied BC-50 battery charger. The NP-50 has a battery life of approximately 230 frames. Charging time in the BC-50 charger is approximately 140 minutes.

Auto Power Off: When this function is active and the camera remains unused for 2 or 5 minutes, it automatically turns itself off.

Optional AC Adapter: The F60fd is compatible with FujiFilm's AC-5VX AC power adapter (sold separately).

Supplied Software

FinePixViewer Software: The supplied FinePixViewer software can be used to copy pictures to a computer, where they can be stored, viewed, organized, and printed. On the supplied disc, there are two versions of the software: Version 5.5 for Windows, and Version 3.6 for Mac OS X 10.3-10.4.
