Center channel speaker mount

Written By Jeff, Boulder, CO on Tuesday, June 04, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used for holding center channel speaker above TV. installed easy. We are using the minimum extension and were able to mount on studs and fit the speaker nicely. Can only use stud install if your component that sits on it is wide enough.
Pros:
Holds a simple speaker or component.

Center Speaker Brackets

Written By JM, Scottsdale, AZ on Thursday, August 02, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for support brackets to mount my Cambridge SoundWorks center speak above the LED television that is housed in a wall of built-in cabinets. I didn't want to just lay it in the cabinet behind the TV, and upper and lower cabinets had doors so I couldn't "hide" it. So, rather than build a shelf or housing for it out of compatible wood, I went with the very sturdy brackets that very easily supported the 18 lb. horizontal center speaker box. It integrates really well with the cabinetry, sits behind and slightly above the flat panel so that the speaker wires are virtually invisible, and I'll never have to worry about the brackets bending or coming loose from the cabinet housing.

The Product does exactly what I need. It was the least expensive and yet a relatively elegant solution, and took me only 15 minutes to mount inside the cabinet. The center speaker's weight and size easily fit within the parameters of the support bracket engineering. I really like the product and what

Pros:
Sturdy for the speaker weight and size of center speaker that I have mounted; Easy to install; relatively "invisible" from our theater seating in the front of the built-in cabinets; solid engineering for my needs.
Cons:
The only challenge is getting the mounting of two brackets in exact alignment so the speaker won't look like it is "listing" left or right. But, a good laser level tool can obviate that problem very easily.

Pinpoint AM15

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall a really solid product for light center channels. Nice look as your center channel will be "hanging" on the wall effect. Recommended Installation: If mounted on drywall..Go to Home Depot / Lowes and buy some dry wall screws/brackets that are rated 30-60lbs and throw away the hardware that came with the product.
Pros:
Great option if you do not have a heavy speaker. I like the rubber "dots" that come with the brackets to offset any vibrations that could affect the sound.
Cons:
Need correct drywall screws/mounts to install. Original hardware is for hanging pictures and not speakers.

Doing what I expected

Written By SD, Montreal, QC on Thursday, December 08, 2011

The product is very easy to install and is working for various sizes of speakers. It worked very well for my Klipsch RC-52.
Pros:
I have the choice between putting the TV on the wall, or the central speaker. The last solution was the best for me (faster, cheaper and better for comfort)
Cons:
The fact that it took me so long to find it

Right idea, disappointing results

Written By JW, Redmond, WA on Monday, May 23, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

On paper the AM15's looked like the perfect solution for my application. I mounted a VCC-1 center channel speaker using the AM15's. I have the mounts extended to 11" from wall-to-tip. The VCC-1 weighs 23 lbs., well within the 33 lb manufacturer limit. Unfortunately, the mounts are not strong enough to hold the speaker at a perfect 90 degrees, perpendicular from the wall. The speaker sags enough that it is easily visible from the side. A gusset would have easily prevented this issue. In addition, the little sound isolation "dots" did not stick to the metal supports. I had to use adhesive to get them to stick. The VCC-1 is absolutely awesome!

Worked for me!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very impressive design, very sturdy. I have a reasonably heavy center channel
speaker, which due to room characteristics, I had to mount *above* my plasma
(yikes!!!). The Pinpoint answered my needs -- it is highly customizable to the
depth and width of the speakers and the position of the wall studs.
Recommended!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very impressed with the stoutness of this bracket. I actually, because of the
heavy duty building of this bracket, was surprised that it was not rated for
higher weight holding power than it was !! Will buy again for sure !! Great non-
obtrusive design too.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great for hanging up heavy CC speakers over wall screens. They don't blend in very well
when you have to use them on the top of the wall mounted movie screen. However, the
speaker it supports is more that 20 lbs. and it is the only hanger I have been able to locate
needed to hold up the powerful sound producing CC speaker. That makes it a top of the line
wall bracket for my large theater room using a 133 inch projector screen.

Pinpoint AM15

Written By Anonymous, Springfield, MO on Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Solid Product. Follow the instructions and be sure to get both of them into studs(so your center channel needs to be at least 16" across), and you are golden. Mine is solid as a rock, and i have no fear of my 30lb speaker falling. The mount disappears behind the speaker, and gives a seamless look so long as you attach them correctly. DIY'ers need a level, a tape measure, drill and stud finder, and thats it. I would think they would be a little to heavy duty to mount in just drywall so be sure to get them into studs or masonry. Would recommend to anyone looking for a solid, straight forward center channel mount.
