Our take on the Kicker 07DCVR122

What could look better in your trunk or cargo area than a pair of silver-colored Kicker CompVR 12" subs in a carpeted box sporting a killer logo? Kicker's 07DCVR122 ported enclosure comes ready to make some serious bass waves in your ride.

The two CompVR 12" subs feature hard-hitting polypropylene cones and double-stitched Santoprene™ rubber surrounds for extended excursion. The unique SoloKon™ design improves the cone's stability, and the perimeter venting system helps cool the sub's internal parts during demanding performances.

Sturdy 3/4" medium-density fiberboard ensures long-lasting performance from the enclosure. You'll get hassle-free connection to your amp with the single set of speaker terminals, and the 2-ohm impedance draws more power out of your mono sub amplifier.

Enclosure

Features

Cone Materials: The cone was developed using Kicker's SoloKon technology. The ultra high performance injection molded polypropylene cone remains rigid and minimizes cone flex, lowering harmonic distortion. Distortion in the cone is further reduced with new back bracing.

Surround: The optimized ribbed Santoprene surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is double-stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.

Enhanced BAM (Basket And Motor) Assembly: The high-strength steel basket features a low-profile open design, and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly. Perimeter venting in the BAM relieves pressure from under the spider, supports a linear excursion, and helps dissipate heat from the voice coil and motor structure.

UniPlate Construction: The woofer features a one-piece UniPlate construction with a vented hyper-extended pole piece and backplate. This unique design provides the following benefits:

  • Optimizes heat transfer efficiency for cooler operation and maximum power handling ability
  • Eliminates erratic magnetic flux from the voice coil gap
  • Releases pressure under the suspension for uniform cone movement and responsive low bass
  • Prevents the voice coil from bottoming out and corresponding damage

Tinsel Leads: The woofer features sleeved high-power tinsel lead wires to resist breakage and power-robbing resistance losses. The lead wires are terminated with polymer-based strain relieving mechanical fasteners.

Impedance: The two woofers are internally wired to present a 2 ohm load at the wire terminals.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Comp VR speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Subsonic Filter: The power handling specification listed for this enclosure was calculated using a 25Hz, 24dB/octave subsonic filter (sold separately). If a subsonic filter is not used, power handling may decrease, excessive port noise can occur, and the life of the woofer may be shortened

Enclosure

Human Fine-Tuned: Computer modeling and human fine-tuning allow Kicker CompVR subwoofer enclosures to offer perfectly matched bass performance.

Port Clearance: At some frequencies most of the bass is output from the vent so it needs at least four inches clearance to ensure adequate air flow.

Speaker Terminals: The spring loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 8 gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit. The terminals are on the left side of the enclosure, beside the port.

Kicker Comp VR's RULE!!!!!!!

Written By Earp, Mars Hill, N.C. on Sunday, October 23, 2011

I have owned a lot of different name brand subs and amps in my time & I must say if you are looking for a GR8 sounding, hard hitting with SUPER tight bass these 07 12" Comp VR's & there VERY SEXXXY vented Kicker box are for sure the ones you want & need!!!! They are the BEST I have ever had!!!! Keep up the GR8 work Kicker!!! HiFonics amps are AWESOME as well, like I said before I crank my stuff with HARD & HEAVY METAL for hours sometimes & Brutus will get a little warm NEVER HOT TO THE TOUCH & has never went into protect mode!!! Very happy with these items, also I would & do recommend these to everybody that wonders up in amazement & a lot of these people say they heard me & my HiFon Kicks coming for anywhere from 2 or 3 minuets to 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic!!!!!
Pros:
I NEVER would have thought two 12's could sound SOOOOOOOO GOOD & HIT SOOOOOOOO HARD for SOOOOOOOO LONG, but they have for near one year now!!!!!!!!! I have them hooked to a 1200 watt HiFonics class D mono block amp which is also a GREAT PIECE!!! These 07 12" Comp VR's ROCK the ONLY prob I have is now I am chasing & TRYING to quieten vibrations that they cause on the outside of our Chevy Blazer!!! GREAT JOB AGAIN KICKER (& HiFonics)!!!!
Cons:
The ONLY THING I DIDN'T like was waiting four days for the subs & box to arrive!!!!!! Haven't had any problems at all with the subs, Kicker box (which is also AWESOME) or the HiFonics, Brutus amp!!!!!

Amazing Sound

Written By Jake, Charlottesville, VA on Sunday, October 02, 2011

I have had the subwoofers about a year now. I wanted to wait to see the durabiltity of them. They have not changed since the day i got them! They hit so hard and super clear. I have them hooked up with an 1800 watt Kenwood Amp, (a little more than the subs can hold) but it's a great match. Dynamat is highly reccomended for these subs lol. People def. hear me before they see me and i have had many compliments on how nice, deep, and clear they sound. KICKER ALL THE WAY! Great subs, worth the money, and I am one happy customer.

Loud, Hard, And CLEAN!!

Written By Lockdown, MIlton, WI on Saturday, August 20, 2011

Let me start out this review by saying that this is FREAKIN AWESOME! I've only had it for a few days, and for not being broken in yet, they kick so hard! It shakes my whole car, and even shook the entire shed that we installed it in! Match this up with a maybe a Kicker 750 amp and you will be golden! If you were on the fence about this item, dont be! It's fricken awesome!!! All my friends, guys and girls, are all super impress. GET THIS! The only downside is the size, and the break in period of about 2 weeks. IT is HUGE but it KICKS!

Crem Da La Crem

Written By Jonny, South Jersey on Thursday, May 05, 2011

So I had purchased the next down lower end model of these subs first and I didnt
think it was loud enough I mean dont get me wrong they hit! but i needed more
lol so I returned them and picked these babies up.................. as soon as they
first hit I could hear that extra hundred dollars cha chinging out of the speaker but
it was actually low crisp clear bass. Def worth the extra hundred as they hold x2
the wattage. My neighbors do not know whats about to hit them haha. But on the
real tip i'm in the hole 400 bucks but it was totally worth it.

LOWWWW

Written By james, Mount Vernon, WA on Tuesday, April 07, 2009

It's crazy how much of a difference you hear after the break in period. I had to set the gain, bass boost and xover on my amp about 4 different times but when i finally got it sounding good all i can say is wow! The roof of my gmc jimmy looks like its about to pop off when these things slam. gets very low and stays there. With the port tuning you don't get alot of frequencys you get with other ported and vented enclosures(like alot of the bass on T.Is Top Back) but what you do get it some raw bass! go get you some of these! def worth it

Great Subs!

Written By Zach, Lewisburg, OH on Wednesday, March 25, 2009

A great pair of subwoofers, I have them hooked up to a 750.1 Amp and those things Slap! They are so popular they went Out of stock when I ordered them And at first i was upset, but when i got them and hooked them up, It paid off within the day.

Only Disadvantage I'd have to say is that there pretty big, but if you have a fairly big trunk, no worries!

Overall Fantastic Subs.

Perfect sub/box match

Written By Nick, Joplin, MO on Saturday, March 14, 2009

I previously had 2 of these same sub in a sealed box before they were stolen(don't put the decals on the window unless you have a garage to hide your car in). The port on this box just makes it sound better and feel better. Since I got this new setup my airbag waring light comes on all the time if that tells you how hard these hit.
