Size Codes

As you shop our site, we’ll show you which receivers fit your vehicle. If you’re shopping from a Crutchfield catalog, the size code(s) listed for your car will help you find the right stereo.* Here are the receiver sizes we offer:

I
"Iso-DIN" stereos mount in a 2" tall opening, but they attach the factory radio’s side support system. You won’t need the mounting sleeve and trim ring included with your new radio.
IR
This size code indicates that you can install an "I" chassis receiver (see above) along with a 1" sound processor in your dash opening.
E
"Euro-DIN" stereos attach from the front through the 2" tall rectangular hole in the dash, sliding into a metal sleeve that attaches to the front of the dash.
ER
This size code indicates that you can install an "E" chassis receiver (see above) along with a 1" sound processor in your dash opening.
J
"J" receivers mount like an "I" receiver, but have a slightly wider control panel. You can mount an "I" receiver in a "J" opening, but you’ll see a small gap around the control panel.
JR
This size code indicates that you can install a "J" chassis receiver (see above) along with a 1" sound processor in your dash opening.

"CG" and "GC" receivers are designed to fit in the 3" tall opening found in many GM and Chrysler vehicles. You won’t need an installation kit.
DD
Double-DIN receivers fit in the 4" tall opening found in many Japanese and American vehicles.
U
"Shaft-style" receivers have two knobs on either side of the tuner/tape deck. They fit the 3-hole dash opening in many older vehicles.
UR
This size code indicates that you can install a "shaft-style," U-chassis receiver (see above) along with a 1" sound processor in your dash opening.
