Features
Overview: The Wi-Ex
YX510-CEL/PCS is a cell phone signal extender for use in your home or office. The unit
extends cell phone range (up to 10 times the signal strength), improving the
signal strength for both voice and data. Battery life is improved because the
phone doesn't work as hard to find a good signal. The unit reduces dropped calls
and dead zones, and works with multiple phones simultaneously.
Basic Operation: The signal
antenna captures the signal and sends it to the amplifier. Once the signal is
boosted, the base unit antenna repeats the signal and transmits it inside the
home, creating a "Cell Zone."
Coverage: The YX510 is designed
to cover up to 3000 square feet. With optional upgrades, coverage can be
increased up to 10,000 square feet.
Compatibility: The dual band
system (CEL 800MHz and PCS 1900 MHz) works with most phones and most carriers.
Note: The unit is not compatible with iDEN, Nextel, SMR, or ESMR
frequency services.
Design: The YX-510 consists of
a small base unit with an attached 7" antenna, a larger, 16" signal antenna, and
50 feet of RG6 cable. The system is powered by an AC adapter (3.6V/2A).
Wireless Operation: There is no
physical connection to your phone. The system operates wirelessly.
LED Signal Indicators: There
are three LEDs
on the top of the base unit. These LEDs glow solid or flash in various colors to
indicate operation status.
Installation:
- Base Unit:
For the widest possible signal
reception, the base unit should be mounted near the middle of a room, or on
an interior wall. It can be placed on a desk, tabletop, or shelf. You can
also wall-mount the base unit, using the integrated bracket. It is
recommended that the base unit be installed at least 4 feet above the floor,
or at about the height of the cell phone when it is typically in use. The
base unit should be installed so that the attached antenna can be pointed
toward the ceiling.
- Signal Antenna:
The signal antenna should be mounted as high as possible, and with at least
15 feet of vertical separation from the base unit. If the distance between
the base unit and the signal antenna exceeds 50 feet, you will need to
purchase additional coaxial cable. Total cable length should not exceed 70
feet unless an upgraded signal antenna is purchased. A signal antenna
mounting bracket is supplied. Three locations are suggested:
- Easiest: inside beside a
window where you can receive signal
- Good Performance: outside
near a window where you can receive signal
- Best Performance: outside
or in your attic where you get the best signal
Note: If the signal antenna is
installed outside, it must be grounded to protect you against lightning
strikes during a lightning storm. It is recommended that you install the YX012
Wi-Ex Outdoor Installation and Grounding kit. In addition, a drip loop
should be created with the coaxial cable at the point where the cable enters
the building through an outside wall.
