System Overview
South of Market Audio Dock: The Audyssey South of Market
Audio Dock is a high fidelity speaker system for your Apple iPod/iPhone,
smartphone, tablet, or computer. The South of Market Audio Dock features an
integrated dock for playback and syncing of your iPod or iPhone. It also
supports Bluetooth (A2DP/HFP) for audio streaming and features a built-in speakerphone
for hands-free conversation. In addition, the Audio Dock is fitted with a 3.5mm
auxiliary input for connection of almost any external audio device. For added
convenience, the South of Market Audio Dock includes an IR remote control.
Compact Design: The South of Market Audio Dock is the
perfect size for your desk, kitchen, or bedside table. It measures only 5.5" (w) x
9.125" (h) x 12.375" (d), and weighs 9 lbs.
Audio Section
Audyssey Smart Speaker Technology: The South of Market Audio
Dock employs Audyssey Smart Speaker Technology for distortion-free, powerful,
and precise sound. Audyssey Smart Speaker Technology even maintains balanced
sound at low volumes.
Audyssey BassXT: The South of Market Audio Dock has a proprietary
technology called Audyssey BassXT, which extends the bass response of small
speakers to reproduce the lowest frequencies. The result is deeper bass.
2-Way Speaker Design: The South of Market Audio Dock contains two 4"
long-throw side-firing woofers and two 0.75" silk-dome angled tweeters
inside an acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosure for deep
bass, warm mids, and clear highs. Auydssey carefully calibrated the drivers'
placement and voicing so that frequency and phase relationships remain intact
and sound waves emanate outward to create a stereo image. The width of the sound
field may vary due to reflections off of nearby surfaces depending on where
you've placed the Audio Dock relative to other objects in the room (and the
physical dimensions and construction of the room).
Class-D Bi-Amplification: Four separate Class-D amplifiers with active crossovers
power the dock's two-way speaker system for greater dynamics, improved
performance, and uncompromised sound quality.
iPhone App: Download the free
South of Market iPhone App
onto your iPod or iPhone to create personalized EQ curves and tailor
the music to your taste. Designed specifically for the South of Market Audio
Dock and iPhone or iPod Touch, the South of Market App gives you the ability to
customize your sound. The app features Fast Slope Tone Controls, a new way of
adjusting bass and treble using Audyssey Tilt Control, and a selection of
Audyssey's Dynamic Volume presets, including background listening.
- Audyssey Dynamic Volume: Automatically controls the level you hear so no content gets too loud or too
soft. For movies, audio books and vocals it makes voices more clear and
understandable. For music listening, it maintains consistent levels, eliminating
the need for continual volume adjustments.
- Audyssey Tilt: A convenient single control that allows you to solve tonal anomalies in
recordings by "tilting" the balance to more highs or more lows. Audyssey
developed this new technology and it makes its debut in the Audio Dock.
- Audyssey Fast Slope Tone: Allows you to adjust treble and bass using a newly developed method that
minimizes interactions to give you better control over just the bass or just the
treble.
- Custom EQ: Create EQ curves to control the levels of specific frequency ranges. Name them for storage
and easy recall.
- Background Listening Mode: You can even turn on the "Background Listening" mode for perfect dinner
conversation music.
Note: The South of Market iPhone App is compatible with iPod touch
and iPhone running iOS 3.1.3 or later.
iPod/Aux Connectivity
iPod/iPhone Dock: The South of Market Audio Dock features an
integrated Apple 30-pin dock connector for audio playback & charging of your Apple iPod or iPhone. The Audio Dock will
play back audio that is stored on or streamed to your iPod/iPhone. Music navigation
must be done through your iPod/iPhone's clickwheel or touchscreen. Song/artist
text will continue to display on your iPod/iPhone (the Audio Dock does not
offers a separate display). When the
Audio Dock is turned on, your docked iPod/iPhone will automatically be charged. The Audio Dock is
compatible with the following iPod/iPhone models (as of November 2011).

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change
functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may
need to reset the unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this
doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software version or wait
until a newer software update is available.
iTunes Sync: When the Audio Dock is connected to your computer
via it miniUSB (type-B) port, using the included USB-to-miniUSB cable, your docked iPod or iPhone will sync with
iTunes.
Auxiliary Input: The South of Market Audio Dock features a rear-panel
3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting an external audio device with a standard
3.5mm audio output or headphone jack.
Bluetooth Technology
Built-in Bluetooth: The South of Market Audio Dock
features built-in Bluetooth technology, so you can stream music
wirelessly from a Bluetooth (A2DP)-enabled device; such as your iPhone. Via Bluetooth,
the Audio Dock gives you the freedom to interact with your phone while the music plays; so
you can text, email, check Facebook, or pick the next song from the palm of your
hand. The Audio Dock will reproduce audio at the highest quality the wireless
source device will allow.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology,
some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or
may not support all features when used with the Audio Dock.
Pairing: Your
Bluetooth-enabled device must be paired with the South of Market Audio dock
initially, before using the Bluetooth (A2DP/HFP) feature.
Speakerphone: When your Bluetooth-enabled phone is connected to the
South of Market Audio Dock via Bluetooth (HFP), you can use the Audio Dock as a
speakerphone. You can answer incoming calls from the Audio Dock. All outgoing
calls must be dialed first using your Bluetooth-enabled phone. With Audyssey Dynamic Voice technology, you will experience a
clear and natural speakerphone call. Dual microphones and voice-processing
algorithms improve voice pickup quality to ensure that calls are clear and
echo-free.
VoIP Calls: You can use the dock's speakerphone to make VoIP calls on
your computer with VoIP programs such as Skype. Simply use the included minijack
audio cables to connect the microphone audio output (3.5mm) on the Audio Dock to
your computer's microphone/line input, and the aux input (3.5mm) on the Audio
Dock to your computer's line/headphone output. You'll get clear rich sound from
your VoIP calls.
Remote Control
IR Remote: The South of Market Audio Dock includes an IR remote for
wireless operation of the Audio Dock. The remote provides volume control, answer
button, mic, and mute functions.
Magnetic: The remote is magnetic, so you can attach it to your
refrigerator or filing cabinet for safe keeping.
Power Requirements
Detachable AC Power Cord: The South of Market Audio Dock operates off
of standard household AC current (100V-120V, 50/60Hz) using the supplied 6.5' detachable two-prong AC
power cord.
