Boom Mat baffles protect your car's new speakers from moisture and dirt. Mounted behind the speaker, the baffle forms a mounting seal that also improves sound clarity by reducing panel vibration that could transfer to the speaker.

These baffles will protect your speakers. In many applications we recommend that you cut a hole in the bottom of the baffle, or remove the entire bottom of the baffle, to maintain good bass response while still protecting your speaker from dirt and water damage.     Features

    Overview: These acoustic baffles are designed to be placed behind car speakers to protect the speaker from moisture and dirt which can damage speaker components. Along with providing a sealed chamber, they also form a mounting seal between the speaker and the mounting surface to eliminate panel to frame resonance. Baffles will improve door acoustics by reducing road noise and vibrations transferred to the back of the speaker cone. The baffles are pliable and can be compressed to fit most applications.

    These were WAY too big for the opening. Even with trimming they wouldn't work. It was like a little kid wearing dad's clothes. I finally just tossed them, as the return shipping would have been more than they cost.

    Sizing a bit off

    I bought these to go with the Pioneer TS-G1042R 4" speakers that I ordered. Boom Mat must be using a different measurement standard than Pioneer. I cut them down to match the speakers per the instructions, but they're just a smidgen to large for the speaker. As a result the don't really seal up as well as the product descriptions indicate. If they were about 1/4" - 3/8" smaller in the speaker cone size they would be a perfect fit, but as is, they are 4" which is really too large for 4" speakers. It doesn't sound logical, but once you've tried to install them you'll know what I mean.
