Remote Control

Written By Rick A., New Berlin, NY on Thursday, May 23, 2013

I received this remote automatically with my Alpine CDA-9887 head unit that I purchased from Crutchfield several years ago. It has always worked for what it is. You can't control all features with a head unit, but you can do the basics. It's not "slim" but it never slides off of the seat in front of my armrest (face down) and the batteries seem to last a long time in it. I agree that a nice HU should come standard with a remote. I just bought a CDE-HD149BT HU and once again, it will do the basics since Alpine's "top of the line" single DIN does not come with any remote. In all fairness, it's not Crutchfield's fault. Alpine dropped the ball. I would recommend this remote to complete the simple tasks such as power on/off, mute, pause, skip.
Pros:
Good battery life, large enough that you don't lose it, will still control some of the latest HUs.
Cons:
Alpine should have a remote come standard with their HUs.

Remote

Written By Griffith, Dallas,TX. on Monday, March 25, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This remote did ok but seems to hold memory on the side arrow which should be next channel up or down. After the radio is off over night it seems to reset and be ok until you use it a few times and it starts going random.
Pros:
it's better than not having one.
Cons:
not much better than using the radio controls.

Good remote

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Remote is very nice, all the buttons work reall good, only thing I didn't like is you get a case to put your remote in and it can stick to anywhere and mine fell off and now won't stick. But this remote can do everything your hu can do.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love my RUE, I had the older model rue and had gotten used to that, but functionality of that one is iffy, This remote does exactly what it is supposed to.
Pros:
smaller than it looks, confortable to use
Cons:
light up buttons and glow in the darkworing would have been nice, but not essential.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Since I don't have any controls on my F150 steering wheel, this is the next best thing. It is easy to use and does all I need it to do. My one complaint is that there is no illumination on the remote and at night it is hard to use.
Pros:
Simple and easy to use
Cons:
No illumination of the controls

Alpine Remote

Written By Anderson, Princeton, IL on Saturday, September 17, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Remote is great, the only bad thing is that you have to have it pointed at the head unit. This remote works great switching the tracks and pausing the music. It works with my ida-x200 head unit. it does basic functions. So overall does a good job.

I wish Alpine wouldn't have discontinued the credit card (slim) remote, it was the BEST remote for Alpine Receivers. But this remote does the job, just a little bulky

Alpine RUE-4202 Remote Control Unit

Written By Sergio A., Sacramento, CA on Wednesday, February 02, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a must have remote control unit for any of the 2005 and up Alpine stereo head
units. It sure comes in handy to adjust the volume and do the other adjustments while
your car is parked with the doors open & windows rolled down at parties at the park and
such with all of your friends!....great thing to have!

Does what it's supposed to do.

Written By RichardJr, Muscle Shoals, AL on Monday, August 25, 2008
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I need a simple remote for volume control, switching sources and bands. This does exactly what I need it to do. I haven't found a place to stick the cradle in the cab of my pickup truck so it just sits on the seat beside me.

I figure if I have to reach all the way to the radio (or further) to reach the remote I may as well just twist the knobs on the radio.

You may have a better surface to stick the remote - all my surfaces are curved.

Alpine RUE-4202

Written By Joshua, North Alabama on Thursday, May 15, 2008
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

DO NOT order this remote if you are using the iDA-x200 (I assume that this
applies to all similar decks, such as the iDA-x300, 001, and 100). I ordered
this from Crutchfield, and it arrived promptly and just as they said it would.
This is not Crutchfield's fault at all. I checked on Alpine's website, and this
remote was listed as an accessory for the iDA-x200. When I received this
product, I noticed that it would do everything but the most important
thing... control the iPod browsing feature of my deck. Due to the fact that
the iDA-x200 is an "iPod only" receiver, this remote is basically useless to
me.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this in February for my Alpine CDA 9856 i have/had in my truck and it works great.
I just updated my deck to the Alpine CDA 9883 and plan on putting the CDA 9856 in my boat and came back to Crutchfield to get a second remote.

Great cd decks and the remote works Both.
