Our take on the RetroSound VWKPB Kick Panel Enclosures

Old VW Beetles are cool vehicles but they weren't designed for great sound. It's particularly hard to find a good spot for aftermarket speakers, but now RetroSound offers a neat solution — install their VWKPB enclosures in your Beetle's kick panels and start rocking out.

Great sound in a bug
The package includes two ABS plastic enclosures and a set of RetroSound's R-652N 6-3/4" speakers. Each enclosure holds a RetroSound speaker, angled up toward your ears to create a more powerful stereo image. These speakers will work well with a factory or aftermarket radio, but they handle up to 50 watts RMS so they'll be very happy with an outboard amplifier.

Compact, paintable enclosures
The R652N speakers have a mounting depth of less than 1-3/4", so these enclosures don't take up a lot of space. You can paint the enclosures to match your VW's interior, and each enclosure already has a cutout for the RetroSound speaker, so they'll just pop right in. These enclosures fit in 1949-71 standard Beetles; they will not work in Beetles equipped with a bamboo tray, Beetle convertibles, or Super Beetles.

Features

Kick Panel Brackets: The VWKPB package includes a pair of RetroSound R-652N 6-3/4" speakers and brackets to mount them in the kick panel location of select 1949 to 1971 Volkswagen Beetles. The diameter of the pre-cut openings in the brackets is 6-3/4 inches and they can be painted to match your interior.

Note: Please confirm compatibility using the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector. These kick panels will not work with VW Beetles equipped with a bamboo tray, Super Beetles, or Convertibles.

Woofer: The speakers feature rigid pulp composite cone woofers with Santoprene surrounds. The woofers use Neodymium magnets to achieve their shallow depth.

Tweeters: The tweeters are low profile Mylar domes.
