Video: TEAC Personal Music Systems
Mark Gurvey from TEAC came to Crutchfield to tell us about their personal music systems.
Steve: Well you've told us about your Reference line of components. Can you talk a little bit about how that quality kind of trickles down to these products here.
Mark: Yes, absolutely. The knowledge that we have for over 60 years in audio mechanisms and electro-mechanics give us the capability to take Reference series technology and apply it, for example, to the CD mechanism that's included in this device. This is primarily a iPod, iPhone docking station but what's very unique about it is not only do you have that interface and we can show the dock itself is actually retractable not only do we have that interface but we have a built-in CD player, we have an FM radio, we have a 100 watt amplifier, which is outputting a true 50 watts per channel, and we have digital signal processing technology that's evolved from TEAC Reference series. So we do try to apply the trickle down of our own technology.
We also have something very unique in this type of a product which is a USB play port, and USB sticks recorded up to 128K can be played back through an auxiliary interface straight into the SR100. From this device, we come to the SR-80i. And with the SR-80i, we have an auxiliary playback capability. We also have docking capability for Nano or iPod or iPhone. What's unique about this piece again trickle down technology from the Reference series this is iPod digital direct so there's no requirement for any external device to take the digital information from your Nano or your iPod or your iPhone and play it back into this device. Very, very clean signal. Very strong bass response.
The third product that is currently carried by Crutchfield is what we call the SR-LUX and the SR-LUX is actually a high quality table radio. But in addition to being a high quality table radio, it's also a lamp and you can adjust the brightness and the intensity of the lamp. It's also an alarm clock so that in the morning when the alarm goes off, you can actually have an increase in the light output of the frame itself so that it gradually increases as the alarm keeps going off. This is actually a stereo loud speaker in the surround frame, and we have two bass ports in the back. So this is actually a full 2.0 speaker system fully compatible with Apple products.
Steve: Thanks again for coming Mark and telling us about TEAC's personal music systems. If you have any questions about these products just give us a call.
