Features
Overview: The Kenwood GTM10 is a Traffic Message Channel (TMC)
Receiver for select Kenwood navigation headunits and add-on navigation modules.
Once you activate the TMC subscription, this traffic receiver will begin to
receive real-time traffic data right onto your compatible Kenwood navigation
headunit's screen, providing
quick access to alternative routing using Garmin navigation. When a traffic
message is received, you can see the event on the map-screen of your Kenwood
navigation headunit and change your route to avoid the traffic incident. The
on-screen map page of your compatible navigation headunit will display a
"diamond icon" when there is a traffic event of medium severity or high severity
on your current route, or on the road you are driving. If you press this icon,
your connected navigation headunit will create a detour route for you (if
applicable) so you can avoid the traffic event.
Note: A subscription is required to receiver the Traffic Message Channel (TMC)
service. The GTM10 provides a 90-day subscription which is automatically
activated when the GTM10 first receives a traffic signal once connected to
your Kenwood navigation unit. To renew a subscription, go to Garmin's FM
Traffic Website at garmin.com/fmtraffic.
Traffic Coverage: TMC data is available in a fast-growing number of
cities throughout North America and gives prompt, accurate notification of
accidents, road construction, police, or emergency action, etc. - so you can
visually monitor traffic flow and, if necessary, avoid traffic tie-ups.
Note: Check totaltraffic.com/coverageareas for areas covered by FM
RDS TMC service.
Compatibility: The Kenwood GTM10 is compatible with 2008-up
Kenwood navigation headunit's and add-on modules.
Installation: The Kenwood GTM10 FM TMC Traffic Receiver installs
between your compatible Kenwood navigation headunit and your vehicle's antenna
cable. The GTM10 consists of two Fakra connectors and comes with a female
motorola adapter cable, as well as a male motorola adapter cable that allow the
GTM10 to be installed in series between your vehicle's antenna and your Kenwood
navigation headunit. The adapter cables plug into the GTM10's Fakra connectors,
while your vehicle's antenna cable plugs into the female motorola adapter cable
of the GTM10, and the male motorola adapter cable of the GTM10 plugs into the
antenna port on your Kenwood navigation unit. The GTM10 also features an
attached 5' cord terminated by a mini-USB type-B connector which needs to be
plugged into the mini-USB/TMC port on back of your Kenwood navigation receiver
for content, control, and power transfer. If the attached 5' cord is not long
enough, the GTM10 comes supplied with two 6.5' mini-USB extension cables. The
GTM10 FM TMC Traffic Receiver features an integrated self-adhesive mount and
comes with four wire-ties for cable management.
