    Features

    Overview: The Pioneer ND-TMC10 Traffic Tuner provides real-time traffic information from Total Traffic Network to your compatible Pioneer navigation receiver. When the ND-TMC10 Traffic Tuner receives updated traffic information (via FM RDS), a compatible Pioneer navigation receiver will overlay the traffic information on its on-screen map and also display detailed text information, when available. When you are traveling along a route and there is traffic information on your current route, the system will detect it and ask you if you would like to be re-routed, or suggest another route automatically.

    Note: To receive Total Traffic Network traffic information on your compatible Pioneer navigation system, you must be within a Total Traffic Network coverage area.

    Compatibility: The Pioneer ND-TMC10 Traffic Tuner is compatible with the following Pioneer in-dash navigation receivers (as of 2/8/2013).

    • AVIC-X930BT
    • AVIC-X9310BT
    • AVIC-X940BT

    Coverage Area: The Total Traffic Network service is designed to be primarily a freeway service, used on limited access highways across most the United States. Secondary roads may have coverage for some incidents, but not with flow or congestion information.

    Note: Coverage areas are affected by reception limitations of the FM network as well as other factors, which may affect the availability of the unit to receive FM broadcasts.

    Free Subscription: Total Traffic Network service subscription is included free with the ND-TMC10 Traffic Tuner.

    Installation: The Pioneer ND-TMC10 Traffic Tuner module feature three connections to plug the unit into your compatible Pioneer in-dash navigation-multimedia headunit. The traffic tuner module features an attached 40" power/signal harness terminated by a proprietary 6-pin plug, which connects to the Pioneer head unit's proprietary expansion port. The traffic tuner module also features an attached 12" cable terminated by a female motorola plug and an attached 12" cable terminated by a male motorola plug. Your vehicle's antenna plugs into the female motorola connector of the ND-TMC10, and the male motorola connector of the ND-TMC10 plugs into the head unit's antenna jack.

    Easy to install, works with Pioneer AVIC-X940BT, and added HD radio tuner. Even though this site (Crutchfield) says it will not work with Pioneer AVIC-X940BT it does. Pioneer's site and the Reps at Cruchfield know it does work, ask them. I Installed this in my 06 GMC Canyon in less than an hour. Hardest part was getting everything to fit back in the dash with the wiring. Not too much space left after installing the GMC wiring harness with warning chime box, the HD Radio Tuner box, and this traffic tuner box. Getting all that secured and tucked in under the dash nicley was a feat. I used it on a trip across state, and it warned me a few times about heavy traffic in the Columbus area around rush hour. I rerouted, and it saved me an hour or 2 I'm sure. Worth the price, just in the one trip

    Don't know why pioneer does not recommend this to units that have been upgraded to Z130BT. I have a Z110BT that I have upgraded to the Z120BT and then to the Z130BT using Pioneer's map and software upgrades. Installed the traffic tuner in about 20 minutes and it works great. I recommend this to anyone who has done the upgrade to the 130.
    Pros:
    Knowing traffic congestion and slow downs. I think this is a great tool for anyone who travels alot,
    Cons:
    None so far.

    Once you do the new Upgrade for the AVIC-Z110BT it brings it up to a Z130BT And make this unit a workable unit. Very Easy to Install or replace the MSN unit. Works better than MSN Direct, IS accurate. Highly Recommend this unit it will save you time in travel.

    Works for the AVIC-X930BT as well as the prevous gen AVIC-X920BT

    This works with the AVIC-X920BT but you will need to update your maps to the latest version (CNSD-210FM) or you will receive a tuner error and the unit will not work. Repeat, you must install CNSD-210FM in order for this unit to work on the Avic X920BT, if you do not then it will not work.

    The install was simple, just connect it between your car stereo and the antenna, Bam! For me it was a 15 minute install on a 2004 Mazda 3, a couple of screws and plug in the tuner and done.

    I've been using this unit for a few days now and it is the same general interface with a traffic icon added on the menu. But now it gives me updates on traffic conditions and events that may affect traffic.

    Overall I'm pleased with this product, if you are upgrading from a Avic X920BT then there are other upgrades that you get with it, such as AHA Radio, and Avic Feeds, but these are only useful if you have a iPhone connected to your stereo.

    Overall it does what it needs to do, if you have the Avic X930BT then it's an inexpensive upgrade/add on for something that comes in very handy, but if you are upgrading from the Avic X920BT then it is a costly upgrade of msrp. $100 for the tuner and another $120 for the maps.

    I have given it a five star rating based upon my expectations and what were necessities for me.

    **** IF INSTALLING FOR THE X920BT YOU MUST ADD THE CNSD-210FM SOFTWARE OR YOU WILL RECEIVE A TUNER ERROR EVERY TEN MINUTES OR LESS. **********
    Pros:
    Traffic updates without a subscription. This is much needed since the Microsoft version is being discontinued and the previous version had a monthly/yearly fee associated with it.
    Cons:
    Must buy maps in order to update to Avic-X920BT units, but you will be able to add it if you have a Avic-X930BT without the maps update (since the 930BT has all current maps on it). If you do need to buy the maps, then it is a $120 map upgrade and will take 30 minutes to install the software.
