The Polk CS20 creates a life-sized center image and anchors dialogue and sound effects to your TV's screen. Polk carefully designed the woofers and tweeter using laser testing to help identify and eliminate resonance points. The acoustically inert MDF cabinet fights internal vibrations that can compromise performance. It all adds up to smooth, accurate sound with movie soundtracks and multichannel music sources.

The CS20 is uniquely designed with an angled top, so you can invert the speaker for placement on a low shelf to direct the sound towards your listening area. And a real wood veneer finish with stylish piano black sides give this speaker a warm, refined look, making it an attractive addition to just about any room.

Driver Technology

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Klippel Optimized: Using a state-of-the-art Klippel Distortion Analyzer, Polk engineers were able to optimize the speaker structure and cabinet design for the best possible performance, even at extreme listening levels.

High Efficiency Design: Compatible with practically any AV receiver, the center-channel speakers produces sound that is open, spacious and clear, even when driven by modestly-powered amplifiers and receivers.

Bi-Laminate Composite Woofers: The center-channel speaker features two 6.5" bi-laminate composite (organic fiber) dynamic balance drivers which is light and stiff for deep bass response and low distortion. The multiple smaller driver configuration is capable of better detail than one single large woofer. This design also projects sound over a wider area, so there is a broader "sweet-spot". For high performance and durability, each woofer uses a butyl rubber surround.

Silk dome Tweeters: The center-channel speaker features a 1.0" silk dome dynamic balance tweeter for detailed highs. Each tweeter features mylar bypass capacitors in the crossovers to extend high frequency response and improve detail and transparency.

Frequency Response: The overall frequency response is 48Hz-25kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 58-24kHz.

Enclosure Design

Quality Built Cabinets: The TSi speaker cabinet is extensively braced from MDF with ¾" thick baffles. With pewter accents, a piano black top plate and removable black grille, TSi speakers look awesome and take up less than one square foot. All models are available in a choice of black or cherry wood grain.

Narrow Baffle Geometry: Narrow baffle geometry is a design that creates a sleek looking speaker with great sound. First the high quality cabinet is slender and tucks away easily in your room. The smaller-diameter speaker components are lighter in mass, translating to clearer sound.

Flared Ports: All TSi speaker feature Critically Tuned Flared Ports. Flared Ports minimize port noise ("chuffing") and ensure good low frequency extension with low distortion. With Flared Ports, TSi speakers reveal realistic, natural, full-bodied sound with rich bass. The TSi center-channel speaker uses a rear-firing port.

Connections

5-Way Binding Posts: The center-channel speaker has a pair of gold-plated 5-way binding posts for a superior connection to your AV receiver.

Mounting Options

Placement: The center-channel speaker should be placed directly above or below your television. The TSi series center-channel speaker is magnetically shielded for safe placement near your TV or video monitor.

Rubber Feet: The center-channel speaker comes with four self-adhesive rubber feet so it will sit securely on your stand or shelf.

I bought the Polk CS20 center speaker to go with 4 TSi400 floor standing speakers and a PSW125 subwoofer my exclamation was WOW. just like seating in a theater. Crisp clear sound for music also.

Hard to beat this center channel in this price range if matched properly. Am using this with a Denon AVR2313 and all Pol system (TSi500's, PSW125 sub, and OMW5 surrounds), and sound quality is excellent. Major upgrade from small Energy Take 5 center I was using previously. This one is not straining at all with the 105 watt per channel receiver, and voices etc. are clear and clean.

Great sound, beautiful cabinet
Cons:
This thing is big---about 23"W x 8"H x 12" deep counting posts, so you'll need some room for it!

Everything is so loud & vibrant. I have re-watched certain movies and have heard certain noises that i didn't hear with my first center channel. It's actually made my entire surround sound system way better! I want to watch my entire collection of blu rays all over again just because of this center channel! Only con is the actual size of it! I thought it would be smaller, but it's actually quite large.

This speaker sends such clear sound - I keep thinking the sound is coming from my other speakers! It is essential while watching TV because most of the audio comes from the center channel. In movies, this speaker delivers and really balances the audio. The only negative is the size of this beast. I mean, wow - it is A LOT bigger than you think and you'll realize this when you try to put it in the center position.

-size -size -it is tall, wide AND long. The tapered rear means you cannot put anything on top of it...

Purchased this speaker about 2 weeks ago. The sound is very clear and has great bass for a center channel speaker. I have adequate room for this monster so space wasn't an issue.This speaker replaced an Energy 4" center that made a world of difference. I got this paired up with Polk TSI300 for the main speakers, RC60I and RC85I for the surrounds. The Klipsch sub rounds out the 7.1 system. The CS20 made listening to music sound much better due to the 6 1/2" drivers that help my TSI300's run the mid and lower bass. I was thinking about the CS10 but after reading other reviews decided to step up with this guy. I know this was the right choice for my needs. I ran an audyssey setup with my Onkyo receiver that made my system come to life. Had to tweak the center a little because most of the voices come from there especially when watching movies. If you have the space.....buy it! Thought Crutchfield made a mistake when the UPS guy handed this box to me......maybe a subwoofer? NO......just the CS20....HA HA!

Clear sound, nice cabinet finish and great bass. Great price point.

Big if you don't have the space.

This center channel speaker is incredible. I got it to go along with my TSI300 towers and it blew my mind. I've never heard such clear dialogue and other sounds in a movie before. I'm very impressed. I almost got the CS10 but thought I'd go a little bigger since they center channel is the workhorse for movies.
Pros:
Amazing sound quality, can handle a full range of frequencies, not just the mids highs. It's well balanced (for my ears anyway) and it's a good looking speaker too. The polished ends really look classy.
Cons:
This is a big center speaker. This isn't necessarily a con, but if there's a specific place you'd like to place a center channel speaker, I'd recommend paying close attention to the dimensions and double checking if it'll fit.

Great speaker - need to replace my CS-275 that only had one speaker working. This was a bigger size and has a bigger sound to go with my 80" Sharp. Sounds great. maybe I'm just getting used to it but it keeps sounding better and better!

It certainly is the largest and best center channel speaker that I have ever seen or heard or owned!It is a speaker set that deserves its place at the center, as it does its job extremely well. You can built your surround system around this speaker. Missed dialogue in movies is a thing of the past.
Pros:
Without a doubt this is the best center speaker you can by for the money. It could make even a cheap sound system sound much better. You can built a great system around this speaker box. It's sheer size alone will enlist positive comments, then its performance will do the rest. The fact that one surface of the cabinet is slanted means that the box can be mounted either high on the wall or low, and the speakers can still be aimed at the listeners. The wood grain and color is beautiful.
Cons:
If hanging this speaker either from the ceiling or wall is your plan then you had better have very strong brackets. Even with knowing the speaker enclosure size it really doesn't hit home that it's so huge, until you actually open the box and lift it out.

The Polk CS 20 is the best center channel speaker I have ever owned. Not only is the clarity of the mid-range and high frequencies second to none, but the price is unbelievable for what you get. The sheer weight of the speaker shows you this is no toy, but the ease of installation and setting the level of sound at your amplifier with your other speakers is almost seamless. HD movies, radio, and CDS can put the speaker through its paces and shows it can handle any level of audio without distortion and helps to completely envelope you in sound. Finally, dialogue in movies and on TV is so crystal clear that even older people with modest hearing loss can hear everything.
Pros:
Very clear dialogue, and middle and high frequencies. Solidly built like a tank No distortion at high volumes

This is no toy. It is heavy and big and fits well with TVs of 40 inches and larger

Crystal clear center

I was so hesitant to get this center, I had an old Martin Logan center and the dialogues were so dull. Once I had this replaced, so much clarity in voice and overall sound quality has greatly improved. The one disadvantage for me was the size. I had to clear up an entire rack to place this beast.
