Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

Our take on the JVC Arsenal KD-A725

by Zak Billmeier

Two USB inputs give you more listening options

JVC packs two USB inputs into the Arsenal KD-A725 CD receiver, giving you lots of playback options. For instance, you could dedicate the rear USB input for full-time iPod® use, while leaving the front input free for thumb drives you've loaded with digital music or a friend's iPod. Plus, as part of JVC's Arsenal line, you'll get a solid 2-year warranty with this versatile receiver.

Here's another idea: add JVC's optional Bluetooth® adapter and connect it to the rear input — then you can make and receive phone calls hands-free.

Create a unique look

JVC Arsenal KD-A725

Some people like their car stereo's illumination to match their dash lighting, while some like to get wild. JVC's Separated Variable-Color display lets you pick separate colors for the left and right sides of the KD-A725 for a style that's all your own. With over 30,000 possible colors available for each side, your options are virtually never-ending. Or you can tell the stereo to continually cycle through all the colors for a really cool effect.

Enjoy PANDORA® Internet radio, play audio from your other apps

PANDORA® lovers, you can play all your stations through the KD-A725. Just download a free app for your iPhone®, connect your iPhone to one of the USB inputs, and enjoy. Plus you can play audio from other apps right through the stereo, giving you tons of listening options on your next trip.

iPod note:
If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Hands-on Research" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver.

Exceptional sound quality

JVC uses a Burr-Brown 24-bit digital-to-analog converter in this receiver. That's a mouthful, but what does it mean to you? A digital-to-analog converter takes the digital information stored on your CDs and in your music files, and turns it back into music. Burr-Brown converters are universally recognized for their smooth, superior sound, and you'll usually find them only in expensive home CD players and top-of-the-line car stereos. If you're into music, you'll really appreciate this feature, especially if you're building a full audio system in your vehicle.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most vehicles, you can use an adapter to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this JVC stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and the JVC, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.

      Display Features

Detachable Face: The JVC Arsenal KD-A725 features a detachable face to deter theft. A hard-plastic face-case is provided. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

Note: An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can also be purchased for this unit.

2-Line LCD: The headunit features a two-line, alphanumeric-text LCD with adjustable color, brightness, and dimmer settings.

Variable Color LCD & Key Illumination: The JVC Arsenal KD-A725 features 29 color presets for the LCD and button illumination. You can choose one of these color presets or select the ColorFlow mode which scrolls through all 29 color presets. Additionally, there is a User preset, allowing you to individually adjust the intensity of Red, Green, and Blue from 0 to 31; resulting in approximately 30,000 custom color options. The chosen color preset or custom color can be applied to the display panel and the backlighting for all the buttons except the Display, Brightness, & Eject buttons (they remain red). You can choose to use the same color for the LCD display and button illumination, or use a separate color for each one. You can also select a different color for daytime and nighttime in regards to the unit's LCD and button illumination.

Brightness: The unit offers an adjustable display and button illumination brightness level (0-31) for day and nighttime driving.

Display/Button Illumination Dimmer: The display/button illumination dimmer can be set to Off (normal brightness at all times), On (display/button illumination is always dimmed), or Auto (display dims when 12-volts is applied to the orange/white illumination lead).

Clock Display: The JVC CD receiver features a 12-hour clock display. You can switch between the headunit's source information and clock display when the unit is powered on. When you power the unit off, you can press the "display" button to temporarily view the clock display.

      Audio Section

Burr-Brown 24-bit D/A Converter: The JVC Arsenal KD-A725 utilizes a premium TI/Burr-Brown 24-bit digital-to-analog converter for superior CD sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The KD-A725 is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.

CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the KD-A725 are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers. The power output specs for the KD-A725 are as follows:

      • CEA2006 Specs: 20 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
      • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels (200 total watts)

Amplifier Gain Control: When you are using the KD-A725 with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.

Volume Adjust: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -5 to +5.

Pro EQ: The KD-A725 is equipped with JVC's Pro EQ. The integrated equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Flat, Natural, Dynamic, Vocal Boost, Bass Boost, User) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The User mode allows you to manually adjust the headunit's 3-band parametric EQ (Frequency, Level, and Q-Factor).

      Tone Pro EQ
      Frequency Level Q
      Bass 50, 100, 200 Hz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.7, 1.0, 1.4, 2.0
      Midrange 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 kHz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.7, 1.0, 1.4, 2.0
      Treble 5, 10, 15 khz +/- 12 dB (-6 to +6) 0.7, 1.0, 1.4, 2.0

Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can turn this feature on or off.

2.5V/6CH Preamp Output: The KD-A725 is equipped with three pair of 2.5V preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front and rear preamp outputs allow fader control, while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading.

Built-in Crossovers: The JVC Arsenal KD-A725 features a built-in high-pass filter for the unit's front & rear speakers and a low-pass filter for the unit's subwoofer output.

      • High-Pass Filter: You can activate a variable high-pass filter for the unit's front & rear channels (speaker- or preamp-level), so low frequency signals are cut off from your system's front & rear speakers. You can set the cutoff frequency of the high-pass filter at 62Hz, 95Hz, or 135Hz.
      • Low-Pass Filter: You can set the cutoff frequency of the subwoofer output's low-pass filter to 55Hz, 85Hz, or 120Hz.

Subwoofer Level: You can adjust the headunit's subwoofer level between 0 and 8.

Key-Touch Tone: The in-dash headunit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

      Radio Functions

AM/FM Tuner: The JVC Arsenal KD-A725 features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, and preset tuning.

Preset Tuning: You can store a total of 18 FM stations presets and 6 AM station presets. The radio allows you to set your AM/FM stations manually or automatically.

Note: This unit does not offer front-panel preset buttons. You will need to access your saved presets through the receiver's menu.

Title Assignment: You can assign titles (up to 8 characters) for up to 30 AM/FM stations.

IF Filter: You can also switch the tuner's IF filter to Wide or Auto to increase/decrease the sensitivity.

Mono: If an analog FM stereo broadcast is hard to receive, you can manually switch the tuner to Mono operation.

US/European Tuning: You can set the built-in AM/FM tuner between US standard and European tuning spacing.

Satellite Radio Ready: There are several options for connecting an optional XM or SIRIUS Satellite Radio receiver to this receiver:

      • SIRIUS: The JVC Arsenal KD-A725 is compatible with the SiriusConnect Universal Tuner and Plug & Play Dock.
        • SiriusConnect Tuner: Connect the optional SC-C1 SiriusConnect vehicle tuner (item number 607SCC1) and the JVC KS-SRA100 SIRIUS adapter (item number 105KSRA100) - package # 700SIRJVC1, sold separately.
        • SiriusConnect Dock: Select dock-and-play and portable SIRIUS radios can be controlled using the JVC KS-SRA100 SIRIUS adapter (item number 105KSRA100, sold separately) and the SC-VDOC1 dock (item number 607SCVDOC1, sold separately).
      • XM: To receive XM Satellite Radio connect the optional CNP2000UCA XM Direct2 tuner and the JVC CNP-JVC1 adapter cable (package item number 700XMJVC2, sold separately).
Note: A subscription is also required to receive satellite radio programming from SIRIUS or XM.

      Disc Playback

Disc Compatibility: The unit features a single disc player that will playback CD-Audio, CD-Text, and finalized CD-R/CD-RW audio discs.

MP3/WMA/WAV Playback: The KD-A725 can play MP3 (5-320 kbps), WMA (5-320 kbps), and WAV (705-1411 kbps) audio files that have been recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs. The disc must be recorded in one of the following formats: ISO 9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, Romeo or Windows long file. The headunit can recognize a total of 20,000 files and 2,000 folders (999 files per folder). The unit also supports IDTag3 (version 1.0, 1.1, 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4) for album and artist information from MP3/WMA/WAV files (up to 128 characters).

Track/Folder List: The Track/Folder List displays a list of MP3/WMA folders and tracks on a loaded CD, so you can easily access your music. The Track/Folder List will also display the list of track titles on a CD Text disc. If the MP3/WMA disc contains a lot of tracks, you can fast search (+/-10 or +/-100) through the disc by turning the unit's control dial quickly.

Random/Repeat Modes: The JVC KD-A725 offers the following Repeat and Random playback modes for your audio CDs.

      • Repeat: Track Repeat (plays the current track repeatedly), Folder Repeat (plays all tracks of the current folder repeatedly), Off (cancels repeat function)
      • Random: Folder Random (plays all tracks of the current folder, then the tracks of the next folder in random), All Random (plays all tracks of the current disc at random), Off (cancels random function)

Disc Resume: If you change the source, playback also stops (without ejecting the disc). Next time you select CD for the playback source, the disc will start from where it has been stopped previously.

Off Insert/Eject: A CD disc can be inserted or ejected with the power off. When a disc is inserted with the power off, the unit will automatically power up and begin playback.

Disc Protection: If the ejected disc is not removed within 15 seconds, the disc is automatically inserted again into the loading slot to protect it from dust. The source will change to CD, and the disc will begin playback, even if you have another source selected at the time.

Mounting: For proper disc playback you must install the unit within 30-degrees of horizontal.

      USB/iPod/Aux Connectivity

Dual USB Ports: The JVC Arsenal KD-A725 features a front-panel USB 2.0 type-A port (behind a sliding cover) and a rear-panel USB 2.0 type-A port (attached to a 45" pigtail) for connection of USB mass-storage class devices. The USB ports enable audio playback and control of MP3 (32-320 kbps), WMA (5-320 kbps), and WAV (705-1411 kbps) audio files stored on portable USB mass-storage class devices formatted in FAT 12/16/32.

Note: Both of the USB terminals can be connected to USB devices at the same time. You cannot connect a USB device via a USB hub or Multi-Card Reader to this unit.

iPod/iPhone Direct: The JVC Arsenal KD-A725's front-panel or rear-panel USB port can also act as an iPod/iPhone high-speed direct connection when used with the USB/iPod cable that came with your iPod/iPhone. An additional iPod cable is available (469USBPOD, sold separately) so you can leave one at home and one in the car. Using either cable allows audio playback, music navigation, information display, and charging of select iPod/iPhone models from the JVC in-dash headunit.

iPod/iPhone Audio Playback: The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's large music libraries to be loaded instantly to the JVC headunit and sound quality to be maximized through the headunit's 24-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 102dB. The JVC Arsenal KD-A725 supports audio playback of music files, podcasts, and apps stored on your iPod or iPhone.

iPod/iPhone Control: You can choose to control the iPod/iPhone from the headunit or from your iPod/iPhone's clickwheel or touchscreen.

      • Music Browsing: From the headunit's front-panel controls you can search your iPod/iPhone's music by Category (Playlist/Artist/Album/Song/Genre/Composer). If the selected category contains a high number of tracks, you can fast search (+/-10, 100, 1000) through the music tracks in that particular category by simply turning the headunit's control dial.
      • Repeat & Random: The KD-A725 also supports Repeat (file/all) and Random (album/all) playback functions of your iPod/iPhone.

Note: You can listen to apps stored on your iPod touch or iPhone through the JVC headunit when controlling the iPod/iPhone via its touchscreen (cannot access apps via Headunit control mode).

iPod/iPhone Display: The KD-A725 will display your iPod/iPhone's music file information, regardless of control mode. The headunit will display Track number, Elapsed playing time, Artist name, Song title, and Album label.

Pandora App: The Pandora App (free) lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the JVC Arsenal KD-A725 using your connected Apple iPhone, via the USB/iPod connector cable (included with your iPhone). The JVC KD-A725 provides control over the Pandora music service and displays Artist, Album, and Song information. You can select Pandora stations from your station list, and skip song tracks within a station. You can also give songs a thumbs up/down and bookmark songs/artists. To access Pandora you must have an Apple iPhone (iOS3 or later) with the latest version of the Pandora application from Apple's iTunes App Store. Your iPhone will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. You will also need a Pandora music service account.

Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada and only available in the United States.

iPod/iPhone Charging: While connected and the ignition switch is set to ACC or ON, the headunit's USB connection will power and charge your iPod/iPhone.

Note: If your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it.

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the headunit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software version or wait until a newer software update is available.

Auxiliary Input: A front-panel stereo minijack is provided to allow the connection of a portable audio source. Simply connect your portable digital music player to the unit's front-panel auxiliary input, and you can listen to the audio from the portable player through the speakers in your mobile audio system.

Auxiliary Input Adapter for JVC (469JVCJRCA), both sold separately, may be used to provide an additional auxiliary audio input on this unit. This feature allows you to connect a portable audio player, such as a portable MP3 player, to this unit as an additional audio source. The adapter connects to the J-port on this unit.

      Bluetooth/Remote Control

Optional Bluetooth: The unit's front- or rear-panel USB port can also be used to connect JVC's KS-BTA50 Bluetooth/USB Adapter (105KSABTA5, sold separately). The KS-BTA50 gives you hands-free communication from your compatible Bluetooth mobile phone and wireless streaming audio from a Bluetooth enabled digital audio player. The optional JVC Bluetooth/USB Adapter includes an external microphone and allows you to operate your mobile phone from the JVC headunit's controls. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have this stereo in my 02 GMC Sierra extended cab with the stock speakers and two Sound Ordinance BT-8 powered subs. It's perfect. This head unit is built with just the right combination of controls and options for this type of system. With a minimum of time invested I have mine adjusted perfectly for almost any type of music. I can switch from country to dubstep with little to no adjustments. Great head unit.
      Pros:
Easy install took approximately 20 minutes. The ability to control my USB components from the head unit. (Pandora)
      Cons:
      I can't think of anything.

      Great Aftermarket Radio

Written By Sharon, Ringoes, NJ on Friday, February 03, 2012
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the KD-A725 to replace the stock radio in my '94 F350. My choice was made after talking to a Crutchfield rep and reveiwing the features on several other radios.

It was a little difficult mounting the new radio as there was not a lot of room in my older dashboard for all the wires. After a little adjusting, the radio fit fine. The sound quality over my old speakers is amazing from both the FM and CD's.

My only complaint is the instruction manual is not set up for a non-audiophile or for an "older" adult not used to all the new tech stuff. Has taken a while to learn all the controls but I'm really enjoying the Pandora feature.
      Pros:
Sound quality, Pandora and Bluetooth features. Color adjustment is great especially for night driving.
      Cons:
Instruction manual is a little too brief. JVC should take notes from their in-home radio set-up.

As the stars show, the sound quality is excellent--especially playing iPod via USB. I ran the rear USB into a compartment just below the unit, where you can put the iPod and hide the wires associated with iPods. The only reason it doesn't get 5 is the interface. It needs a lot of work! But, you get used to it,

      Very happy with this deck

      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I easily installed this in my 2001 VW Jetta. I did tons of research before buying. I am very happy with this deck. I still have stock speakers and I'm not an "audiophile", so it meets my needs. It did take a while studying the manuel and playing with it to set it up and learn the controls. Using the FM radio can be a little difficult with a lack of preset buttons, but I don't listen to the radio much so this is not a problem. The big reason I bought it was the front and rear bluetooth inputs. I use the rear for my iphone and tuck the cable and iphone into the dash pocket. I purchased the Bluetooth kit and have the little usb bluetooth plugged into the front, with the mic mounted on my steering column. I wish the usb bluetooh plug fit flush with the deck and didn't have a little TINY flashing light, but these are minor issues that don't bother me. My iphone works well over the bluetooth for phone calls and for music. Most of the time I use the rear jack connector to charge and play music. I have no regrets on this purchase. The adjustable colors are fun too. They weren't a factor in the purchase but I have enjoyed them more than I expected. I have the colors bright white for day use, then when I flip my headlights on a night, I have the deck colors set to red and blue to match my dash lights---COOL!
      Pros:
Front and rear usb. Bluetooth kit. Cool color settings.
      Cons:
      Lack of FM preset buttons.

Very nice, feature-rich, good iPad control in a low-fi Receiver

Installed in a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit based on its European tuning, iPod controls, fitting a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and the relatively large two-line display. I am pleased with this receiver for the price. Installation was fairly easy with the Crutchfield kit. Having both front and rear USB is great, though I ended up using the front one for the Bluetooth adapter. It would be nice if it had BT in the unit to allow one to actually USE both USB ports for iPad, thumbdrive, etc. I was able to match up the display colors to my now-ancient car lights and displays. I am also glad I did not go with one of the more expensive units with four-line displays. The two lines allow for relatively large fonts and it is easier for me to read. In bright light the display washes out, but in moderate or dim light it is fine. One thing that bugs me is that the menu options when controlling my iPod Touch work ok, but not in a way that I would have set them up. I can get several ways of displaying the songs, but not Artist/Song or Song/Artist. I can get Album/Artist, and Song/Clock and a couple others. It also takes several seconds to start scrolling a long title display. I guess I'm too impatient for that. Also, when scanning thru my VERY long list of artists, it typically shows a number (like "137") for a moment before it reads the actual text and shows the name of the artist. Sound is decent. Plastic main knob feels cheap. Can't wait to install my new Polk speakers now!
      Pros:
Value, features, front and rear USB, European tuning, large display font, remote control, ease of installation, equalizer,
      Cons:
Display washes out in bright light, BT occupies one USB port, long text takes too long to start scrolling, does not read and have artist names ready for display when scanning on iPod, cheap feel - particularly of the main knob

      Great Replacement Unit

Written By Dick, Destin, FL on Friday, January 13, 2012
Installed in a 1991 Pontiac Trans Am
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this to replace the original 1.5 DIN radio/cassette player. My choice was primarily based on powerfull sound, rear USB input, HD expandability, IPOD connectivity with head unit control, and front, rear, and sub woofer pre-outs. Other important factors were build quality, appearance, and the ability to install the unit into the 1.5 DIN cavity in the dash. The car is a 1991 Pontiac Trans Am with a modified speaker set-up and I primarily listen to FM, C and an older, 5th Gen, IPOD. I will not be using the phone or bluetooth functions. Since the car is a convertible, I wanted something that had a strong amplifier and maintained good quality sound to come through the road noise.

This unit met all of my requirements. The hook-up and installation kits provided by Crutchfield, free along with the unit, made the swap easy. The end product looked like it was installed in an audio shop, not my garage. The wiring harnesses matched up perfectly and the installation kit kept everything clean and tight. There were no gaps between the dash and the radio when using the standard installation kit parts. Total time to do the installation was about 2 hours.

Using the rear USB connection, my IPOD is now securely in my center console without any unsightly cables hanging off the dash. The IPOD clarity is superb and the unit's FM reception is distortion free. I am very pleased with the product and may buy a second unit for another car of mine.
      Pros:
Dual USB connectivity, older IPOD functionality, appearance, control button locations on the faceplate, HD expandability, and the many color options for the illumination of controls and the display.
      Cons:
Written directions for the install kit were insufficient and the limited descriptive information in the user manual leaves the owner looking for help in other forums. Controls are no worse than any other brand and will take a little time to get set to my liking for sound quality.

Installed in a 2002 Subaru Outback
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I haven't owned too many aftermarket decks. Glad I ended up shopping around a little more. I bought this after I returned a Kenwood deck (KDC-X395) because the button backlighting and display were way too bright for driving at night, the main control knob was too slick and almost impossible to grip, and the FM reception was poor. I thought I could live with the Kenwood deck, but after a month I decided there was better stuff out there. This JVC solves all those problems. Just goes to show you what good design is all about. I've only had this head unit for two days and I love it. Getting the sound dialed to where I like it didn't take long. Getting the display and button lighting set to the color and brightness level I want was also pretty easy. (you can define both a nighttime display setting and a separate daytime setting...NICE!) The removable faceplate feels a lot more solid than the Kenwood also. The only thing lacking was some hardware for the install with my factory bracket on my Subaru. And the "loudness" feature really sounds muddy to me. Doesn't seem like it adds that much and detracts from the quality of the sound. This head unit sounds just fine with my 6 1/2" speakers (Kenwood KFC-1662s). Surprising amount of bass comes through. Couldn't be happier.
      Pros:
Great sound. Dimmable display AND button backlighting. Nice long cord for the rear USB input. Gripy main control knob. Ipod control is easy enough. FM reception better than my last deck.
      Cons:
M5x8 mounting screws were not supplied (to work with my factory mounting bracket), but not a huge problem to go to my local hardware store. "loudness" feature sounds muddy.

      Revived My Hardbody Sound System

Written By James, Springfield, MO on Tuesday, November 22, 2011
Installed in a 1987 Nissan Hardbody
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this head unit to replace an old Kraco unit in my truck. Was impressed with the array of color options it had so I could match the dash instrument panel color (classic 80s Nissan - Orange). I have taken several trips in the truck since then and been extremely pleased with it's ability to produce fuller and cleaner sounds from the same speakers. The Pandora control has made long trips to St. Louis so much more enjoyable - and commercial free! The included remote allows you to Thumb Up or Down the songs as well as skip them without needing to use the buttons on the head unit.

You can also control an iPod, which I've messed with for a little while, but haven't quite gotten down 100%. Which is fine - I personally use Pandora a lot more anyway. There are a lot of options on this unit and there's a bit of a learning curve.

My only concern (and it's a small one) is the detachable faceplate feels very flimsy. Take your time when you pull it off and put it on, as I suspect it can be broken pretty easily.
      Pros:
Sound Quality, Color Options, Interface with iPhones, Pandora Control, Sub Pre-Amp outs
      Cons:
The detachable faceplate feels very flimsy.

I bought this stereo to replace the factory stereo in my 2005 Chevy Malibu. I purchased the Dash Adapter to go with it. With the directions that were provided the installation was time consuming, but worth the effort. I had to solder a lot of wires, but other than that the stereo fit well and looks great. The sound is a lot better than the OEM stereo originally installed.
      Pros:
Great sound. Good price. Delivered in 5 days. Connecting the iPod to either back or front of stereo is great since the back wire can be hidden in glove compartment or other nook. The USB connection keeps the iPod charged and the stereo can work through the playlists without touching the iPod.

      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My Honda Six-Changer died over a year ago; so I bought a $120 Pioneer Car Receiver - it sounded even better, but it died six months in, so Crutchfield stood behind the product and repaired it; died again a month after repair, and this time Crutchfield made a refund. So, they recommended two products - a $100 Kenwood and the JVC Arsenal KD A725. I'm glad I stepped up - it was worth it and this sounds much better than the other two, and has more features - all the colors are fun, but I really love the tone selector on the remote - it permits a much better "fit" by the individual tracks, as I listen to music from all over the last 70 years, all recorded differently.
      Pros:
It's great - worth stepping up to at this price point!
      Cons:
      What's not to love?

      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, I really like this head unit. Once the settings are tuned, sound quality is amazing. As with most pieces of audio equipment, don't expect it to sound amazing without any tinkering. The features are great, it allows a wide range of flexibility in tweaking the audio parameters to meet your desires. I also love the ability to change the colors on the display separately (buttons and screen). It keeps the receiver looking less tacky by matching it to the car. There are a few shortcomings, however. For one, I would love a programmable knob or switch. I listen to alot of different music and miss being able to adjust my subwoofer level on the fly. I also don't enjoy that when the unit displays ipod information, the song title, etc, are eventually replaced with track number and time counter. My last gripe is that certain generations of ipod must be controlled by the head unit (compared with controlling the ipod with its own buttons). I prefer using the ipod screen as it displays more information at once.

Tl;dr- Pros: -awesome sound quality -tons of options to customize sound -great price -ipod interface

Cons: -could have more easily accessible features (like sub leve adjust) -ipod control options depends on what model ipod you own -track info display warrants improvement
