Perfect fit. The kit snapped right in the dash and then the stereo snapped right in after. No screws or brackets necessary. Easiest install ever. I highly recommend.

Great Adapter Kit for Ford Focus 2003

I had a normal 2 in high Pioneer DEK-17 in dash reciever/cd player I saved from my old car. The 2003 focus had a Blaupunkt factory stereo. This adapter worked as described. The adapter snapped easily into the large space in the dash which was left after removing on Blaupunkt unit. The narrower Pioneer receiver cage fit perfectly into the adapter unit. I installed the wiring adapter (I almost got the wrong one but the Crutchfield computer prompted me of the problem and I changed my selection to the correct one) and hooked up my Pioneer unit to the cars wiring harness. I popped it into the dash worked perfect and it looks great. Looks factory installed, except it says Pioneer on the front of the stereo. I only had to switch a couple of wires in the wiring adapter. Don't worry the instructions that came with the adapter tells you exactly which wires and for which cars. Simple adjustment. The old Blaupunkt units screen was going bad and I would have switched the stereo out sooner if I had know it was so simple. Thanks Crutchfield for making its so easy!

Perfect fit. Looks like factory dash piece. Wife loved the small storage space below stereo that we now have. Easy installation.

One of the reasons for buying from Crutchfield, besides the competitive prices and good service, was that everything needed is included. With the in-dash kit, one simply inserts it into the opening in the dash and then drops the radio in. The plastic is flimsy and could see how one could break it if not careful. Unit is now squeaking a bit, coupling to some vibration in the car - quiets when you press on the plastic below the radio. May try adding a small block there to see if that helps. Also, requires a separate tool (provided) to remove the radio. Not the tool used to remove the factory radio. also, for the focus, have to remove a plastic tab in the middle (for installation in a Mercury Cougar)

Pros:

easy to install

Cons:

flimsy, bevel they provide doesn't fit radio and there is a gap between bevel that came with radio and this adapter. Not bad, but definitely has an aftermarket look to it.

It just doesn't get any better than this. I thought only guys were capable of installing their own stereos. This was easier than cooking a microwave meal. DIY is great!

Easy to cut the required tabs for the Focus, and it fits perfectly in the DIN spot. With the Alpine receiver we bought, it looks great and seems secure. The little slot underneath is good for the USB cable & Sansa Clip.

This adapter fit like a glove. The housing is a little weak on it's own but once it has the rest of the dash to support it, it's quite sturdy. Just be careful handling it before hand.

Cons:

Weak joint where the storage box meets the receiver opening.

Used in a 2004 Ford Focus Sedan. Fits well. Car dash is smooth whereas this has a matte finish but it looks OK. Easy to install. Removing the Cougar tabs was a pain, but simple enough to do. The instructions are clear and easy to follow.

The receiver kit fit tightly and securely. The head unit slid in perfectly and the trim around it came out clean. Only issue is that the piece of plastic above the cavity space bows a little bit, but besides that everything was perfect.

This kit fits really good and is easy to install. The finish trim is poor quality. It has very small tabs that push in but they break very easy and cause a rattle noise. To fix this either use the trim from the radio or you will have to use some kind of adhesive glue to attach the trim piece around the radio. I would still recommend this kit.
