Features
Overview: The Bose 3·2·1 GS Series III DVD Home
Entertainment System uses Bose proprietary TrueSpace signal processing technology to
provide an improved spaciousness from stereo recordings and bold movie effects
from surround-sound sources. The Bose 3·2·1 GS Series III Home Entertainment
System contains one Media Center, two Gemstone Speaker Arrays, and an
Acoustimass Module. TrueSpace signal processing technology delivers a
convincing surround sound experience for music, movies, and TV using only these
two speakers and a hideaway bass module.
Media Center: The media center combines a DVD/CD player
and an AM/FM tuner with 40 presets. The DVD/CD player supports the following
discs: DVD-Video, Video CD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-Audio, CD-R, SACD (CD-compatible
content only). The
media center will also play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R discs using the
ISO 9660 format (Multi-session discs and ID3 tags are not supported).
The built-in tuner allows you to store up to 20 AM and 20 FM stations. Once a
station is stored in memory, you can select it using the remote control or the
on-screen menu.
Gemstone Speaker Arrays: The
two speaker arrays, combined with TrueSpace surround digital processing
circuitry, deliver extraordinary sound. Neodymium iron boron magnets provide a
powerful magnetic field to produce sound from a tiny transducer and offers a
high level of performance from a remarkably small speaker. Each speaker array has an M5 female threaded
insert on the back, allowing the speaker to be mounted using an optional Bose
wall/ceiling bracket, universal floor stand, or universal table stand. Using the
supplied rubber feet, the speaker arrays can be placed on any flat surface.
Acoustimass Module: The Acoustimass module works in concert with the small speakers to deliver the full
range of sound. The patented Bose design produces low frequencies for all
channels with no audible distortion. When the module is tucked behind a curtain
or chair, all of the sound seems to come directly from the two arrays. The
Acoustimass Module should be placed at the same end of the room as the gemstone
speaker arrays and your TV.
1080p HDMI Upscaling:
The media center is equipped with an HDMI output for a digital video connection
between the Bose DVD Home Entertainment System and your television. The HDMI
output can be set to upscale your 480i DVDs to 480p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p to
match the resolution of your connected television. The HDMI
output will also output 2-channel stereo to your television's speaker if
desired.
Progressive Scan
Output: Progressive-scan video has less flicker and fewer motion
artifacts than the traditional interlaced-scanning method, resulting in a
superior picture. To take advantage of this feature, you must have a television
with component video inputs that supports the progressive scanning mode. The
component outputs on this unit can be set to pass either progressive or
interlaced video.
Video Pass-Through: The Bose media center features a
composite video and S-video input which allows you to pass either a composite
video or S-video signal from an external video source through the Bose media
center to your television via composite video or S-video. You can only use one
of these pass-through inputs and you must output the same input connection to
your television. The composite video and S-video inputs will not pass through
the unit's HDMI or component video outputs.
Video Settings: You can adjust the following video
settings.
-
TV Type: select either 16:9 over 4:3 for the unit's
video output to match the aspect ratio of your connected television
-
DVD Image: select either a Modified or Original DVD
image
- Modified: allows the Bose system to automatically provide the
resolution that is preferred for your TV (480i/p, 720p, or1080i/p), so
the image fills the screen, depending on your connection method
- Original: keeps the images in the original DVD format (in 480
or 576 resolution), regardless of how it fills the screen or connection
method
- Black Level: adjust the video black level to Normal or Extended
(only if TV is connected via composite or S-video)
Audio Inputs: In addition to listening to the media center's
built-in DVD/CD player and AM/FM tuner, you can connect three external audio
sources to the Bose 3·2·1 system. The media center features analog stereo
inputs, coaxial digital inputs, and a digital optical input for three external sources (TV, Cable/Sat, and
Auxiliary). Each input's source level can be adjusted from Normal, -6, -3, +3,
or +6. The video output of these audio/video devices will need to be connected
directly to your television.
Videostage 5 Decoding Circuitry:
This proprietary Bose technology allows you to hear simulated five-channel home
theater sound from practically everything you play, even older TV programs and
videotapes that weren't recorded in surround sound.
Audio Settings: You can adjust the following audio
settings:
-
Movie EQ:
optimizes the tonal balance for movies
-
Range Compression:
range compression automatically adjusts the volume to allow you to hear soft
sounds and to prevent you from being overwhelmed by a loud special effect,
such as an explosion
-
Mono Decoding:
automatically engages Bose Videostage decoding when a mono program is sensed
-
Bass And Treble: adjust Bass and Treble independently
from -14 to +14
-
Audio Delay: adjusts the audio delay in reference to
the video display from 0 to 8; each number change adjusts the delay by
approximately 30 milliseconds
Repeat Play:
When playing a DVD, you can repeat the current chapter. When
playing an audio CD, you can repeat the current track or the entire disc. Using
the AB Repeat feature, you can repeat a portion of a DVD by selecting the
starting and stopping points for the section to be repeated.
Random Play:
When playing an audio CD, you can play the tracks in random order.
Multi-Angle Display:
This function allows you to choose the viewing angle of scenes that were shot
from a number of different angles.
Note:
This function is limited to
DVDs recorded with multiple camera angles.
Parental Control: This
system allows you to set playback restrictions for DVDs using Parental Control.
Parental Control allows you to restrict playback according to a predetermined
level. You can select a Parental Control rating from 0-8, which is protected by
a 4-digit password.
Sleep Timer:
The sleep timer turns the system off after a set period of time. You can adjust
the sleep timer from 10 to 90 minutes.
Display Settings: The Bose media center offers the following display
settings.
- Display Brightness: adjusts the unit's display from 1 to 4
- Display Language: adjusts the unit's on-screen display text from
English, Dansk, Deutch, Espanol, Francais, Italiano, Nederlands, or Svenska
Wireless Remote Control: The 3·2·1 GS Series III comes supplied with
an IR wireless remote control for full operation of the Bose DVD Home
Entertainment System. The supplied remote control can also be programmed to
operate other brand's of televisions and audio/video components.
