Easy access to the functions you need

The Harmony 300i has a dedicated "Watch TV" button that will turn on your TV, cable box, and whatever other component you need to start watching television — all at the press of a single button. It also has five programmable buttons that allow you to personalize the remote for the functions you use the most. You can program your favorite channels to one or all of the four buttons, or assign functions like switching the screen size or accessing video-on-demand content.

    Overview: The Harmony 300i Universal Remote provides simple, intuitive control of even the most elaborate entertainment system for anyone in the family. The remote setup is accomplished through Harmony's interactive web site. The Harmony 300i remote can control up to 4 audio/video components (TV, Cable/Satellite, DVD/Blu-ray, and VCR/AUX).

    Simple Online Setup: The Harmony Remote Activities are configured through unique Web Wizard tools on the Harmony Remote website. Using Logitech's Smart State Database of over 225,000 electronic devices from over 5,000 manufacturers, you can easily customize the remote to your system. The database, together with IR learning, ensures support of all infrared-controlled devices made by any manufacturer, including Televisions, A/V Receivers, Cable/Satellite Boxes, VCRs, DVD Players, CD Players, Game Consoles, Mini Systems, Computers, and Home Automation devices.

    Simple Button Layout: The Harmony 300i's buttons are intuitive and grouped in ways that make sense, so its simple for anyone to use. The button functions include:

    • "Watch TV" Button: Turn on your TV and cable/satellite box with just the press of a single button.
    • My Devices: To operate a device, just click the device you want to operate from the remote control. You can choose from TV, DVD, Cable/Sat, or VCR/Aux.
    • TV Input: This button allows you to easily cycle through your TV's video inputs.
    • Frustration-Free Volume: The volume controls can stay assigned to whichever of your devices you prefer. The mute key lets you instantly mute or un-mute the audio.
    • Guide/Menu Buttons: The Harmony 300 allows you to access your component's menu and your TV's channel guide.
    • Programmable Buttons: You can program specific buttons (1-5), so you can jump to your favorite channels, or switch screen sizes and access video-on-demand content (if applicable).
    • Blu-ray Buttons: The remote contains dedicated buttons for Blu-ray playback (red, blue, green, and yellow).
    • DVR Controls: The remote provides the commands you need for recorded TV. The List key brings up your DVR's recorded programs, while the Live button lets you jump directly to live TV.
    • Playback Controls: The remote's playback controls consist of Play, Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, Rewind, Skip, Replay, and Record.
    • Numeric Keypad: The Harmony 300 remote provides a numeric keypad (0-9, .+) to access your favorite channels directly. There is also a channel up/down key and previous channel button for selecting channels.

    Flash Memory: The settings are stored in a non-volatile flash memory so they will never be lost, even when the batteries are being changed.

    USB Port: The Harmony 300i remote features a mini-USB type-B connector. The supplied mini-USB type-B to USB type-A cable allows you to connect the remote to your computer for online setup.

    AA Batteries: The remote is powered by two standard "AA" batteries (alkaline batteries included).

    I am using this for a basic system in the rec room, TV, DVD, CD, and Receiver. The programming was very quick and easy, the hardest part was getting a model number off my TV. After the online setup everything worked perfectly, buttons were intuitive, and everyone is happy to get rid of all the component remotes.

    None, for a basic system, I would recommend moving up a model or two for a complex audio or home theatre system

    Easy to program additional functions. The Sling Catcher device has couple odd buttons but was able to program it without any problem.

    On the whole, this is pretty useful. It was very easy to set up. I am still getting used to it, so I need to have cheatsheet so I know which function I assigned to each button for each device. The watch TV button is good for tuning things on and off; but I thought it would work like my other Harmony remote and blend the features for each device to the appropriate button; which it doesn't quite do.

    Watch TV button configuration doesn't assign the functions to the buttons to integrate the actions of all of the devices; there is still the need to switch among the devices.

    Its a cool remote for my home theater needs. the software is very user friendly thanks to the folks at logitech!! GREAT JOB!! But im bummed out cause the next day after i ordered my remote i saw a better one at tigerdirect for the same price same manufacturer and you could program up to 5 devices and it had a little screen wich is what i wanted. Nothing bad to say about remote whatsoever but its like what to do now????

    Not as simple to use as hoped

    Our primary hope was to get a remote that operates the TV and DVD / VHS combo player. It's a bit confusing to run the DVD as you have several steps of powering on the DVD, the TV and switching back to DVD to operate that device. Also, there does not seem to be a way to open and close the DVD tray from the remote - have to use the original DVD remote to do that or do it manually. This remote also seems to have less power - it has to be pointed directly at the TV system to change channels, adjust volume, etc. Our existing satellite TV remote is more powerful and the TV responds to changes from a wider angle and further away. We were hoping to help my mom by getting her a universal remote as well and we thought we would try this, but this is definitely too many steps for an older person to manipulate, when using a DVD. The "watch TV" button is very good of course - just one button is needed. It would be nice if there was a "watch DVD" button as well to simplify that but it's not on this device. We need to keep looking for something simple like that to do both TV and DVD.

    Excellent prodouct. I had avoided purchasing a remote because so many reviewers said they were difficult to program and set up. SInce the remote for my DVD player finally died, I could have purchased another remote from the manufacturer but at a ridiculous cost. So, I started reading reviews, and decided on the Harmony 300i. I purchased the remote from Crutchfield after my brother told me about their fantastic technical service. So far, I haven't had to use this service as I ahd no problem whatsoeve getting the remote up and running.

    300i - Perfect for what I need

    I have four devices (TV, Cable Box, Blu Ray player and Receiver) and this controls each one beautifully. If you have a relatively straight forward set-up and want to get rid of the clutter, I can't think of anything better for the price. I was surprised to see that there is no product that fills the void between Logitech's 300i and its higher-end products for $100+, but trust me you don't need anything more sophisticated that this.

    I got this primarily because when I introduced a receiver and new speakers to the mix, my wife was unable (unwilling) to learn how to use the different remotes. To be fair, the Pioneer receiever remote is way to complicated and poorly laid out. But the point is that I didn't need an LCD display or even an LCD touch-screen on my universal remote (only to shatter or spider-web when thrown and dropped by me or my kids). BEST FEATURE by far is the dedicated volume setup. You can have all other buttons control the cable box, but the volume button stays teathered to the receiver. So no switching between inputs to control the volume.

    This works perfectly and can be easily replaced at the price point. Also, you can check harmony-compatible devices beforehand on their website.
    Pros:
    Dedicated volume control, price and simplicity. I also like that the 300i remote lay-out appears to be based on existing cable-box remote lay-outs, so the learning curve is pretty minimal.
    Cons:
    If I had to nit pick... maybe the setup process on myharmony.com?

    Contacted Ozzy @ Crutchfield for some direction on the problem I was trying to solve. Some remotes for products I purchased were not too responsive. Again Crutchfield's top-notch support was dead on. If you've got ANY 4 units to control, this is it. Just as he stated, it works flawlessly and was too easy to setup. The family thinks I'm a genius and everybody loves using one remote for everything.

    I hedged back and forth for weeks on whether to get this or not. For the price I finally said "heck with it" and bought it. I am so glad I did. My comcast universal remote is so weak and limited. This Logitech Harmony 300i not only sends out a very strong IR signal, bouncing off just about any wall or angle I shoot it at, but I also love how it holds in my hand ergonomically.

    As far as setup is concerned, I found the process very simple. You have to have an internet connection on your computer (who doesn't?) and connect your remote via the included USB cable. (I have a Mac computer.) Also I like the fact that you can assign commands for the buttons. You don't have to use the factory presets. Very nice feature.

    All in all, well done Logitech.

    If you have 4 components or less like me (I have 4...TV, Blu-Ray, Cable Box, A/V Receiver), then this thing is a great choice. No need to spend the big $ for one that has an LCD screen or other fancy unnecessary things. I find often times in technology, just having buttons you can push is much simpler than the whole touch screen thing.
    Pros:
    Great ergonomics (holds well and buttons push very nice), Strong IR signal output, programmable buttons, easy setup, affordable
    Cons:
    Would love if it also had an RF signal output

    First, I own and realy enjoy a Logitech 650. This 300 requires you to use their myharmony website for setup. After trying 3 computers, several emails, an hour on the phone, still no luck. I have built many computers so having ruled all things out, their software and customer support is terrible. The concept is great...just needs to work. Guess all their IRAD goes to the higher end remotes. Thought an inexpensive universal remote with PC interface was too good to be true. Well....it is. Save your money!

    Can't be beat

    I have had a Harmony One (which stopped working) then bought a Harmony 900 (which is great because of all the activities you can program etc). The 900 however is a whole different kind of remote than the One ever was. The 900 is slow to respond and really not ready for primetime. The battery of the 900 had to be replaced once already.

    I then figured, what the heck, let's give the 300i a try. At $30 I can't go wrong.

    The 300i, although it only has one activity capability and controls only 4 devices, it is all we need for daily operations! At 1/10 of the price of the 900.

    You can't beat the online setup. Don't be fooled by remote makers that say you don't need a computer to set it up. If you don't need a computer then you have to sit there screwing around with instructions on a 2" screen. Forget it, Harmony rules, and the Harmony 300i beats anything in its price range.

    We bought this remote over a month ago, and it is now the only remote that we use or
    need. For the price, it is excellent. With our old Panasonic dvd player, there were a
    couple of functions that the remote could not do, but it has worked with everything else
    just fine (including our Apple TV). There is a "Watch TV" button that you can set up so
    that when you press it, all of the components you need come on with the desired inputs
    selected, which is great. The only thing I would change about this remote would be to
    add more buttons like that. Maybe some of the more expensive ones have that, but the
    price jump to the next one is pretty big. This remote learns functions if needed, and the
    customization process for which buttons do what is easy and wide open.
