Driver Technology
Drivers: The Bose 151SE
Environmental Speakers feature three 2-1/2" full range drivers. These
glass-filled speaker cones offer reliable, high-quality sound reproduction
across the audible frequencies, even under extreme temperature and weather
conditions.
Articulated Array: The three
drivers are arranged in an arc inside the speaker for a wide dispersion. This
"Articulated Array" delivers full, lifelike sound over a large
listening area.
Stereo Everywhere: When mounted horizontally at a minimum of 7 feet apart, the speakers
deliver "Stereo Everywhere" performance. The result is evenly
distributed stereo sound outdoors with distinct channel separation over a wide
coverage area, instead of in one small "sweet spot." Note: When
the speakers are mounted vertically, you will not experience the "Stereo
Everywhere" effect.
Enclosure Design
Cabinet: The speakers feature a
glass-filled polypropylene cabinet for yearlong protection against weather
extremes.
Slot-Port Tuning: The speakers
feature slot ports on the rear panel to reduce air turbulence for cleaner and
deeper bass reproduction.
Weather-Tested: Bose outdoor
speakers are tested against snow, rain, salt and temperature extremes of -40°F to 158°F (-40°C to 70°C). They are also put through 1,200 hours of salt-fog
testing, which is twice the demanding Marine Industry Standard.
Connections
Terminals: The speakers are
equipped with binding post speaker terminals that can accept pin connectors,
spade connectors, banana plugs or bare wire. They are spaced too far apart to
accept dual banana plugs.
Note: Exposed portions of the speaker wires
should be treated with some type of waterproof material to prevent corrosion.
Mounting Options
Brackets: The speakers include
weather-resistant brackets and hardware to withstand the elements. The brackets
allow the speakers to be mounted at an angle up to 45° in either direction
(Up/Down if mounted horizontally; Left/Right if mounted vertically). The
supplied locking screws hold the speakers in place at the desired angle. The
brackets mount the speakers approximately 13/16" away from the mounting
surface.
