headphones feature an around-the-ear design, with cotton velour covered ear
Sennheiser headphones adjust to the shape of your head, with their joints,
flexible materials and extendable arms. Comfortable cushions provide optimum
comfort in those places where sturdy material would rest on your head.
Optimized Transducer Orientation: These
headphones provide superbly natural sound reproduction and better localization
of sounds due to new transducer orientation (patent pending).
Diaphragms: The diaphragms of
dynamic headphones consists of a very thin film that is caused to move by an
attached coil. The less intrinsic oscillation this causes, the purer the sound
reproduction will be. Sennheiser diaphragms are made of Duofol, a material
specially developed by Sennheiser. As the diaphragm shape is optimized by
computer, intrinsic oscillation is avoided to a very large extent.
Voice Coils: The HD 590 headphones have voice coils made of aluminum, an
ultra-lightweight and very durable material. But Sennheiser takes this a step
further and only double-winds these voice coils. Such a low-mass coil, together
with an ultra-thin diaphragm, creates a part that can change direction very
quickly, allowing more of the electrical music signal to be converted into sound
Magnet System: These
headphones use computer-optimized neodymium-ferrous driver magnets for deep bass
and clear, crisp trebles.
Sintered Damping Elements:
Sennheiser's high-quality headphones use a specially developed (patent
pending) sintered bass damping element, which consists of semi-melted plastic
pellets. This design reduces unwanted resonance for a cleaner sound.
Cable: Sennheiser connection
cables are made of oxygen-free copper with Kevlar strands wound around the metal
for added durability. The contacts are gold-coated for greater conductivity. The
connecting cable is detachable.
Sennheiser headphones are modular for long service life. Ear cushions,
headbands, cables, and sometimes even driver elements are easily snapped out so
new ones can take their place.
