Our Product Research Team
At Crutchfield, you'll get detailed, accurate information that's hard to find elsewhere.
That's because we have our own in-house Product Research team — they open the box,
verify contents, check the owner's manual, and record dimensions, features and specs.
We stay on top of new products and technologies to help people make informed choices.

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and
measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard
advocates a uniform method for determining an amplifier's RMS power output and
signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage
of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4-ohm load with 1% or
less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N). Signal-to-Noise ratio is
measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4
ohms. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an
equal basis. Following the CEA-2006 criteria, the P1000X1D is rated at 500 Watts
RMS x 1 channel with an 80dBA signal to noise ratio. The signal to noise ratio
at the rated power output is 100dB.
1-Ohm Stable: The P1000X1D is stable down to 1-ohm. The
amplifier is rated at 1,000 Watts RMS x 1 channel into 1 ohm or 2 ohms.
Cast Aluminum Heatsink: The cast aluminum heatsink dissipates
heat generated by the amplifier's circuitry. The inherent advantage of casting
provides a 30% improvement of cooling over conventional extrusion heatsink designs.
DSM (Discrete Surface Mount): In the manufacturing process
high speed robotics are used to place 1% tolerance parts and large board traces.
DSM improves the efficiency of the circuit, decreases cross-talk from other discrete
components and lowers operating temperature.
Power and Protection LEDs: Power and Protection LEDs are located
on top of the amplifier. The Power LED glows red when the amplifier is turned on. The
Protect LED illuminates yellow if a short circuit or too low an impedance is detected
at the speaker connections. When any of the protection circuits engage, the amp
automatically shuts down until the problem is corrected.
Punch EQ2: The Punch EQ on-board equalization circuit helps
correct for acoustical deficiencies in the listening environment. This control
is a narrow band adjustment variable from 0dB to +18dB at 45Hz with a Gyrator
based Punch EQ that eliminates frequency shift with boost.
Infrasonic Filter: This high-pass filter, 24dB/octave, fixed
at 20 Hz, is designed to prevent frequencies below the audible range from being
applied to the subwoofer. This infrasonic filter improves your subwoofer performance
and power handling, particularly in vented enclosures.
Controls
Control Panel: The P1000X1D has top-mounted controls, covered
by a removable panel, including the following:
- Punch EQ: rotary control to adjust the
Punch EQ; 0-18 dB, centered at 45 Hz
- Internal Crossover: the low-pass crossover
point is continuously variable from 50Hz to 500Hz; the crossover
slope is 24dB per octave (the low-pass crossover cannot be bypassed)
- Infrasonic Filter: on/off; the crossover
point is fixed at 20Hz to 500Hz; the crossover slope is 24dB
per octave
- Phase: rotary control; the phase is
continuously variable from 0° to 180°
- Gain: rotary gain control; continuously
variable from 150mV to 5V (labeled 1 to 11)
Connections
Power Connections: The power and ground terminals are
nickel-plated set-screw wire connectors and will accommodate up to 4-gauge
wire. An external 100-amp fuse (not included) must be installed on the power
wire within 18 inches of the battery. If a wiring kit is used which includes
a fuse with a value other than 100-amps, the original should be replaced with
a 100-amp fuse. The remote turn-on terminal is also a nickel-plated set-screw
and will accept wire up to 10-gauge. The supplied 2mm and 4mm Allen wrenches
are required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
Speaker Connections: There are two sets of speaker outputs,
internally shorted together, to easily connect two subwoofers. The terminals are
nickel-plated set-screw wire connectors and will accept up to 10-gauge wire. The
supplied 2mm Allen wrench is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
RCA Inputs: The RCA input jacks are nickel-plated to resist
corrosion.
RCA Outputs: The amplifier also features a pair of Pass-Thru
RCA jacks which provide a convenient way to daisy-chain an additional amplifier
without running an extra set of RCA cables from the front of the vehicle to the
rear amplifier location. The RCA output jacks are nickel-plated to resist corrosion.
Remote Punch EQ (PEQ) Connection: An RJ-45 jack
is provided for connecting an optional remote PEQ control (575ROCKPEQ, sold separately).
Note: Previous model Punch Bass and Para-Punch remotes
will not work with this amp.
