Want hands-free phone operation and control of your phone's important features when behind the wheel? Parrot's CK3000 Evolution Bluetooth cell phone car kit connects to almost any car stereo system so you can take calls from your Bluetooth phone through your car's speakers.

The Evolution's control panel installs beneath the dashboard, so all you see is the small dash-mounted keypad and microphone. Once your car's engine starts, the Evolution connects automatically to your Bluetooth phone. With the external microphone mounted, just say a name and the Evolution takes care of the dialing. You control your phone's menu functions with the dash-mounted 3-button keypad. From dialing to phonebook to voicemail, the keypad and voice prompts will guide you easily through phone functions as you keep your eyes on the road. You can change the volume with the press of a button.

The voice recognition software remembers up to 150 names from your phone's address book for dialing (only works with certain phones). Noise reduction on the external microphone lets you carry on a conversation in a normal tone — no need to shout, even in heavy traffic. Most importantly, the Evolution is programmed to mute your car's radio at the onset of an incoming call, ensuring clear sound over your car's speakers.

    Overview: The CK3000 Evolution Car Kit connects to your factory stereo system so you can take calls from your Bluetooth phone through your car's speakers. The kit includes an electronic control unit, keypad, and separate microphone.

    Vehicle Compatibility: The Evolution car kit is compatible with select vehicle factory systems. Installation requires a vehicle-specific adapter. To verify compatibility with your vehicle, please use the Crutchfield Car Selector.

    Mobile Phone Compatibility: The Evolution is compatible with most Bluetooth mobile phones on the market including the Apple iPhone. The kit allows you to register up to three different mobile phones.     Note: Because the Evolution does not feature phonebook sync and the iPhone does not support Object Push or Voice Recognition, the Evolution will work as a speakerphone only when used with the iPhone.

    Microphone: The microphone features echo cancellation technology and background noise reduction, allowing conversations to remain clear despite noise in the vehicle.

    Keypad: The keypad includes the Answer and Hang Up buttons, and the central button, which allows you to adjust the call volume and access the kit's menu system.

    Voice Recognition: Thanks to the voice recognition feature, you can say a name and the Evolution will automatically dial the person's number. You can store up to 150 names in memory.

    Note: This function is only available on certain phones.

    TextFriendly: A new feature called TextFriendly is available for the CK3000 Evolution through a firmware update. It allows you to receive and answer texts and emails via voice. After a 6-month free trial period for new Parrot customers (or a 3-month free trial period for existing Parrot customers) a monthly fee is required to subscribe to TextFriendly.

    Magic Words: Magic words are keywords used to accept an incoming call or end a call, as well as activate the voice recognition feature without taking your hands off the wheel.

    Optional Speaker: The optional CK-70003S speaker kit allows you to enjoy hands-free convenience, without having to splice into your car's speaker wiring harness. The speaker has a proprietary rectangular 8-pin (2 pins present) connector that plugs into the supplied wiring.

    Installation

    Optional Adapters Available: An optional, vehicle-specific T-harness adapter may be available to simplify the installation of the Evolution car kit in your vehicle. The adapter plugs into this unit's power and mute cables, and it interfaces with your vehicle's factory wiring. Please, enter your vehicle in the "Outfit My Car" online vehicle selector to see if a T-harness is available for your vehicle.

    Installation Location: The electronic control unit mounts under your vehicle's dash and the keypad is mounted to the dash surface. The supplied hardware allow you to mount the microphone on a vent, visor, or on the dash.

    Power Cable: The power cable has a 4-pin Molex plug on one end that connects to the electronic control unit. The other end of the power cable has a 9" T-section, which plugs into the optional adapter and interfaces with the factory system.

    Mute Cable: One end of the mute cable has a 10-pin Molex plug that connects to the electronic control unit and a 4-pin Molex plug that connects to the supplied keypad. The other end of the mute cable has an 8-pin rectangular male connector and 8-pin rectangular female connector that plug into the optional adapter and interface with the factory system.

    This thing is really cool, if you don't want to change the head unit in your car. I recently bought a new/used car and really liked the stock radio so I ordered the Parrot. Good price, fast shipping, etc., however, it didn't work with my phone. I had it professionally installed, so no issue there. Turns out my android phone isn't compatible. The guy who installed it was able to make it work with HIS phone, so I know it works and its cool, however, check with support before you buy it and they can tell you if your phone is compatible. The ad stated it works with Android phones, but failed to mention its not compatible with ALL android phones. Tech support has a list of compatible phones. Other than that, very cool. (I ended up ordering a newer phone, just haven't gotten it yet).

    Overall, does the trick in a nice way. A couple of odd instances of dropping the BT connection initially (iPhone 4S, iOS 6), but they could be limited to this unit (Parrot tech support was very quick to respond via their online form). Would be a 5-star rating otherwise.

    Hardest part of installation is deciding where to locate the mic and controls, along with running the cables for each, but that's to be expected. Simple to use. I'd get a higher model next time to get BT music from the phone, but for making and receiving calls, it's just fine.
    Pros:
    Nice, small control unit. Simple to set up and use.
    Cons:
    A couple of BT connection drops, but that could be just this particular unit.

    Instructions are poor. I expect if you have a matching car, stereo and phone this would be an easy install. Not the case here. Harnesses are available but not for the Audiophile Lincoln system in this 2005 LS. If the instructions would address this it would have been a much quicker install. I spent more time researching what to do than I did doing this install. So since the Parrot would not work with the car speakers I also got the remote speaker. There is no mute jack to connect to on this stereo. So the simple install was cut off the harness. connect the 2 power and 1 ground wire. plug in the remote speaker. Pair your phones and it works. Done. Unless you have a phone that interfaces with the Parrot forget about all the cool voice recognition features you read in the description. Our Galaxy S III and HTC EVO don't interface. Strictly a hands free unit. It is very clear on both ends. Don't buy it for all the voice recognition unless your phone is on the list of compatible phones.

    Can't do software updates...

    Generally speaking, it's a decent car kit if you want something simple, you're just going to make quick calls, no music, and aren't worried about software updates. If you're like me and keep up with software, stay away from this kit. The user is NOT able to update, it must be done with a proprietary serial cable that only authorized Parrot dealers have, and for me the nearest one is at least an hour away. After talking to Parrot tech support, I have to say it kind of makes sense because this is an old kit (years old) and updates aren't released very frequently. However, if there is an update and it's something that affects your brand of phone, guess what, you're in for a big inconvenience if you want it done. On the lesser side of things, my wife said call quality is just fair. I can hear her just fine, but to her it's not very clear. For me the biggy is the software, so unfortunately it's going back and I'll be looking for another model, and it could very well be another Parrot where the user can do updates.

    Call quality decent, easy install with T-harness.
    Cons:
    Dealer must do software updates.

    I installed this (with the help of my brother) a couple of weeks ago and really love it. The sound quality on my end is fantastic and the microphone picks up my voice quite clearly. The installation was fairly simple, mainly because I also got a wiring harness. The only complication with the installation was knowing which mute wire to attach to but I got lucky on the first try. Absolutely no problem connecting my phone to the system.

    There are a few irritants with it. First, there appears to be an echo on the other end when a person talks to me. Now, I did put the microphone lower in order to hide it (instead of up by the visor as recommended) so it's possible that's the problem. Second, working through the menu system is not intuitive and I've had to change my language back to English multiple times!
    Pros:
    Great sound quality on my end, fairly easy installation, easy to use
    Cons:
    Echo on other end, menu system not that great.

    Bought this for my wife and it is great! I installed it in a couple of hours, but it would have gone faster if I had all the right tools and knew what I was doing. Her car is a 2009 Civic Hybrid, and I purchased a harness from ParrotKits. The hardest part of the install was removing the dash and hiding the harness/control box.

    Once up and running, I called my friend and talked for about half an hour driving through town, and on the freeway, and he never once asked me to repeat something I said. I then called my wife and she said it sounded great also, even on the freeway.

    This thing is so easy to use, which is great, because she will ditch it if she doesn't think it is easy. Haven't tried the voice dial, or any of that stuff. I just want the call quality to be good, and it is.
    Pros:
    somewhat easy to install, if you have a harness sounds great small size blends in to the dash
    Cons:
    the hangup button is a little stiff, but it still works wish the volume could go louder

    Very good Product

    A very capable unit that makes and receives calls with a clear reception on both ends. In order to make sense of the wiring one must use the instructions from Parrot along with the ones that come from Crutchfield. The whole project seemed a bit intimidating at first but as I started following the install instructions things got easier. You just need to make sure that you take it one step at a time and double check your connections. The matching vehicle wiring harness is an absolute must. I would not recommend anyone to try it without unless you are a professional installer. I installed mine on a 2011 Pathfinder and it works as promised. I had absolutely no problems and it came on the first time I started the car.
    Pros:
    Works very well. Better than the bluetooth that came with my stereo that I put into my previous vehicle. It is clear on both ends of the conversation and it has simple features.
    Cons:
    My cellphone is not compatible with this unit so I cannot use the extended features like voice command; however, it is still capable of receiving and making calls. That is all I really needed.

    Problems with sound quality and pairing

    I installed this kit in my mom's car about a year ago to comply with Maryland hand-held cellphone laws. It works, I guess. The sound quality on the receiving end is mediocre (sound quality in-car is fine), and the CK3000 keeps on forgetting the pairing, requiring my mom to re-pair frequently (and at random times). Last I checked, she had given up on using the kit because it was less distracting to talk hand-held than to get it to work.

    Good Bluetooth Kit

    I installed this car kit into a 2010 Hyundai Sonata GLS. I was happy to find ISO
    connectors on the stock radio, making the installation super easy. I paired this with a
    Droid, which paired but did not connect. After eraseing the Parrot memory (Holding the
    green & red buttons down for a few seconds), the Droid paired and connected. The
    pairing/connect operation is now automatic every time I start the car.

    Bluetooth call operation is very good; Audio output to the car speakers is very good, and
    all of those I have talked to using the Parrot have indicated they could hear me crisp and
    clear.

    I highly recommend this car kit to anyone looking for a convienient and well performing
    bluetooth car kit.

    I purchased the kit and wiring harness that is for a Dodge Grand Caravan. However upon receiving the kit and installing, there was no sound from the parrot kit. I later found out that I have an Infinity amplified system. I called Crutchfield and talked with tech support and was told that they (or the harness company - Metra) do not have any wiring harnesses that work with amplified systems. Tech support was great and informed me that there were companies that make these harnesses to work with amplified systems, and they worked with me to locate some of these companies. I then found a harness. The harness was plug and play, and a great product.

    Overall, installation was simple with the harness, minus tucking in all the new wires (I also have a USA Spec iPod integration). The sound quality is better than a headset, and the features are very easy to use. It IS iPhone compatible, which was a huge selling point for me, and uses all the features that come with the phone. If you have a very windy/loud car, you might need to modify your microphone by adding a 10 Ohm resistor into the line, which will take out the some of the sensitivity of the mic. All in all, great product!!!

    The device works pretty much as advertised. It has a hard time with my Verizon
    Blackberry Curve, For instance it pairs ok once, but then forgets it was paired the next
    time the car turns on Also, the sound quality is a little wonky on the recievers end and
    staticy inside the car. However my old Tmobile flip phone connects flawlessly every time
    and sounds crystal clear... I'm willing to blame RIM and Verizon :)

    This is not a plug and play Bluetooth device. I had this installed with ver 5.23 ...and it kept loosing pairing with my blackberry. Tried to get SW updated to ver 5.24 - and that is not easy....needs a serial connection cable, re-opening all the radio.

    Might do it if i have time, but it has not been a good experience....so just a reminder that this device has issues.

    Using the Parrot CK3000 is completely effortless. With my cell phone on and in my pocket, I sit in my car and turn on the ignition. The Parrot gives me a beep to tell me it is connected. If I get an incoming call, It silences the radio, announces the caller's name and rings through the car speakers. It answers the call and gives me another beep to tell me the line is open, and I say "hello". I talk with the caller hearing them through the car stereo speakers. When the caller hangs up, the call is ended and the radio comes back on. For the entire process, all I have to do is talk. Everything else is handled automatically.

    Outgoing calls are almost as easy. I have been buying from Crutchfield for over 15 years and they are the best.

    The hardest part of this installation is the removal of the radio and that wasn't hard with the instructions supplied by Crutchfield. The control box is kinda big and in some installations it might be a challenge to hide but it's not fussy and zip ties are your friends. I removed the pillar trim to hide the mike wire and make a sanitary installation; it looks good. After that, it's plug and play if you have the optional wiring harness. I would NOT attempt this install without the harness, it makes it so very easy that it's a no brainer.

    Quality of the Bluetooth is good, I may install one in my other car.

    I purchased the Evolution to replace the Parrot MINIKIT Slim because I liked the ability to have it mute the radio and play through the speakers. I went ahead and purchased the adapter wiring kit too because I wanted to keep my install clean. I have an after market stereo installed and use the RCA outputs to an amplifier. The adapter kit is meant for a system that is connected using the existing wiring not RCA plugs. I was able to connect it into the wiring between the amplifier and speakers with some success although the sound was not as good as expected. The thing that I could not get past was the amount of wiring and components that needed to be hidden someplace. The adapter is bulky as well as the units wiring harness. I removed the unit and will go with a head unit with built in Bluetooth to avoid the mess.

    Great product for the money! Crutchfield Tech Support is the best. Had issue with the
    first Parrot sent and they sent a new one. New one works perfect, I would get the
