Installation Note: This harness uses your factory amplifier; your new stereo must have two pairs of preamp outputs to connect this harness.

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you don't know how to use a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors that you'll use to attach the Crutchfield harness to your factory harness.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness makes installing your new stereo easier, and allows you to put the factory radio back when you sell your vehicle or return it at the end of the lease. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Features

Crutchfield Wiring Harness: Crutchfield wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Crutchfield wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Crutchfield wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Crutchfield wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required & sold separately.

Wiring harness for JVC into 2002 Eclipse

Written By Todd T., East Wenatchee, WA on Saturday, April 06, 2013
Installed in a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The wiring harnesses worked perfectly. HIGHLY recommend purchasing them. NOTE: when purchasing a unit for the Eclipse, make sure the unit has both front AND rear out puts so that the stock amp my be utilized. Also as a bonus, I was aware that the stock radio display would no longer be functional however the clock is still there.
Pros:
All's good
Cons:
None

It's a OK poduct...

Part connecting to rear of the unit was good. But speaker connections are another story. Had to cut and solder speaker wires . My factory stereo output has six output coaxial(something similar). Cructhfield wire harness offers only 4 speaker output. Looks like a crossover takes place somewhere. But the sound cannot be distinguished from separate speakers. The sound is clustered between two front and one rear speaker.Subwoofer sound sound is very minimal. I may have to take it to a professional installer.

Works Perfectly

Written By Greg B., Glen Burnie, MD on Thursday, December 29, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This integration harness worked perfectly for me. I installed my Pioneer DEH3200UB into my 2001 Galant GTZ and used the harness to connect the Infinity amp which is driving the seven speakers to the headunit. I also have a 12" Infinity Reference subwoofer I wanted to use, so I got two RCA Y-cables (has one male connector on one end and two female connectors on the other) and split my front preouts to connect all four RCA's to the front signal and used the rear signal for the subwoofer, so this harness CAN be used with a subwoofer! Just set the HPF on the deck so the inside speakers play no bass, and you are set, as the aftermarket radio will allow the volume to go higher than the stock headunit. Beautiful sound quality.

PERFECT FACTORY FIT

This worked perfectly to be able to use the factory Infinity amp without cutting up the harness. Many forums cried about the factory systems being hard to put aftermarket stuff on but this harness made it simple. A+++

This kit made the wiring job so much easier. I installed this kit in a '97 Eclipse Spyder convertible. When I got this car it had an old aftermarket stereo in the dash. This kit even came with the amplifier adaptor so I could use the factory amp I didn't even know I had. Everything came together so fast and easy thanks to this kit.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Wire Harness

Written By Marc, Arizona on Friday, January 23, 2009

Had the Infinity system in my '95 GSX, and used this harness when replacing the deck. This was great, plugged right in, made my life really easy. I've had to do all the wires in the past and that sucks, so this made things really fast.

ok for the right situation

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This connection works alright if you have the right stereo. If you want subs and your stereo doesnt have 6 outputs than this harness is useless. The speakers are hooked up to the RCA cables not the actual wire from the stereo. I tried cutting and attaching all sorts of connections but no matter what i did I either couldnt use my subs or I couldnt use my rear speakers. I didnt mind not using my rear speakers except they made a high pitch hum when not hooked up. If you dont want subs this makes the install really quick and easy. I had to return my stereo to crutchfeild so i could get one that has six outputs.

Not a BAD harness, BUT....

Written By Brian, Rockledge, FL on Saturday, October 11, 2008
Installed in a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well...It does fit the stock radio harness. But I had to go buy RCA female connections and solder them into the replacement radio's harness, so I could more easily connect the amplifier adapter to the radio replacement harness. The alternative was to cut the RCA male ends off, and attemt to separate the positive from the negative. I think just putting RCA female ends on the Kenwood's harness was easier for me to keep track of. You definately need to know your way around an electrical schematic, both for the original radio harness in the car and the one coming with what ever radio you're replacing it with. It gets a bit confusing, especially if your replacement radio requires a ground (and most do) because the crutchfield adapter does not have a ground wire. You'll have to use the one from your replacement radio harness. After I soldered the three harnesses together (the two from crutchfield and the one from the radio) it looked like a mess, but it worked fine.

Receiver Wire Harness

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Everything worked like a charm until I got to the wiring harness. I hooked it up but I had no power. After 1/2 hour of using my circuit tester I found that one of the wires in the harness was in the wrong slot. I removed the wire and moved it over and everything worked fine. Kind of annoying!

Horrible 'adapter'

Written By Butch, Corpus Christi, TX on Monday, October 06, 2008
Installed in a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've used Crutchfield install kits twice before and loved them. Made life easy. This time it was horrible. Its not a direct adapter to the harness, I still had to cut the speaker wires out of the stock harness and connect them to the Crutchfield adapter. The adapter only actually connects four wires of the whole bundle, the other 12 are speaker wires that I have to splice. Not to mention the fact Crutchfield doesn't have an install manual for my series of car (Mitsu 3000GT '91-99). And the kit came with the radio adapter, an amp adapter (which is actually nice and easy) and another adapter that attached to the stock harness, which like I said, is worthless as it only actually connects 4 of the 16 wires. Not happy with the kit.
