Features
Marine Receiver: The Clarion
CMD4A Marine CD receiver has been treated for use in the harsh marine
environment. The receiver meets or exceeds ASTM B117 Salt/Fog Exposure and ASTM
D4329 UV Exposure standards. The faceplate features a unique rubber gasket and
door assembly offering the internal components complete water protection. The top of the chassis is covered with an
integrated drip shield and mounting gasket to seal the bulkhead, and to further
augment the water-resistant faceplate. The
microprocessor and circuit board are sealed with a Pelgan Z conformal
clear coating to protect them from corrosion.
2-Band Equalizer: The receiver features
rotary bass and treble knobs with adjustable parameters, so it effectively has a 2-band
parametric equalizer. The gain, center frequency, and Q can be adjusted for bass and treble as
follows:
- Bass Gain: -6 to +6
(max adjustment is +/-15dB)
- Bass Freq: 60Hz, 100Hz, or
200Hz
- Bass Q: 1, 1.25, 1.5 or 2
- Treble Gain: -6 to +6
(max adjustment is +/-12dB)
- Treble Freq: 10kHz or
15khz
Contrast: You can
set the contrast level between 1 and 8 for best display visibility.
Auxiliary Input: This unit
features a rear mounted, stereo RCA auxiliary input on a 2-1/4" pigtail. The
sensitivity of the input can be set (low, mid, or high) to match the output of
the auxiliary source to the other sources.
Non-fading Output: In addition
to the front and rear preamp outputs, the CMD4A is equipped with a
non-fading preamp output with an adjustable volume from -6 to +6. There is no
low-pass filter on the non-fading output.
Auto
Reload: When a 12cm CD is ejected and left
sticking out of the CD slot for 15 seconds, the unit automatically reloads the
CD to protect if from damage. (8cm/3-1/2" CDs are not reloaded automatically)
Optional Wired Remote Control:
The CMD4A is equipped with a rear mounted DIN connector to accommodate an
optional Clarion wired marine remote control. The CMRC1, a wired remote with an
LCD, and the CMRC2 wired remote w/o LCD, are both compatible with the CMD4A
receiver.
External Device Controls
CeNET CD
Changer Controls:
This unit is equipped with a CeNET control connector and
can control up to a total of two CeNET changers.
Two changer control requires a Y-adapter (sold
separately). The following operations are
available for the CD changer:
- Pause
- Disc selection:
+/-
- Track selection:

- Audible search
within a track: +/-
- Scan play: plays
first 10 seconds of each track
- Disc scan play:
plays first 10 seconds of the first track on each disc
- Repeat play:
repeats the current song
- Disc repeat play:
repeats the current disc
- Random play:
plays the tracks on the current disc in random order
- Disc random play:
plays the tracks in random order from all the discs in the changer
iPod Interface: With the
optional CeNET iPod interface (item # 020CCAIPOD), you can connect your Apple iPod to this
receiver. Not only will you be able to control and listen to music from your
iPod, the easy-to-use interface also powers and charges your portable music
player. Using the iPod menu mode you can access your iPod playlists and search
by artist, album, song, genre, or composer. The CMD4A also displays the artist,
album, song title, etc information.
Note: Update your iPod to the latest software before connecting to
the CCAIPOD. This interface works with 3rd generation and many newer iPods
This iPod adapter is not compatible with iPhone 3G, iPod touch (1st/2nd
generation), or iPod nano (3rd/4th generation).
Sirius Satellite Radio Ready:
You can enjoy Sirius Satellite Radio with the optional SIR-CL3 Sirius
tuner (item # 020SIRCL3). A Sirius antenna (included with the 020SIRCL3) and a subscription to Sirius programming are also
required. You can store up to 18 stations in preset memory (6 stations in each
of three preset bands).
Installation
Mounting: The CMD4AA requires a
rectangular cutout in the bulkhead for inserting the chassis. Six screws
(supplied) fasten the faceplate against the mounting surface, and hold the
waterproof gasket against the bulkhead. A clear, self-adhesive template is
supplied to assist you with the cutout and drilling the screw holes. Note:
The receiver does not include a mounting sleeve or ISO-mount screw holes to
accommodate standard I-, J-, or E-sized automotive installation.
