Overview: The BabyPing Video Monitor, made by Y-Cam
Solutions, is a network-connected
video baby monitor that allows you to monitor your child using your iPhone,
iPad, or iPod touch (iOS 5.1 or later required). It is equipped with a wide angle lens, infrared LEDs that
allow you to monitor in the dark, and a microphone. It sets up in minutes
through the free BabyPing app--no computer is required. Because BabyPing is network-compatible, you can
monitor at home or peek in when you're away from home. You can even share your network password with relatives so they can see the baby from a distance.
Video Camera: The BabyPing has a wide-angle lens with a viewing angle
of 60° horizontal and 45° vertical. The 310,000-pixel, 1/4" CMOS image sensor
outputs a video signal with 640 x 480 resolution at 30 frames per second. The
built-in microphone picks up any sound your baby makes. Surrounding the lens are
30 infrared LEDs that provide a viewing distance of up to 10 meters (33 feet) in
total darkness, without the glow of lights that may disturb your baby's sleep.
Smart Filter: The front-mounted microphone picks up every
sound your baby makes. You can engage the BabyPing Smart Filter technology,
which will cut out background noise and static, and you will only be disturbed
if your baby cries.
Constant-Connect: The BabyPing uses Constant-Connect
technology to maintain a solid wireless connection between the monitor and your
iDevice. If network problems occur, BabyPing will immediately alert you that the
connection with your iDevice is lost.
No Interference: Radio signals from traditional baby
monitors are one the main sources of Wi-Fi interference in urban areas. Because
BabyPing operates on your Wi-Fi network, no extra signals are given off or
received. You won't receive interference from nearby two-way radios, or pick up
signals from your neighbor's baby monitor. Conversely, your neighbors won't be
able to hear what's going on in your home.
Security: The BabyPing Video Monitor uses the latest
technology for complete privacy and peace-of-mind. Its double-layer security
system includes leading encryption methods (WEP and WPA/WPA2) and password
protection, so you have total control over who can access your monitor.
Alerts: You can configure the alerts to suit you. The
BabyPing app allows you to set the alert to vibrate or silent mode so you alone
receive the alert without disturbing others. The app remains active in the
background on your iDevice, even if your device is on standby. You can continue
to perform other tasks, such as sending emails, talking on the phone, or
listening to music, while simultaneously monitoring your child. When your baby
cries and triggers an alert, the BabyPing app pauses the music or interrupts
your call so you can respond.
Setup: Setting up the BabyPing system is simple. First, you
plug in the monitor to power and to your router using the supplied network
cable. Next, the BabyPing app should be installed on your iDevice. Running the
app connects the monitor to your network and lets you set up your security
passwords. Once the Wi-Fi setup is confirmed, you can unplug the monitor from
the router (if you want to operate wirelessly) and mount the monitor near the
Mounting: The BabyPing comes with a versatile mounting
bracket that allows you to place the unit on a shelf or mount it to a wall. Once
the monitor is mounted, you can adjust the camera angle and tighten the ball
joint to lock it into position. For optimal picture and sound, the monitor
should be placed about 6 feet from your baby's crib. The supplied cable clips
keep the power cord out of the way.
