Overview: The
Boston Acoustics Duo-i Plus AM/FM Stereo Radio with iPhone/iPod dock delivers
big-audio performance in a stylish compact all-in-one speaker system. The Duo-i
Plus allows you to listen to your favorite music and playlists while you charge
your iPhone/iPod, as well as enjoy AM/FM radio. The versatile Duo-i Plus fits
virtually anywhere - your family room, kitchen, office, or bedroom.
High-Contrast Display: The unit's large easy-to-read,
high-contrast LCD display clearly shows the station, clock, and alarm/sleep
status. The display automatically adjusts to ambient light. You can also set the
overall range of the display brightness from 0 to 20.
BassTrac Audio Processing: The Boston Duo-i
Plus is equipped with left and right full-range speakers that are isolated from
each other in separate bass-reflex chambers for rich, distinct stereo sound.
The two full-range 3-1/2" drivers, specifically designed for this radio,
each have a rear-firing port to enhance the bass output. Another
key, is proprietary BassTrac audio processing for clean bass at all listening
levels. Theses two technologies work together to deliver realistic reproduction
of your favorite music for a smooth, natural response and room-filling
sound, despite its small size.
iPod/iPhone Dock: The Duo-i Plus
features a top-mounted standard iPod/iPhone dock, allowing you to listen to and wake to
music from a compatible iPod/iPhone. The front panel buttons and the supplied remote control
allow you to control basic playback functions, including start and pause tracks,
fast forward and fast reverse within a track, and quickly select tracks within a
folder. Other functions are still controlled on the iPod/iPhone itself. The iPod/iPhone
charges while inserted into the dock. The Duo-i Plus can output video from
iPod/iPhone files through the rear panel composite video jack. Eleven iPod/iPhone docking
adapters are included for fitting different sizes and styles of iPod/iPhone. The
Duo-iPlus is "Made for iPod/iPhone compatible" and supports the following iPod/iPhone
model functions (Dec. 2009).

AM/FM Tuner: The Boston Acoustics
Duo-i Plus radio has a highly sensitive AM/FM digital tuner. It can pull in weak FM
stations while its high selectivity allows it to separate closely-spaced
stations clearly. The tuning knob makes it easy to manually tune to your
favorite stations. The tuning knob
can be turned in either direction for manually tuning up or down the selected
band. When the knob is pressed, the Duo-i Plus will seek up the radio band
for the next receivable station. The Duo-i Plus radio
features 15 station presets for your 5 favorite AM and 10 favorite FM stations.
Once you set the preset stations, you can quickly tune the preset stations in
the selected band (FM1, FM2, or AM) with a press of the preset number button.
Antenna Inputs: This unit is
equipped with a built-in AM antenna and an attached 5' FM wire antenna. You can
unplug either antenna if you wish to connect an optional external antenna to the
AM spring-clip antenna input or the threaded FM coax antenna input.
Dual Auxiliary Inputs: The
Duo-i Plus features a front panel, 3.5mm minijack input and a rear-panel stereo RCA
input for connecting external audio sources to the unit such as your portable
MP3 or CD player.
Subwoofer Preamp Outputs: The unit has a pair
of stereo RCA subwoofer preamp outputs which allows you to connect an external
powered subwoofer (sold separately) to the Duo-i Plus for added bass
response.
Headphone Output: For private
listening, you can plug headphones into the front panel's 3.5mm minijack
headphone output. The main speaker mutes when headphones are plugged in.
Remote Control: In addition to the units easy-to-use front-panel
controls, the Duo-i Plus includes an IR remote for wireless operation of the
all-in-one speaker system. When the remote is not being used, it can be
conveniently stored in the recess on top of the Dui-i Plus, in front of the
iPod/iPhone dock . The remote also has a magnetic backing so it can be attached
to almost any metal surface. The remote operates off of a single CR2025 3V
lithium coin-type battery (included).
Dual Alarms: The radio features two
independent wake-up alarms which can be set to music, tone, or both. When set to
music or tone, the alarm tone or radio station starts playing quietly at first,
then with increasing volume. When the alarm is set to both music and tone, the
tuned radio station plays quietly with a gradually increasing volume. After 5
minutes, the music stops playing and the alarm tone begins to sound at a
gradually increasing volume.
Snooze Feature: If you want to
sleep a while longer after the alarm sounds, you can use the Snooze feature. The
Snooze is activated by simply touching the metal rim around the front of the
radio. The snooze function will silence the alarm for 10 minutes. Each
additional touch adds another 5 minutes to the snooze time, up to a maximum of
60 minutes.
Sleep Timer: You can set the unit's
sleep timer to play the radio for a preset amount of time, then shut itself off.
The sleep timer can be set for up to 90 minutes in 5-minute increments.
Audio Controls: You can
independently adjust the bass and treble between -7 and 7.
Memory Backup: The Duo-i Plus is
equipped with a Super Capacitor to preserve radio presets, clock and alarm
settings in the event of a power interruption for a period of 24-48 hours.
Power Supply: The Boston Acoustics Duo-i Plus is equipped with an
internal power supply (no bulky external adapter needed) and a detachable 8' AC
power cord.
Boston P.O.P.: The Boston Personal
Option Plan (P.O.P.) allows you to match your environment with optional grilles
in multiple colors for the series speakers. In addition to the Onyx
grilles that come with the speakers, you can purchase grilles in Glacier,
Chocolate, Rose Bud, Chili Pepper, Caramel, Pearl Gray, Moss, or Olive. These
optional grilles are available directly from the manufacturer.
