Features
Overview: The NHT iW4 in-wall loudspeaker is designed to
deliver refined, musical, bookshelf speaker-like sound from and attractive,
unobtrusive in-wall speaker. The iW4 in-wall loudspeaker offers extreme detail,
excellent bass, wide dynamics, and high output. The NHT iW4 is useful in almost
any distributed sound application, from home music, home theater, office, or
commercial installations. It is suitable for the highest performance home
theaters, high-end stereo systems, dens, dining rooms, master bedrooms,
where high-quality sound is desired.
3-Way Design: The NHT iW4 uses two
5.25" long-throw polypropylene woofers, a 2" aluminum dome midrange, and a .75"
aluminum dome tweeter. The midrange has its own internal chamber reducing comb
filtering and improving detail. The advantage of a dual-woofer 3-way design is
low distortion and wide dispersion, changing the sweet "spot" to a sweet "room"
for listening
Acoustical Waveguide: The iW4's tweeter & midrange
utilize an acoustical waveguide to deliver, more even high frequency response,
no matter what part of the room you're in.
Crossover Network: The in-wall loudspeaker features a 3-way
crossover network.

Non-Resonance Baffle: The NHT iW4's custom-designed drive
units are mounted in a rigid baffle/bezel assembly designed to minimize the
audible effects of unwanted vibrations and resonance. The baffle is 18mm MDF,
the same material used in high quality box speakers. It is separated from the
bezel by absorptive materials designed to prevent the coloration of critical
midrange frequencies caused by wall vibration.
Spring Post Terminals: The in-wall speaker features
gold-plated, spring-post terminals which will maintain contact with the
speaker wire over the life of the installation.
Note: 16-AWG, 2-conductor in-wall speaker wire is recommended for
runs of 10 feet or less, with heavier gauge cable used for longer runs.
Installation
Flexible Mounting System: The mounting assembly
is designed to be intuitive and flexible, making it ideal for new or existing
construction. The iW4 in-wall speaker's included mounting bracket allows for
retrofit and pre-construction installation. Mounting hardware (screws, wings) is
supplied.
Note: The NHT iW4B pre-construction in-wall bracket (228IWB4)
is included with the NHT IW4 in-wall speaker, or sold separately if intended
to be used to frame out the in-wall speaker location prior to sheetrock
application.
Horizontal/Vertical Mounting: The iW4 in-wall speaker can be mounted in the
wall either horizontally or vertically.
Cut-Out Template: A convenient template for the in-wall speaker's cutout is included to make
installation location and retrofit cutting easier.
Paintable: The iW4 is painted with a neutral white primer and may be
painted to match your wall decor with typical latex paints. When painting, the grille
and speaker frame is painted separately. A convenient paint shield is
included to protect the drive units in the speaker frame.
Note: Do not attempt to paint the black baffle surface (which
houses the drivers). Its black finish prevents the speaker's black drivers
from being visible once the grille is attached.
