XRS Technology: The XRS 9670 is equipped with Xtreme Range
Superheterodyne Technology, with super-fast lock-on detection circuitry, to provide extra
detection range, and the best possible advance warning to even the fastest radar guns.
DigiView Text Display:
The XRS 9670 is equipped with the DigiView Text Display, a
scrolling, 8-character, dot-matrix display with a bright green, easy-to-read
alphanumeric text readout. You can adjust the intensity of the display using the
top mounted Select/Dim button. The detector has a Bright display mode for
daytime driving, and 3 levels of Dim display modes: Dim for dusk driving, Dimmer
for night driving, and Dark where no visual alerts will be displayed.
Instant On/Pop Mode Alert:
The detector is designed to detect Instant-On
speed monitoring signals, which suddenly appear at full strength. Pop Alert
provides protection against K & Ka Pop mode (single pulse) radar gun signals and provides super-fast, instant-on
detection. During a Pop alert, the detector will continue to detect other
signals. Note: Radar guns have a much shorter range when in the Pop mode,
so appropriate action should be taken immediately whenever a Pop alert is given.
Strobe Alert:
The XRS-9670 will give you advanced alert of the presence and/or approach of
emergency vehicles. This is a Cobra exclusive that works with the tens of
thousands of emergency vehicles currently equipped with traffic light
controlling strobe emitters, which activate red lights at traffic
intersections in emergency high speed situations.
Safety Alert:
The Cobra XRS-9670 will give you advanced alert of the presence and/or approach
of emergency vehicles, trains, and road hazards from systems equipped with
Safety Alert Traffic Warning System transmitters.
Visual Alerts: The display includes the type of signals
detected and a vertical bar indication of the signal strength from one bar (weakest) to five
bars (strongest).
Audio Alerts:
The unit will sound alerts and confirm user settings with an audible tone alert. A distinctly different tone is used for
each type of signal detected, and with radar bands, the tones will repeat faster
as you approach the signal source.
LaserEye:
The top-mounted LaserEye provides you with 360° degree detection of laser signals.
When mounting the unit, you much make sure the LaserEye has a clear view to the
front and rear of the vehicle.
VG-2/Spectre I/IV+ Protection:
The XRS-9670 will alert you when VG-2, Spectre I, and the new Spectre IV+ radar
detector detection (RDD) are in use near your vehicle. The unit is undetectable by VG-2 and Spectre
I devices, but can be spotted by Spectre IV+ RDDs. During an alert, the unit continues to detect other signals.
You can choose whether or not you want the unit to show VG-2 and Spectre I and
IV+
alerts and whether or not to sound audible alerts.
Easy-Set
Programming: Easy-Set Programming gives you quick and easy access to
all the settings on the unit. The Menu is divided into two sections:
- User Settings: City Mode, IntelliMute/IntelliMute Pro,
iMute/iMute Pro Activation Set Point, Auto Mute, Alert
Type, Display Timeout, Magnetic Compass, SmartPower,
Restore Factory Settings
- Alert Settings: Pop Detection, X-band, K-band, Ku-band, VG-2,
Spectre I/IV+ Detection, Safety Alert
"System Ready" Prompt: When the unit is first powered on,
the detector goes through a series of self tests. If successfully completed, a
"System Ready" display prompt occurs and the unit is ready to begin detecting.
Auto/Manual Muting: When Auto Mute is On, the unit
automatically reduces the audio volume of all alerts after they have sounded for
four seconds. The signals will remain muted for as long as the signal is
detected. When manually muting, you must press the Mute button while a signal is
being received. This will reduce the volume of the alert in progress. The volume
will return to normal for the next signal.
IntelliShield: The XRS-9670 features IntelliShield to reduce the number of false alerts in
densely populated areas caused by microwave relay towers and automatic door
openers. In addition to a Highway mode, the unit has three levels of City modes:
- City X: sounds a single
beep when the X-band signal is first detected. The alert then sounds when
the signal strength reaches Level 3
- City X Beep Off: prevents
all X band audio alerts until the signal strength reaches Level 3
- City X+K: combination of
City X mode with prevention of K band audio alerts until the signal strength
reads Level 2
IntelliMute: IntelliMute allows you to avoid alerts you
don't need to hear because you are either stopped or moving slowly. By sensing
the RPMs of the
engine, IntelliMute knows that you are driving at a low speed and automatically
mutes all alerts (except for strobe signals from emergency vehicles). You must
first set an activation point for your engine's RPMs, and when the revs go below
that point, IntelliMute begins muting. Once set, the activation point is stored
in memory.
IntelliMute Pro: IntelliMute Pro prevents detection by radar detector
detectors (RDDs), such as VG-2, Spectre I and Spectre IV+, when traveling at
slower speeds. When IntelliMute Pro is on, and engine RPMs are below the
IntelliMute Pro's activation point, the detector's radar detection circuits are
turned off to prevent detection by RDDs. In addition, no alerts will be given at
RPMs below the activation point.
8-Point Electronic Compass: The
XRS-9670 includes a 8-point electronic compass that automatically
provides an accurate direction reading.
SmartPower: The SmartPower
feature, when activated, puts the unit into Standby mode for about 15 minutes
after the car's engine has been turned off. After 30 minutes in Standby mode,
the unit will automatically shut off.
External Speaker Jack: You can
connect an external speaker or earphone if the detector is to be used in an environment with
high ambient noise levels. A 2.5mm sub-mini jack is provided.
Mounting: You
will get optimum performance from the detector if you mount it at a point
approximately in the center of the vehicle, as low as possible on the front
windshield without obstructing the view of the road to the front or rear. The
detector can be mounted in two ways:
- Dashboard Mount:
Using the supplied Velcro pad, you can attach the detector to the
dashboard.
- Windshield
Mount: The supplied windshield mount adheres the detector to the
windshield with two suction cups. The angle can be adjusted for best
visibility.
