    Overview: The Canon EF24-70mm F2.8L USM lens is a high-performance, water-resistant, and ultra-wide angle to standard Canon L-series lens. The lens features an Ultrasonic Motor (USM), with two aspherical elements and one UD element for outstanding image delineation. The lens includes the LP1219 Lens Case and the EW-83F Lens Hood.

    Ultrasonic Motor (USM): The EF 24-70mm lens is equipped with a ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) for silent, high-speed auto focusing.

    Focusing Ring: Regardless of whether you're in manual or auto focus mode, the focusing ring always works. This means you can auto focus on a subject, but manually change the focus by turning the focusing ring.

    Focus Mode Switch: You can switch between Auto Focus and Manual Focus using the two-way switch on the barrel of the lens.

    Zoom Ring: The lens has a rotary type zoom ring. The lens barrel indicates the zoom range between 24mm and 70mm, with marks at 28mm, 35mm, and 50mm.

    Water/Dust Resistance: The lens mount has a rubber ring for enhanced water- and dust-resistance.

    Lens Hood: The lens kit includes the EW-83F lens hood to keep unwanted light out of the lens, and protects the front of the lens. The hood can be reverse-mounted on the lens for storage. When installed, the hood adds approximately 2-1/8 to the overall length and 7/8" to the overall diameter of the lens.

    Optional Filters: The EF 24-70mm lens has an 77mm mounting thread on the front of lens for attaching screw-on type filters.

    I replaced the kit lens on my Canon 7D with this lens, and I am completely in
    love. All of my pictures are so sharp. I take a lot of food photos, but also like to
    take street scenes. This lens does it all. My food photos are sharp with perfect
    DOF and street scenes are just as good. I used to have one prime lens for
    food and a standard zoom for street, now this lens stays on my camera
    always. The f2.8 allows me to take my food shots indoors in existing light, and
    use the soft evening light when I'm outside.
