Overview: The Kodak Zi10 PlayTouch is a pocket-sized digital video camera that is
capable of recording high definition or standard definition video and digital
still images. It has a 3" LCD touchscreen for recording and playing back your
videos and still images.
File Format: The Zi10 PlayTouch records video in MPEG-4 (H.264) format with AAC-LC mono
audio, and JPEG still images. You can choose between the following capture
modes:
- 1080p: 1920 x 1080 (16:9) @ 30 fps; for viewing on an HDTV
- 720p/60: 1280 x
720 (16:9) @ 60 fps; for sports and action videos
- 720p/30: 1280 x 720 (16:9) @ 30 fps; for viewing on a computer,
and sharing on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube
- WVGA: 848 x 480 (16:9) @ 30 fps; for conserving memory card space
- Still: 5.3MP (3072 x 1728) (16:9); for capturing high quality
still images
Internal Memory: The camera features a built-in 128 MB internal
memory. Approximately 20 MB is available for image storage.
SD/SDHC: Optional SD or SDHC (high capacity) memory cards
can be used to store videos and still images. The Zi10 PlayTouch can accept SD/SDHC cards up to 32 GB.
A 32 GB card can record up to 10 hours of HD video (720p @ 30 fps).
Lens: The Zi10 PlayTouch has a fixed focus 3.9mm, f/2.8 lens.
The 35mm equivalent is 44mm for 1080p, and 33mm for 720p, WVGA, and still
capture. The focusing range is 3.3' to infinity in Normal mode, and 6" in Macro
mode. The camera also has a 4x
digital zoom.
Controls: The PlayTouch only has two physical buttons: the
Power On/Off button, and the shutter release. All of the other controls and
indicators are displayed on the LCD touchscreen:
- Controls:
- Settings Menu: Set Video Resolution, Share button parameters,
and other camera settings on the touchscreen menu.
- Shooting Mode: Switch between Video Recording and Still Image
Recording
- Playback: Displays videos and still images in memory
- Effects: Choose image effects such as High Saturation, 70's
Film, Black & White, Sepia, or Normal
- Zoom: Operate the 4x digital zoom by sliding your finger
across the touchscreen.
- Indicators:
- Battery Gauge: Indicates remaining battery power
- Remaining Recording Time/Number of Photos: In video mode, the
remaining recording time in current resolution is displayed. In still
image mode, the remaining number of pictures that can be taken is
displayed.
LCD Glare Shield: The PlayTouch features two LCD Glare Shield
filters to help you see your subject on the display screen easier in reflective
outdoor settings. You can choose High Contrast, B&W (Black & White), or
Normal (no filter). These filters apply only to the display screen, not to the
videos or images.
Electronic Image Stabilization: For sharper videos and still images,
the PlayTouch has built-in Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), which can be
turned on or off in the menu.
Magnifying A Picture: When reviewing your still images, you
can tap the Magnify (+) icon on the screen to magnify the image. With each tap,
the magnification increases to 2x, 4x, 6x, or 8x. A double-tap quickly zooms to
8x. Double-tapping the Magnify (-) icon quickly returns the image to 1x size.
Playback Modes: During video playback, you can fast forward and fast
rewind in 2 different speeds: 2x or 4x. When video is paused, you can advance
the video one frame at a time in forward or reverse direction.
Share: Videos and pictures can be easily shared on various
social networking websites. You can choose from the following sites: Kodak
Gallery, Facebook, Flickr, Orkut, and YouTube. Pictures can also be emailed
directly from the camera while connected to your computer (Internet connection
required).
Flip-out USB: The PlayTouch has a built-in USB Type A plug
that conveniently flips out for plugging into your computer for uploading
pictures and videos.
HDMI and A/V Outputs: The Zi10 PlayTouch allows you to view your videos
on your HDTV via the supplied HDMI cable (mini-HDMI to full-size HDMI). You can
also connect the camera to a non-HDTV using the supplied A/V cable with mono
audio and composite video.
Headphone Out/Microphone In: On the top of the PlayTouch is
a 3.5mm minijack, which can be used to connect an external microphone or a pair
of headphones. When a device is plugged into the jack, you are asked to select
headphones or microphone in the touchscreen menu, depending upon which device is
plugged in.
Optional Remote Control: The Zi10 PlayTouch has an infrared eye near the lens for
use with an optional remote control (item # 738PVCR).
Power Requirements: The Zi10 PlayTouch operates on the
supplied KLIC-7004 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery (3.6V/1000mAh). The battery
can be charged on standard household current using the supplied USB cable and AC
adapter, or connected to your computer via the USB cable. Charging takes 2 hours
on AC current and 4 hours via USB. The battery can also be charged with the
optional Kodak K-7600C battery charger (sold separately).
Built-in Software: When you first connect your camera to
your computer, you can choose to download ArcSoft MediaImpression for Kodak (for
Windows-based PCs only), or the Kodak Camera Setup App (for Windows and
Macintosh), or both. Mac users can also use the Apple iLife suite of products to edit, personalize, make DVDs, share via YouTube and
Apple Online Sharing Services (iWeb and MobileMe), or with iTunes for synching
with the iPhone, iPod, or Apple TV.
