Alpine

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Our take on the Alpine SPS-69C2

by Buck Pomerantz
Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Alpine's Type-S speakers combine outstanding materials and precise construction with an attractive price. Their efficient design provides powerful sound even when system power is low — yet beefy internal parts ensure they can handle it when you crank the volume.

But powerful output doesn't count for much if you don't like what you're hearing. The SPS-69C2 6"x9" speakers bring out all the details in your music with pivoting silk dome tweeters that direct clear highs to your ears without a hint of harshness. The aluminum-coated woofer cones move freely in the air-injected rubber surrounds for strong, accurate bass response.

Highlights:

  • 6"x9" 2-way speakers (pair)
  • aluminum-coated polypropylene woofer cone with air-injected rubber surround
  • 1" pivoting silk dome tweeter
  • square voice coil design and Nomex spider
  • power range: 2-50 watts RMS (250 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 30-30,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 92 dB
  • top-mount depth: 3-1/16"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

    Features

Aluminum-coated Polypropylene Woofer Cones: Each speaker features an aluminum-coated polypropylene woofer. Aluminum adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene, resulting in reduced distortion and improved reliability.

Air-injected Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use air-injected rubber surrounds.

Silk Dome Swivel Tweeter: Each speaker uses a silk dome tweeter for smooth high frequencies. The speaker features a swivel/angle tweeter design for better imaging and livelier sound in your vehicle.

Wave-Guide Design: The Type-S speakers feature a wave-guide grill design over the tweeter for better in-cabin sound expansion and less distortion. The angle of the tweeter wave-guide complements the angle of the surround guard (when used with the supplied grilles), resulting in linear expansion of sound and less distortion of mid and high frequencies.

Mounting Rings: Without any adapter, the speakers are standard 6"x9" top mounts. The supplied adapter rings allow the speakers to be installed in a bottom mount application.

    Great Product for the money!

Written By carmar0125, Killeen, TX on Monday, April 06, 2009

Purchased these back in December and finally got them installed. Couldn't be happier with the crisp and clean sound. I have them powered with an Kicker 350.4 and have fulfilled my expectations by far. Great price. By no means do they take the job of a subwoofer but suffice for the time being till I can get a sub installed in my '08 Nissan Xterra.

Sad to see them be discontinued

Written By Pat, SF Bay Area on Friday, March 06, 2009
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

    These speakers were recommended by
Crutchfield, I now know why. I installed them behind the seat of my 62 Ranchero in a custom designed box. They thump. I powered them with an Alpine F250 Amp and this sytem is better then some of the higher end systems I built whe I was young and had great hearing...

My teenage daughter says the stereo is too loud, I find that hard to believe...

I told her it does have lower volume if she wants it that way, I will know how she really feels when I hear her driving up from a block away...

    Alpine SPS-69C2

Written By Jack, Rock Springs, Wy on Monday, January 19, 2009
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The pair of Alpine SPS-69C2's that I teamed with the Kenwood KDC-MP228 CD/MP3 unit that I got from Crutchfield made an exelent pairing. The sound quality improvement was dramatic across the full range, treble to bass. over the stock speakers in my '98 Neon RT. Installation was simple and the Dodge wire kit worked perfectly. It's hard not to crank up the volume and truely enjoy the high quaility sound while going down the road.

    Big improvement!

Written By Smiley, Livingston, LA. on Thursday, December 11, 2008
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these after a previous upgrade that was a disapointment. They said they wouldn't fit in my doors, but the included grill spacer made them a perfect fit in my '98 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab. I was skeptical at first, but they exceded my expectations. Tight bass and crisp highs, a lot better clarity than the 5 1/4" Kenwoods I previously installed. I kept my other Kenwood 5 1/4" 3 way's in my rear side panels, gives it a surround sound feel.

I know they don't make components like they used to, but Alpine has never let me down in the past. Now I can't wait to install my 10" subs! Thanks Alpine! Thanks Crutchfield! Y'all hit the nail on the head this time!

    Nice Improvement

Written By tony, Cleveland, Ohio on Thursday, December 04, 2008
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the rear deck speakers on my 2007 Accord
Coupe. The Accord stock head unit is pretty good, but the rear speakers
had no high response due to the lack of tweater, and poor bass response
(muddy and distorted) due to the smallest speaker magnet I have ever
seen. The Alpine's have stronger, tigher bass and provide nice highs from
the rear of the car giving a more surround sound feel. Overall they are
louder, clearer, and make the stock system, even with the stock front
speakers, sound much better. Worth every penny!

    Alpine Speakers

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers for my in-laws Honda Accord. I must say they exceeded my high expectations for the brand, especially at the low price. The bass is good at all sound levels and there is no distortion when the volume is all the way up. Best of all, the installation with the wiring harness provided by Crutchfield took 20 minutes for both rear speakers and this was only my second time replacing speakers in a car.

    Great Product, Extremely Easy Installation

Written By William, Southport, NC on Friday, October 31, 2008

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers produce both great highs and solid bass. Now, my grandson in the backseat can be easily drowned out (LOL). Installation could not have been easier, the hardest part was getting my 52 year-old, 6' 1" frame in and out of the trunk. I love the speakers; my next purchase will be the Alpine speakers for my front doors and tweeters.

Don't be scared by the cheap price, nothing about these speakers are cheap. This is a great product. Nice crisp highs, and good strong base; these alpines pack some punch. Installation was a breeze because of the Crutchfield Mastersheet. Easily comparable to speakers priced up to 149.99. Enjoy.

    Good Sound Good Value

Written By Dan, Chicago, IL on Monday, October 13, 2008
Installed in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this pair for use in a 2003 Grand Am and they sound great. My deck is the Dual XHD-6425 which I'm also pleased with. In addition to the
Blue Tooth handsfree add-on, that deck and these speakers, which I consider a bargain.

Initially I was underwhelmed by the performance of these speakers, until I figured out that I needed to activate the radio's "Loudness" function. That's the function that puts emphasis on bass at lower volume levels. Once I turned on Loudness, the excellent sound of these speakers was apparent, including a more than adequate bass response. I would highly recommend these speakers to someone in the market for good speakers at a reasonable price.

These speakers are great. The sound is crisp, the balance is good, and for someone who wants something better than factory, they're great for the price. Since I'm not an expert on speakers or sound systems, I'm extremely happy with these Alpines!

    Ridin wit da Alpines

Written By Matt, Akron, OH on Monday, September 22, 2008

I bought these for 50usd on sale from 100 a few months back. wow was i happy when they got set up. for people that dont have amps and are worried about it not sounding good- think again! i replaced the rear stock delco 6x9s in the back of my 02 alero and wow do these things bump. not only did it increase the volume a lot- it sounds amazing! at med volumes, the bass is deep. they punch pretty hard at high volumes even with the equilizer @ 0 for bass. i blew out my last delco 6x9s so im a little worried about pushing them too hard. my stereo plays at max volume all day- and after 5 months ive had 0 problems. great speakers!

These speakers are excellent!! The fit is perfect, and the sound quality for my wide range of musical interest is outstanding. Thanks Crutchfield for allowing me to break free from the extreme low quality rear speakers in my Accord. A standard cheap factory 6X9 paper coaxial= poor sound. Both factory speakers together weigh as much as the Box the Alpines' came in! I really can't compare these to any other aftermarket 6x9 I just know they are far far better than any Honda factory speaker. These Alpines' really woke up the sound in my car and at a great price! As always with Crutchfield prompt shipping, wire adapters, and instructions make for an easy install 15 minutes total. Thanks
