Overview: Escort MobileTV is a miniature mobile
digital TV receiver that uses the latest technology to receive digital
programming over-the-air, so you can enjoy your favorite shows on the-the-go
from your iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad. The Escort MobileTV receiver simply plugs
into the dock connector of your Apple iOS device. You will need to download the
iDTV mobile USA app onto your connected iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad. Once the
app is downloaded, you can access local broadcast television via the
Dyle mobile TV service (no
subscription or fees required). The Escort MobileTV uses special airwaves
reserved specifically for mobile TV, so you don't need to be in an area with 3G,
4G, or WiFi access. The Escort MobileTV receiver features its own built-in
rechargeable battery.
Apple iOS Device Compatibility: The Escort MobileTV receiver
features an Apple 30-pin iPod dock connector and is compatible with the iPod
touch (4th gen), iPhone 4/4S, and iPad 1/2/3; running iOS 4.3.3 or later. If you
own an iPod touch (5th gen), iPhone 5, iPad 4, or iPad mini; you will also need
to purchase the Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter (472LTN230P,
sold separately).
iDTV Mobile USA App: Escort MobileTV utilizes the
iDTV
mobile USA app from the Apple
App Store. To get started, simply search for this app and install it on your
compatible Apple iOS device. Once you've downloaded the app and installed it,
plug the Escort MobileTV receiver into your device and launch the app. The iDTV
application will start communication with your Escort MobileTV device.
Note: If you launch the app without plugging the Escort MobileTV
receiver into the device, you will get a brief error message letting you
know the device is not connected
Dyle Mobile TV: Dyle mobile TV is a
free service that gives Escort MobileTV
customers the ability to watch live, local broadcast television (ABC, CBS, Fox,
NBC) in select U.S.
metropolitan areas. Dyle mobile TV is only available in those select
metropolitan areas, and not all channels are available in all cities. Dyle
mobile TV service is currently available in the following markets - Atlanta, GA
/ Austin, TX / Birmingham, AL / Boston, MA / Charlotte, NC / Chicago, IL /
Cincinnati, OH / Cleveland, OH / Columbus, OH / Dallas, TX / Dayton, OH /
Denver, CO / Detroit, MI / Greenville, SC / Houston, TX / Kansas City, MO /
Knoxville, TN / Las Vegas, NV | Los Angeles, CA / Miami, FL / Minneapolis, MN /

Mobile TV Airwaves: Dyle mobile TV uses
airwaves specifically reserved for mobile TV. It does not need 3G, 4G, or WiFi
connectivity; and does not need an active wireless data plan to deliver live TV. There are, however, a few times when you'll need a data connection to
run Dyle mobile TV. You'll need a data connection to register for the Dyle
service. Then periodically, the unit will ask you to activate your data
connection in order to automatically renew your device's access to the service
and to update the program guide. To actually watch live television though, you
do not need a data connection.
Automatic Channel Scanning: Escort MobileTV will automatically select the
location you are in through the location services feature on your compatible
iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad. If the location services feature is disabled on your device, you
can still manually select your location before performing an automatic scan.
Once the scanning is done, there will be a Channel List generated which can be
found on Live TV. You can also create auto-scan locations if you travel to other
regional areas where Dyle mobile TV broadcast is available. You can arrange your favorite
channels so that they are close to one another for easier channel switching.
Playback Features: Escort MobileTV and the iDTV Mobile USA app offers
the following playback features.
- Aspect Ratio/Zoom: The
application supports up to four different zoom levels depending on the
original resolution and aspect ratio of the content. The zoom modes
supported are 1x, 1.5x, Standard, and Full Screen.
- Pause/Resume Functions: You can select Pause and Resume for up to ten minutes
during live TV.
- Volume Control: You can adjust the volume of the broadcast from
within the player during live TV.
- Audio Tracks: You can select different audio tracks if multiple
audio tracks are provided by the broadcaster.
- Subtitles: Subtitles are supported for most programs (this
depends on whether the local broadcasters deliver subtitles).
Rechargeable Battery: The Escort MobileTV receiver features
its own built-in
rechargeable battery and does not draw power from your connected Apple iOS device. The battery requires an initial charge for it to work
correctly. To charge the device, simply connect the included USB
charging cable o the Escort MobileTV receiver and a free USB (type-A) port on
your computer/laptop or other charging device. Please allow it
to charge for approximately 3-5 hours on this initial charge. The red charging
light will turn green when fully charged. For maximum viewing time, recharge the
battery before each use, until the charging light turns green. While viewing
Live TV, you can go to the Settings menu to check battery % charge remaining, or
simply tap the screen while viewing to bring up a charge level indicator.
Note: While viewing Live TV on an iPad you can extend viewing time by selecting
which battery (device or iPad) powers the MobileTV device.
