The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM is a
high-performance, L-series telephoto zoom lens that combines a light weight,
compact body with an f/4 maximum aperture. Inner focusing and the ring USM
enable quick and quiet autofocusing.
Compatibility: The EF 70-200m f/4L USM is an EF Canon lens
which means it is compatible with all Canon digital SLRs (those that accept EF
and EF-S lenses, plus those that accept EF only; which would be the Full-frame
EOS 5D Mark II), as well as Canon EOS film SLRs.
Lens Construction: The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM lens
features a lens construction with 16 elements in 13 groups.
Diagonal Angle Of View: This Canon telephoto zoom lens
provides a diagonal angle of view of 34° to 12°.
Zoom: The Canon EF 70-200mm
f/4L USM lens features a 2.9x optical zoom and manual zoom ring.
Ultrasonic Motor (USM): With the Ultrasonic Motor (USM), you
can expect fast and quiet focusing capability.
Inner Focusing: Inner focusing affords a long working
distance of approximately 3.9'. Ring USM for silent and high-speed AF, and
full-time manual focusing is also provided.
Auto/Manual Focus: To shoot in Autofocus mode, set the focus
mode switch on the lens to "AF". To manually focus the camera, set the switch to
"MF", and focus by turning the focusing ring. The focusing ring always works,
regardless of the focus mode.
Focusing Range: You can se the focusing distance range to
3.9' to infinity or 9.8' to infinity. By setting the suitable focusing distance
range, the actual autofocusing time can be shorter.
Infinity Compensation Mark: To compensate for shifting of the infinity
focus point that results from changes in temperature, the lens features an
Infinity Compensation Mark. The infinity position at normal temperature is the
point at which the vertical line of the L mark is aligned with the distance
indicator on the distance scale.
Infrared Index: The infrared index corrects the focus setting when
using monochrome infrared film. Focus on the subject manually, then adjust the
distance setting by moving the focusing ring to the corresponding infrared index
Lens Hood: The include hood (ET-74), can keep unwanted light out of
the lens, and also protect the front of the lens from rain, snow, and dust.
Optional Accessories: A circular
polarizing filter (sold separately) can be attached and used without difficulty
because the front lens element does not rotate during focusing. You can
also attach an optional Tripod mount, Extenders and Extension tubes.
