Your home entertainment cornerstone

No question that the Denon AVR-2312CI delivers lifelike surround sound with Blu-ray discs, DVDs, HDTV programs and video games. Its high-powered amplification, state-of-the-art surround sound processing, and dual subwoofer outputs let you experience the kind of sound once available only in the theater. Now you can be drawn into the engulfing experience — the roaring blasts of action films, as well as the subtle dialogue of your favorite actors — but leave the high ticket prices behind. Best of all, that's only the beginning.

Get ready for takeoff with Apple AirPlay®

AirPlay lets you stream music from your iTunes® library directly to the receiver, either from a networked computer or right from your iPhone®, iPad®, or iPod touch®. Not only do you get a fast and convenient way to listen to your favorites, but anyone in your home can stream from their player to share their latest find. And thanks to a free app, your Apple® or Android™ device can double as a Wi-Fi® system remote. AirPlay requires a wireless home network and a wired connection between the receiver and network.

AVR-2112 with iPod (iPod not included)

The stream with countless sources

AVR-2312CI with iPod (iPod not included)

The AVR-2312 offers a cornucopia of music choices when you connect it to your broadband home network. Thousands of Internet radio stations from all over the world appear at your fingertips. Whether you want your boogie from Britain or slow jams from Jersey, it's all here. Or explore PANDORA® Internet radio, Napster® and Rhapsody® where millions of songs are at your command (registration or subscription may be required). You can even view favorite photos through the '2312 from your home network or visit albums on Flickr using your HDTV.

Auto setup makes every spot a sweet spot

For the most accurate home theater sound possible in your room, Denon equipped this receiver with Audyssey MultEQ® XT, a sophisticated automatic speaker calibration system. Watch a video on how Audyssey MultEQ improves sound in your room.

The '2312 uses the included microphone to analyze sound then automatically adjusts individual level, equalization, and delay settings for each of your speakers. You'll hear precise, uniform sound across a wide listening area instead of just a single "sweet spot," so everyone in the room can enjoy optimized home theater sound.

      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased this DENON AV receiver SEPT 2012. This is my first DENON product. I purchased to access music on my IPOD Touch and to have more options for my HD TV. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. Hook up fairly straightforward, had to make some different connections since I watch football on TV while listening to music. The internet radio is a big plus. The receiver gets 4 stars because the GUI and the instruction manual are not easy to navigate.
      Pros:
      GREAT sound, lots of features.
      Cons:
      GUI not intuitive.

This receiver has all the features I was looking for, produces great sound, and the remote does a good job with my sony blu ray player. I upgraded from an older denon that was fine for DVDs, but I wanted to hear what the new blu ray formats sounded like. I noticed a difference with the same set of 5.1 speakers, more presence and better spatial effects.

      Ecellent unit

Written By Paul K, Round Lake Beach, IL on Saturday, December 29, 2012
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had been looking for a home theater receiver for a few years. My Onkyo integrated amplifier unit right channel was intermittent and need to raise the volume up to get sound again. Plus it did not have any HDMI or component connections. When this Denon unit dropped in price I decided to look closely at it and read customer reviews about it. Unfortunately the unit became sold out and it appeared that I missed out on the deal. About a week past and an "open box" unit was available. I was able to snatch this unit. So far I like the unit. I gave it four stars since the manual is somewhat difficult to follow. It does have a lot of features that will take time to discover and try out. The clarity is much better than my old unit and sufficiently powers my 150 watt Infinity speakers. I was concerned that it would have trouble but that is not the case. I am glad that I got one of these units and would highly recommend it! Also the support from Crutchfield was outstanding once again!
      Pros:
      Excellent sound. Great clarity
      Cons:
Manual difficult to follow plus the enclosed manual CD would not operate on my i-Mac.

      Denon AVR-2312CI

Written By Bud Z., Hebron, Ky on Friday, December 21, 2012

This receiver is awsome! This AVR-2312CI is a replacement for a 12 year old Denon AVR-1802 and it was more important to me to have a great receiver for music than for movies. This receiver makes my B&W P5 front speakers and a Polk 10" subwoofer absolutely sing. The sound is so much brighter and clear, with the bass and treble being about as good as it can get. This was the very last unit available and it was an open box which I never normally buy, but Crutchfield assured me it would carry a full warranty and I couldn't beat the price anywhere. It arrived in two days and seemed to be in perfect condition, not having a scratch on I couldn't wait to get it hooked up and it performs amazingly. Crutchfield was great to work with, so when it comes time for a new tv, center channel speaker, blu-ray player and Panamax surge protector Crutchfield will be sure to get my business. Where else can you go and get a great buy, and have it backed up with a very knowledgeable customer service? The big box stores don't even compare.
      Pros:
Amazing sound for music along with very good 5.1 for movies and tv viewing. Very happy with this purchase and would recommend the Denon AVR-2312CI to anyone. My B&W speakers are a little power hungry and this receiver really delivers, which is one of the reasons I wanted it along with the HDMI inputs and the pure fact that I love Denon. Crutchfield will continue to get my future purchases without question.
      Cons:
The Denon AVR_2312CI runs hotter than did my AVR-1802 but since I,m going to custom build an entertainment center it will have plenty of ventilation. I thought the setup procedure was a little difficult to get use to and that in some of the procedures they did not tell you what the adjustment does. A manual (hard copy) would be greatly appreciated.

      Great A/V receiver

      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replace a 4 year old Denon AVR-888 because I needed HDMI 1.4a for 3D movies and also extra HDMI inputs, since I finally have a TV that accepts HDMI. This receiver fits my needs perfectly. The on-screen menu system is a lot nicer than my old receiver and this was relatively painless to set up. The network and internet capabilities of this receiver are a nice bonus feature. I can stream my FLAC music files from my network attached storage without problems. Sound quality is great. It's nice to be able to distinguish well-recorded CDs from those that are only average. In short, this receiver does everything I thought it would and then some. I'd buy it again without hesitation.
      Pros:
Great sound quality, lots of features.
      Cons:
Internet/network capabilities are still a bit crude, but is saved me from having to use a home theater PC to access my FLAC files.

This Denon receiver is great, I would highly recommend this for your home theater system. That is not what inspired me to write this review however. Crutchfield far exceeded my expectations. I tend to buy big ticket items from local retailers. My 21 year old son encouraged me to use Crutchfield for their great pricing, but also for their superior customer service. We he was right! Order from Crutchfield and you will not be disappointed!

      Love It!

Written By JulieR, Lewes, DE on Sunday, December 09, 2012
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this for my husband's birthday and he's installed it in our main living room, where we have HD TV and surround sound with Bose speakers. The sound quality is amazing. This replaced a 10-year old Onkyo receiver, and the sound clarity is remarkable. We hear background sounds on movies and cable shows that were probably there all the time, but we never heard it before. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking to upgrade their home stereo system and wants great sound without breaking the bank.
      Pros:
Crystal clear sound through our HD TV and cable system
      Cons:
Voice Sync with cable has been a real pain to get set up properly. The voices move just a little before you actually hear the sound.

      Outstanding AVR

Written By BillyK, Orlando, FL on Saturday, December 08, 2012
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was an outstanding bargain and I'm really pleased with the AVR-2312CI. It replaced an old Onkyo TX-SR600 that I was very happy with but the AVR-2312 makes my equally old Polk Audio satellites spring to life in a way the Onkyo never did. In fairness, I think a lot of the perceived improvement is due to the use of the Audessy EQ system. I have non-optimal speaker placement but you wouldn't know it by listening now. I used the Audessy microphone at 6 locations in my den. The results are simply amazing. I'm now running all my HDMI connections (cable box, xbox, ps3 and apple tv) through the receiver instead of the TV and the switching is flawless. Since the AVR has a bi-amp capability I'm saving up for some new front speakers that I can bi-amp. CJ, my advisor, was a great help as well. I am completely satisfied with the product and Crutchfield.

A good quality and sounding receiver that is complicated to set up

Written By Si, Lebanon, NJ on Wednesday, December 05, 2012
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. I have to admit, it was rather complicated to determine how to set it up at first. I have a set up that includes only a Home Theater PC (HTPC) as the input through HDMI. My speakers include a 5.1 home theater speaker system AND a two speaker system that I want to use exclusively for 2-channel stereo sound, but WITH the same subwoofer from the 5.1 system. Actually, that's just temporary. What I am going to change to soon is leaving the 5.1 in my TV room, and installing two new stereo speakers with a separate dedicated sub in the next room over.

Before I bought this, I was trying to figure out how to make this happen, and what complicates things is that only ANALOG sources can be pumped to Zone 2. But since I don't need the first and second room to play simultaneously (just one room or the other), setting this receiver up as a 5.1 system plus 2 Channel is working very well. Once I move everything into the second room, I'll either use the second subwoofer output for the second sub in the second room, or I'll get a cheap RCA switch to turn off the sub in the TV room and turn on the one in the second room.

Overall, I give it 4 starts not because of functionality or sound quality, but because the documentation wasn't nearly good enough for me to set it up for my individual needs without a bunch of trial and error. Also, note that the Audessey system only calibrates for the 5.1 system, and NOT for the additional 2 speakers.
      Pros:
Nice sound quality and volume for both 5.1 sound and 2-channel stereo, lots of features
      Cons:
Complicated to set up. Inadequate documentation.

Really good sound but the remote and other controlls very difficult to navigate. Did not have a selection to sync with my projector remote so I have to use two. Other than that I love it. Airplay is a great feature but you have to be hard wireed to the internet for it to work unless you spring for and extra accessory.

      Great sound, Airplay
      Cons:
      Difficult to navigate controlls.

exellent feature packed mid-tier receiver at a good price

      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

needed to replace a 10 year old Denon receiver; wanted HDMI switching and Network connectivty. Saw this receiver. It had HDMI switching and so much more. Got it when the price dropped. Highy recommended.

Great quick service from Crutchfield. Came double boxed and well packaged with packing peanuts to protect the receiver in transit
      Pros:
Will not repeat here all of the features, but it has exactly what one would need and expect from a mid-tier receiver. In fact, it has features one would find in the low end of a top-tier recever. Great price.
      Cons:
      I can't find a reason to justify buying a second one :)

Great sound and great iOS integration

Written By Ron V., San Jose, CA on Sunday, November 25, 2012
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Keith and Buck recommended this system after listening to my requirements. I was upgrading from a Marantz AV receiver which I loved but it didn't have HDMI and Airplay support.

The sound from the Denon is great after the calibration. The kids enjoy playing the Wii with the "game" sound effects on the Denon and we enjoy the "movie" setting for DVDs as well as the quality of the sound for music which is on a lot.

I love the Airplay capability including the ability to wake the Denon up from standby just by selecting the Denon as the output device on the iOS device.
      Pros:
      * Sound quality * Automated sound calibration

      A powerful, cost-effective, full-featured receiver

Written By DoctorG, McCormick, SC on Friday, November 16, 2012
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Before purchasing the Denon AVR2312CI as the central control device for my home theater, I had considered a number of receivers and read numerous articles and reviews. Having been an avid and technically advanced audiophile for over 40 years, my tastes leaned toward full-featured receivers and pre-amplifiers. However, these were too expensive, so I sought a more cost-effective alternative, and wanted something in the $600 range or less. Cost was a major consideration. One feature that seemed desirable to me was Audyssey, which the Denon reveivers have. My first inclination was to get the Denon 2113, which was part of a newer series and included support for 4K video. Knowing that I would never get to 4K, and because I have a number of older devices with analog outputs, I decided to get the older 2312. This receiver was higher up in its series, featured more analog inputs, Audyssey MultiEQ XT, and slightly more power than the 2113. Also, Denon now requires dealers to sell their new models at full list price, so the $600 2113 was at the bottom rung of its series, where the 2312 was at a higher tier in its series, and I was getting product that retails for about $900. I am very happy with this receiver. It has all the features I need. Of course, this brings along a certain amount of complexity, and it takes some time to learn the Denon menu system to make adjustments. The remote is not lighted, but that is a minor inconvenience. It's a great receiver!
      Pros:
Several types of analog inputs (at least 6 sets), 7 HDMI inputs.7 full-range powered channels, plus 2 sub-woofer outputs. (This lets me drive my normal subwoofer as well as one that powers chair vibrators.) My main speakers are custom designed with two complete 3-way systems in each enclosure, so I bi-amp these and use a 5-channel system. There are still line-level outs to Zone 2 which lets me send a separate analog signal to another system for background music elsewhere.
      Cons:
Non-lighted remote. Speaker banana jacks do not have 3/4-inch spacing so standard dual plugs cannot be used. Product has been discontinued by Denon, so availability is limited.

Denon AVR-2312CI: terrific unit for the price

Written By SteveL, Kern, CA on Tuesday, November 13, 2012
      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price paid, definitely a 5-star unit. Easy enough to set up and use, with decently organized user menus. I was not at all satisfied with the speaker sound (all Polk) based on receiver's microphone test and self-adjustment, but speaker sound is excellent after individual speaker adjustments. Does not run hot. Well packaged for shipment - a good thing since UPS looks to have done their best to knock it around in transit, box even had a bootprint on it.
      Pros:

      Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was pleased with Crutchfield's service, as the item was well packaged and delivered in two days, as promised. I replaced a ten year old Sony receiver that was beginning to fail. The increase in sound quality was very impressive, even wired to my ten year old Bose Acoustimass Ten Series II speakers. The setup wizard was very useful and in fact the system would be confusing to set up without it. I did run into a few issues with the wizard that may be useful to know about. During speaker calibration it said that all the speakers were wired with reverse polarity. The manual states that some speakers may be incorrectly detected as reversed, so I ignored this error. I also found the on-screen instructions for setup of the remote for the other equipment to be confusing, however the manual had slightly different instructions that worked. After completing the automatic setup, I went back to review the speaker settings. Everything looked good, except it had set my center and surround speakers as small, while Bose says they should be set to big, which I did. So I would recommend reviewing settings after using the wizard to make sure everything makes sense. Also during the setup wizard it said it could not connect to the Internet, however later I was able to select Internet radio and connect without further setup. I had no problems setting up my Harmony One universal remote to operate this receiver.
      Pros:
      1. Excellent sound quality with more power than I will ever use. 2. Many connection options. 3. Excellent features. 4. The setup wizard is helpful. 5. Works well with Harmony remote. 6. The current price is attractive for a high-quality receiver with so many features.
      Cons:
      1. The manual supplied with the receiver is on disk. A printed manual is useful if you have any problems or want to dig deep into the settings. You will need a good printer, as it is 150 pages long. 2. You need to be an expert to understand some of the settings, if you go beyond the wizard. More explanation in the manual would be helpful for most of us.
