Overview: The Peachtree Audio iDac is a stand-alone DAC featuring an
integrated pure digital iPod dock. The iDac also has five additional high-resolution
digital inputs (USB, 2 Optical, 2 Coaxial) for your computer, cable box,
satellite receiver, or DVD/CD player. The iDac utilizes a multi-layer DAC board
with over 450 components, a linear power supply, and 11 regulated sub-power
supplies to prevent noise and distortion. The iDac was designed to provide
superior sound quality from your computer, iPod, and other digital audio
components even when dealing with the
extremes of audio streaming, bad power supplies, grounding issues, and

ESS 9016 32-bit
Sabre D/A Converter: The Peachtree Audio iDac features an ESS 9016 32-bit
Sabre DAC for high-performance sound quality of music stored on your iPod or
computer, and even your other digitally connected components. The ESS Sabre32
DAC's patented jitter-reduction circuit re-clocks the digital signal before
passing it through a high-resolution 24bit/192kHz bit-perfect processor.
Re-clocking is needed for computers and most streaming or hard-drive based music
servers because most have high levels of jitter and/or noise. Noise, typically
associated with ground problems and switching power supplies, is eliminated by
transformer-coupling each digital input.
Note: The iDac frequency responses is rated at 5 Hz to 100,000 Hz.
24-bit/96kHz USB Port: The Peachtree Audio iDac features a 24-bit/96kHz
high-resolution USB (type-B) port for connection to your computer and playback
of audio stored on your computer hard disk drive. The iDac's
USB interface utilizes galvanized isolation to reduce ground noise from your
computer's switching power supply. The USB
(type-B) port is found on the rear-panel of iDac.
Note: This unit's USB port supports both Mac and Windows
computers.
24-bit/192kHz Digital Audio Inputs: The Peachtree Audio iDac is equipped with two
optical digital inputs and two coaxial digital inputs. Through the iDac's
digital inputs you can experience 24-bit/192kHz high-resolution sound. The iDac
will improve the digital output from most any standard CD/DVD player or
Satellite/Cable box. All four
digital inputs are located on the unit's rear-panel.
Digital Filter: The Peachtree Audio iDac features a
rear-panel digital filter switch. You can select from two digital filter modes.
- NOS (no filter or oversampling): Preferred by many audiophiles
for its smoother sound.
- NAL (non-aliasing): Provides better measurements and is preferred
by some listeners.
Hi-Bit/Lo-Bit Switch: The
Peachtree Audio iDac is equipped with a rear-panel Hi-Bit/Lo-Bit switch which is
user-selectable. The Lo-Bit setting is the choice of many audiophiles, but you
are encouraged to experiment and choose the setting whose sound you prefer.
Analog Audio Output: The Peachtree Audio iDac is equipped with a
rear-panel stereo analog RCA output (fixed) to connect your preamplifier or Hi-Fi
receiver. The iDac's signal-to-noise ratio at its analog output is rated at 118 db ("A"
weighted).
Note: Do not connect these fixed-level line outputs to a phono
input or directly to the inputs of a power amplifier.
iPod Dock
Pure Digital iPod Dock: The Peachtree Audio iDac features a integrated pure digital
iPod dock which bypasses your iPod's built-in DAC for better sound quality. The iDac's pure digital iPod dock delivers nothing but "1's" and
"0's" from your docked iPod directly to its high resolution digital-to-analog
converter for superior sound quality of your iPod's stored music. The iDac's
integrated iPod dock supports audio playback, video output, remote control, and
charging of select iPod models.
- Audio/Video Playback: The iDac supports music, podcast,
and audiobook playback from your docked iPod. It also features a component
and S-video output for iPod video playback on your connected television.
- Menu Navigation: The iDac lets you navigate your iPod's
menu, using the included IR remote control. The iPod nano (6th generation)
only supports basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Skip (Previous/Next).
- iPod Display: The iDac does not feature a display. You will
continue to view song/artist information on your iPod's LCD screen.
- Charging: A docked iPod will be charged whenever the
iDac is powered on.
Note: The iDac includes four iPod dock adapter inserts -
nano (3rd gen), iPod video, iPod classic (80/120/160GB), and iPod touch.
If your iPod does not already come with an iPod/iPhone adapter insert, it is
highly recommend you purchase one from the Apple Store for a proper fit.
