Features
Overview: The LG BH100 Super
Blu Player is the world's first multi-format DVD player capable of handling all
three digital video formats: Blu-ray Disc, HD-DVD, and standard DVD. It is
capable of outputting a true high-definition, 1080p resolution, video playback.
Unique Optical Pickup: LG's
unique optical pickup technology allows the unit's blue laser to read
information from either Blu-ray Discs or from HD-DVD. Each of the new
high-definition disc technologies store their information at a different depth
inside the disc. LG has created a lens/pickup assembly capable of reading that
information regardless of where it is found on the disc.
Compatible Discs: The player
can playback the following discs:
BD-Java: This unit supports
BD-Java (Blu-ray Disc Java), a user-friendly interactive menu system to make
your viewing experience easy and entertaining through high-definition
animations, advanced subtitles, and scene searches. Four color buttons on the
remote are for use with BD-Java.
Resolution Settings: The Super
Blu player provides several output resolutions for the HDMI and Component Video
output jacks. You can change the resolution using the Setup menu or pressing the
Resolution button when the player is in the stop mode. Only resolutions
supported by the connected TV are available. The output resolutions include:
1080i Upconversion: Standard
DVDs can be upconverted to 1080i resolution when viewed on a 1080i-capable TV.
Digital-to-Analog Converters:
This unit is equipped with a 27MHz/8-bit Video D/A Converter for superior
picture quality. The unit also has a 96 kHz/24-bit Audio D/A converter.
Multi-channel Audio Options:
The BH100 can be connected to a multi-channel receiver in two ways. If the
receiver is equipped with a multi-channel decoder (Dolby Digital, MPEG2, or
DTS), you can make a digital multi-channel connection via an optical or coaxial
digital cable. You can also make an analog multi-channel connection to the
receiver. The unit contains a multi-channel decoder and a 5.1-channel analog
audio output. Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD are supported, but their capability
is limited to 5.1 channels. Dolby TrueHD processing is for two channels only.
Bass Management: If you are
using the unit's built-in 5.1-channel decoder, you can set the size and presence
of the system's speakers. Each speaker can be set to Large, Small, or None.
Parental Control: You can block
the playback of certain rated DVDs based on their content. You can select a
rating of 1 (most restrictive) to 8 (least restrictive). You can also select
"unlock", disabling parental control, allowing the disc to play in full.
Parental control is protected by a numeric password.
Markers: You can start playback
from up to nine memorized points. You can set a marker at a point on the DVD
where you'd like to quickly return. After markers are set on the disc, you can
search for a specific marker by number, and begin playback from that point.
Remote Control: The supplied
remote control can operate the DVD player, as well as TVs made by other
manufacturers. You can control the input source, channel selection, volume,
and power of TV.
