Inputs and Outputs Note
This integrated system includes a slot-loaded, 5-disc DVD/SACD/Video CD/Audio CD
changer/receiver, 4 identical satellites, a matching center channel, and a
separate subwoofer. A multibrand remote is included for system control.
System: The DVD changer section of the integrated receiver/DVD changer
consists of a playing unit and a "stocker", which transports the discs
to the disc slot and playing unit. When discs are not being played, they are
stored in the "stocker".
Digital (DSD) Decoding: This unit is equipped with a DSD decoder to
enable SACD playback. Unlike PCM based technology (CD/MiniDisc/DVD/Audio DVD,
etc.), Super Audio CD is based on DSD encoding which does not require decimation
and interpolation filters. DSD is much simpler and enables a 1-bit signal to be
recorded directly. DSD encodes music at 2,822,400 samples per second
allowing you to hear sound with incredible ease and clarity. DSD combines the
advantages of digital recording with the best characteristics of analog sound.
Output: This unit may be set to output a progressive scan or interlaced
video signal from the component video output. Instead of splitting each video
frame into two sequential fields like interlaced scanning, progressive scanning
displays the entire frame in a single sweep. Where a standard DVD player's 480i
output displays 30 frames (60 fields) per second, a progressive-scan player's
480p output displays 60 full frames per second. Progressive-scan picture quality
is more film-like, with more fine detail and less flicker. Progressive-scan
viewing requires a TV with a progressive scan compatible component video input.
Output: In addition to the composite and S-video outputs, this unit is
equipped with a set of component video outputs. When connected to a television
with a component video input, the component video output of this unit will
provide picture color and detail that is superior to video from composite and
S-video outputs. The component video output may be set for interlaced or
progressive scan operation.
receiver incorporates a wide variety of surround modes to bring you maximum
enjoyment from your audio and video software. The surround modes include:
- Dolby Digital
- Dolby Pro Logic II
(Movie and Music)
- Dolby Pro Logic
- Cinema Studio Ex. A
- Cinema Studio Ex. B
- Cinema Studio Ex. C
- Jazz Club
- Live Concert
- Headphone Theater
2-Channel Stereo: In
addition to the surround modes, you can select the 2-Channel Stereo mode. This
mode outputs the sound from the front left and right speakers and subwoofer
only. Standard stereo sources completely bypass the sound field processing.
Multi-channel surround formats are downmixed to two channels.
MP3 Playback: This unit will
play MP3 files recorded onto CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660
level 1/level 2 and Joliet formats. Each disc can have a maximum of 99 albums
and each album can have a maximum of 250 tracks.
JPEG Playback: This unit will
play JPEG files recorded onto CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660
level 1/level 2 and Joliet formats. All JPEG files on a disc can be played
back in a slide show. Additionally, you can rotate any selected image 90 degrees
clockwise or counterclockwise. Each disc can have a maximum of 99 albums and
each album can have a maximum of 250 images.
Play: This feature allows you to resume playback of a disc from
the point where you last stopped. The stopping point is cleared from memory if
you remove the disc, change the play mode, change the setting on the Setup Menu,
or press the Stop button a second time.
PBC (Playback Control) Playback:
PBC playback allows you to play Video CDs interactively by following the menu on
the TV screen.
Control: This unit allows you to set two kinds of playback
restrictions for discs using Parental Control and Custom Parental Control.
Parental Control allows you to restrict playback according to a predetermined
level. You can select a parental control rating from 0-8, which is protected by
a 4-digit password. Using the same registered password,
Custom Parental Control allows you to set playback restrictions for a specific
disc. You can set the same Custom Parental Control password for up to 25 discs.
Sleep Timer: The sleep timer
switches the unit off after a specified amount of time. The sleep timer can be
set to 10, 20, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, or 180 minutes.
Display Dimmer: You can set the
display to one of two brightness levels.
system has a digital AM/FM Tuner. You can store up to 20 FM and 10 AM station
presets so that you always have easy access to your favorite stations without
having to tune them in manually each time. FM tuning is
done in 0.1MHz steps and AM tuning is done in 9kHz or 10kHz steps.
The subwoofer features an upward-firing 6-3/8" cone woofer in a bass-reflex
enclosure. The subwoofer is powered by 100 watts from the changer/receiver.
The front and rear satellites each use a 2-7/8" full-range driver in a
bass-reflex enclosure. Each satellite has a
set of spring clip terminals for use with the supplied speaker wire. Each
enclosure is covered by a non-removable,
light gray cloth grille.
Channel Speaker: The matching center channel speaker uses a
2-7/8" full-range driver in a bass-reflex enclosure. The
center speaker has a set of spring clip terminals for use with the supplied
speaker wire. The enclosure is covered by a non-removable,
light gray cloth grille.
Satellite and Center Channel
Speaker Mounting: You must use the supplied stands if you want to place the center channel speaker and satellite speakers
on a flat surface. The speakers can also be mounted on the wall using an
optional bracket or an M5 (5mm) screw (not included). Each satellite speaker has an M5 threaded insert on the back and the center channel speaker has two M5 threaded inserts. Without the stands, the speakers have the

- Center Channel Speaker:

satellites, center channel and subwoofer are video-shielded, allowing them to be
placed near your television without causing picture distortion.
Speaker Wiring: Each length
of supplied speaker wire has tinned wire on one end, and a color-coded proprietary plug on the other for easy
hookup. The color-coded plugs are white (Front Left), red (Front Right), blue
(Surround Left), gray (Surround Right), green (Center), and purple (Subwoofer).
Multibrand Remote: The DAV-FC7
comes with a remote that is pre-programmed to operate this system and a number
of functions on different brands of TVs and cable boxes. The buttons glow in the dark, allowing you to easily control the system when the lights are off.
Speaker Outputs: The
changer/receiver uses color-coded 2-pin proprietary jacks for all channels.
