Sanus

Our take on the Sanus PFFP2B

by Ralph Graves

The PFFP2B stand from Sanus gives you an elegant alternative to wall-mounting your flat-panel display. The stand securely holds your TV in place, and lets you tilt it slightly up or down for optimal viewing. It also provides shelving for additional components, such as a DVD player, center channel speaker or satellite TV tuner. Audio/video cables can be concealed in the stand's pillar, so your setup has a clean, uncluttered look. And with its smooth lines, the PFFP2B complements the appearance of your flat-panel display. Simple assembly required.

    Features

Universal TV Mounting Bracket: The PFFP2b TV stand has a universal TV mounting bracket at the top of the pillar that is designed to fit flat-panel plasma and LCD monitors from 30" to 50". Each monitor bracket has multiple bolt holes and can accommodate vertical hole spacing (on the back of the TV) up to 17.375" (444mm). Since the monitor brackets can slide on the wall plate, the horizontal hole spacing on the back of the TV can range from 1.75" to 26.5" (650mm). The pillar design allows you to adjust the height of the bracket before you mount the TV.

Note: The stand  can support a TV with a maximum weight of 130 lbs.

VESA: Given the mounting bracket's range of motion, it will accommodate the following VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) mounting patterns:

    • 50 x 50mm
    • 75 x 75mm
    • 100 x 100mm
    • 200 x 100mm
    • 200 x 200mm
    • 300 x 200mm
    • 300 x 300mm
    • 400 x 200mm
    • 400 x 300mm
    • 400 x 400mm
    • 600 x 400mm

Virtual Axis Technology: Once the TV is secured to the bracket, you can adjust the TV's angle. With the Virtual Axis fingertip tilt system, the TV can tilt 12° up or down, and you can lock the position by simply tightening a knob on each monitor bracket.

Mounting Hardware: The PFFP2b comes with the following size screws to mount your TV to the bracket: M4, M5, M6, and M8.

Adjustable Shelves: The PFFP2b features two adjustable, tempered glass shelves. With the TV bracket mounted in the highest position, you can move the adjustable shelves up and down within a range of approximately 2.5'. This range will vary depending on the size of the TV. The large adjustable shelf is 29.938" wide and 16.938" deep. The small adjustable shelf has the following dimensions: W=24.063", D=16.75".

Note: Each shelf can support a component with a maximum weight of 50 lbs.

Bottom Shelf: The base of the stand, which serves as the bottom shelf, is 43.25" wide and has a maximum depth of D=23.125". In front of the pillar, the shelf has a depth of 18.188".

Wire Management: The pillar has an internal channel that keeps the wires and cords out of sight.

    Sanus PFFP2B

Written By Steve B, Miami Beach Fl on Monday, December 27, 2010
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really liked the way this stand looks to try to make a reasonably priced TV like my new Panasonic Plasma 50" 3D have the slick European look. It is really huge, larger and heavier than I expected but I feel like it could hold up a tank! I installed it myself (I am a surgeon) and found it straightforward, but not so easy a caveman could do it. Took me about 2 hours, a gillion little parts, and unfortunately, even though 95% of the stand is built like a rock, the covers for the top of the column and for the screw covers where you attach the glass shelves are made of cheap plastic and the top cover as well as one of the shelf/screw covers broke and I glued them back together.

    Pricey but nice

Written By chuck, Milton, FL on Tuesday, August 11, 2009

It's a really nice and beautiful stand. I had to buy longer screws to mount my KDL-40XBR7 to the mount. I had the same problem with my first Sanus wall mount. Sanus could probably save a lot of money on bolts if they put the right lengths in the box. This stand is quite sturdy and stable. It fits nicely in my master bedroom and adds some nice decor to the room.

Very good stand and easy to assemble. Good alternative to hanging your flat screen from a wall.

    Happy with Stand

Written By TeresaF, L.A., California on Sunday, November 18, 2007
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Okay -- we felt a little daunted with the # of 'little' parts (realizing later that many of these parts were offered to accomodate each individual's tv) so we didn't find it AS easy as others who have rated this stand here. My husband didn't really appreciate my sharing the 'so easy a caveman could do it' comment someone had written - lol.

I agree though that the back should be wider (even one inch would help) to run cables through. I got frustrated trying to run multiple items (DVD, DVR, & a gaming system) and we had to get a little creative (hello blue tape).

Overall though we are happy with the quality and appearance of the stand - it is very solid.

    Really NIce

Written By EL MACHINO, San Francisco, CA on Wednesday, June 13, 2007

I bought this unit because I wasn't confident that the old walls of my apartment would hold my new LCD. I like this unit and everyone that has seen it wants one! The base is bigger than waht I had originally thought but it looks sweet! I think Sanus should include and third shelf...
Assembly was easy and it didnt take long to put it together; the instructions are clear and easy to understand.

The tower where all the wiring is suposed to hide is not as good as it could be (too small) but it does the job. Solid construction, but the finishing on the tower and the plastic parts could be better...
By the way, the box it was delivered in was huge but everything was intact!

    Overall, good unit!

    Great stand for sure.

I bought this stand to mount a 50" Plasma and it is really a great stand. The assembly was very easy, has great instructions and layout for those that are challenged in that area. (So easy, even a Caveman could do it).

    Mostly good stand

Written By Ted, Durham, NC on Saturday, January 13, 2007
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This stand was easy to assemble and hang components on. I think it is worth the price given the styling . The result is beautiful.

The only thing to complain about is that the raceway for cable routing was rather small for the number of cables I was running. I have a DVD player, DVR, and Receiver on the stand along with a Samsung 46" TV, and I could run no more cables if I needed to.

Perhaps switching to HDMI would help, but my DVR's HDMI output does not deliver as good picture quality as its component output which means 5 cables instead of 1 to route.

    Positive Review: Sanus PFFP2B

I am very happy with this stand and endorse it. It looks great. I've hung my 50" plasma on it, placed my components on the glass shelves, and the whole setup is very sleek. The stand is also very stable and the tilting mount has great functionality.

    Sanus PFFP2B

Written By Rodney, Upper Marlboro, MD on Tuesday, April 18, 2006

I bought this stand April 1, 2006 and I love it. I think it's the best compromise between having a big clunky stand and trying to mount a plasma tv on the wall. This stand looks very cool. It has tempered glass and a wire concealing post in the middle. It is also a lot bigger than it looks in the pictures. I had no problem mounting my panasonic 42 inch display to it. This thing is very well built! The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because of the $500 price tag. Other than that, it's an excellent purchase.

Great looking product. Looks excellent with my black and silver Rotel theater system. Adjustability is great although the mounting brackets for my new Phillips 42" plasma monitor did not expand wide enough to fit the mounting holes. I had to have an adapter made to make it work - would have been nice to know this before I bought it. Overall I really like the look and versitility of the unit now that it is installed.
