Our take on the Kicker ZXRC Remote Bass Control

Kicker's ZXRC Remote Bass Control lets you adjust the level of your Kicker amplifier from the front seat, so you can keep the thumping under control, or turn it up to 11 when you want to show off. When you activate the amp's low-pass filter for a subwoofer, the ZXRC takes control over the the amp's volume, so you can make fingertip adjustments to your sub's level.

The ZXRC remote works with any Kicker IX, ZX, DX, or ZXM amplifier with a remote control jack. (Some of these already come with a ZXRC remote, so you can use this remote as a replacement for a lost or broken one.) The ZXRC will only control the rear channels of 4-channel amps.

Features

Overview: The ZXRC Remote Bass Control allows you to control the bass output level of the amplifier from the front of the vehicle. The crossover on your IX, ZX, DX, or ZXM amplifier must be set to low pass for the ZXRC to function. The ZXRC controls the AMP2 channel of 4-channel amplifiers. The wired remote comes with a bracket to mount it under the dash. The supplied 16' cable, with RJ-25 phone plugs at each end, connects the remote to the amplifier.

Note: The Remote Bass Control measures approximately 2-1/4" wide x 1-1/4" high x 1.75" deep (2-3/8" deep including the knob and wiring).

Must Have for Quick Output Adjustments

You might be thinking, "eh - it's just a volume nob - right?". Well - you're right. But this is a must have because it gives you the control that you want right at your fingertips. I was able to mount this right under my armrest in a nook in the console where my hand nauturally falls while I am driving. Because of this, I can tune the bass on the fly for every song I am listening to without taking my eyes off of the road. If you're like me and listen to a lot of different types of music (everything from Rap, Country, and Jazz) than this is a must have. Yes my reciever has an adjustable sub out, but it takes a click, two turns, another click, another turn.... you get the idea - too slow and too much effort. As a result, I stopped adjusting the bass and my SQ suffered with certain songs. Now that I can adjust the output so easily, I am able to dial in the right amount of bass for every song which actually makes my music sound better because it keeps everything balanced!

This is well worth the cost - get it!!!

Great addition to amp

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The remote control unit is a great addition to this amp. I used it for years on my previous kicker amp and it allowed me to control the amount of bass i wanted for different occasions.

Pros:

Small and compact. Easily mounted under your dash or in a remote location that might be a tight fit.

Cons:

This unit used to come with the previous version of the Kicker amps all the way down to the 300 watt unit. So in my opinion the only con is that you have to pay extra for it when it used to come with the amps.
