Overview: The
VMPL3
universal wall-mount bracket is designed to fit flat-panel
plasma and LCD monitors from 27" to 90" and up to 280 pounds. The
VMPL3 comes with two sets of monitor brackets: an adjustable set that allows you
to tilt the TV for the best viewing angle, and a set of low-profile, non-tilting
brackets. An adjustable wall plate and monitor bracket extensions allow the
VMPL3 to fit a wide range of TVs. An optional center plate (051VMXA1b, sold
separately) is available to extend the width of the bracket for the largest flat
panel TVs. The wall plate features cutouts for routing cables through an opening
in the wall or a J-box for concealed wire management.
Construction: The bracket is
constructed of heavy-gauge steel with a durable powder coated finish.
Mounting: The wall plate must be
mounted to wall studs or anchored to a brick, block, or concrete wall using the supplied
lag bolts. The slots in the wall
plate can accommodate a variety of stud spacing, allowing you to easily mount
the TV to wall studs that are 16" or 24" on center. Sanus recommends
attaching the wall plate to three studs if the TV is over 125 pounds. Once the
wall plate is anchored to the wall studs and the monitor brackets (with the TV
attached) are hooked onto the wall plate, the TV can slide horizontally,
allowing you to center the TV on the wall. If the tilting monitor brackets are
used, the TV is held in place approximately 2-5/8" from the wall. The low
profile brackets place the TV only 1-9/16" from the wall.
Note: Each monitor bracket has
multiple bolt holes and extensions, they can accommodate a TV with a vertical hole
spacing up to 15.75" (400mm), and up to 26" (660mm) if the bracket
extensions are used. Since the
monitor brackets can slide on the wall plate and the wall plate is
adjustable, the horizontal hole spacing on the
back of the TV can range from 2" (50mm) to 40" (1016mm). Item 051VMXA1B can be added to this bracket to increase the horizontal hole spacing range
from 27" (685mm) to 42.25" (1073mm).
Steel Stud Mounting: If you wish to mount this Sanus wall mount in a
building with steel stud walls, you will need the Sanus SSMK1 Steel Stud
Mounting Kit (051SSMK1). Steel stud walls are typically found in commercial applications,
such as office buildings, warehouses, and condominiums.
VESA: Given the mounting
bracket's range of motion, it will accommodate the following mounting hole
patterns in accordance with industry standards set by the Video Electronics
Standards Association:
- 50 x 50
- 75 x 75
- 100 x 100
- 200 x 100
- 200 x 200
- 300 x 200
- 300 x 300
- 400 x 200
- 400 x 300
- 400 x 400
- 600 x 400
- 800 x 400
Mounting Hardware: The VMPL3
comes with M4, M5, M6, and M8 bolts to mount the monitor brackets to your TV. If
your TV requires hardware larger than M8 (8mm), you should be able to obtain it
from your local hardware store.
Virtual Axis Technology: Once the TV
is secured to the wall, you can adjust the TV's vertical angle when using the
tilting monitor brackets. With
the Virtual Axis fingertip tilt system, the TV can tilt up to 6°
up or 12° down, and you can lock
the position by simply tightening a knob on each monitor bracket. If you're
using the low profile monitor brackets, you will not be able to adjust the angle
of the TV.
