The Boston Acoustics SC65 6-1/2" speaker features a tough copolymer woofer that really delivers the beat. A butyl rubber surround keeps the cone under tight control for clear sound and reliable operation even at extreme playback levels. The 3/4" Kortec® dome tweeter sits in a contoured baffle that widens the dispersion of your high notes, providing clean, well-balanced instrumental detail throughout your car.

A built-in crossover makes sure the highs and lows combine smoothly, and protects the tweeter from sudden overloads. The compact neodymium magnet helps reduce the size of the SC Series speaker, so it can fit in more vehicles without any loss of fidelity.

Note: The oversized terminals on these speakers won't connect to a Crutchfield wiring harness. We recommend that you buy a 10-pack of female quick slides that you can splice onto our harness.

Features

Tweeter: Each speaker uses a type-S2, 3/4" Kortec dome tweeter. Kortec is a silky fabric saturated on the underside with a proprietary stiffening agent. Because the inside surface of the dome is ultra stiff, the tweeter tracks the signal with ease and produces an excellent transient attack. Simultaneously, the soft, self-dampening top layer eliminates unwanted resonance, so the sound is smooth and articulate. The Contoured Asymmetrical Tweeter Baffle (CATB) delivers smooth extension and strong on-axis and off-axis response.

Woofer: The copolymer woofer cone has a durable butyl rubber surround and stands up to the harsh automotive environment.

Crossover: All SC series speakers feature specifically tuned crossovers to deliver the best blend between the tweeter and woofer. Each also features tweeter protection for optimal performance and reliability.

Voice Coil: The oversized 1-1/2" voice coil increases overall power handling and reliability.

Installation: The compact size of the magnet allows SC series speakers to fit where other high quality speakers don't. Neodymium magnets offer extraordinary power-to-weight ratio, approximately ten times the magnetic strength of a conventional iron-ferrite magnet of equal size.

VariMount: The Boston SC65s come with several mounting adapters, making it possible to drop the speakers into the most common factory locations. Both 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" adapters and 7⁄16" spacers are included.

Speaker Terminals: These speakers have 0.25" positive (+) terminals and 0.187" negative (-) terminals, which are too large for the vehicle-specific speaker harnesses supplied by Crutchfield for many vehicle applications. It is recommended that a pack of assorted female quick slides (item # 263FQS10PK) be purchased and spliced to the harnesses to adapt them to the speaker terminals.

i own a set of these Boston Acoustics and they in my Ranger in all 4 doors and they sound really amazing over my old worn out factory door speakers and i also have a aftermarket Alpine CDE -125BT cd player that sounds a whole lot better both of them sound a whole lot better than my old worn out factory door speakers and my old worn out factory cd player

I used these to replace my stock speakers in my 2012 Honda Fit. The Stock Speakers were suitable for talk radio and nothing more. I listen mostly to acoustic jazz and these BA's sound great. I also installed some Dynamat in key areas. very happy.

Pros:

excellent sound especially for the price

Cons:

some folks will want a subwoofer matched up with these speakers, Installation was a bit more work than I expected (drilling)

I bought these speakers to put into the rear deck of a 1994 Honda Accord. They fit with some alteration that may be too much for some people...you'll have to alter the factory speaker "holding panels" in the rear deck by cutting and drilling new holes and using one of the mounting pieces that come with these speakers. I didn't need to use the provide grilles since the Accord already has rear deck grilles. They sound great!

Pros:

Great sound.

Cons:

Alterations are necessary for an Accord (cutting and drilling) and the Crutchfiled provided speaker wire adapters couldn't be used due to the terminals being too big on the speakers. That was a quick fix, though due to connections provided in the Boston Acoustics SC65 box.

Cons:

Bass is pretty much non existant, and make sure to properly power these, it makes a huge difference using an amp over your deck.

Pros:

More texture to the highs, mids and lows and perfect for receivers with a low wattage output. Dont expect mind blowing bass on these

Honestly, I didn't want to agree with the other negative reviewer, but he is pretty much dead on.

The Boston Acoustics speakers have overall crisp sound with bright highs and OK lows, but the highs can sound tin-y at times, and lows do not balance out the highs. For the price, the sounds should be much more evened out and balanced. I paired these speakers with a powered sub (Kenwood KSC SW10 Car subwoofer) which delivers well rounded lows to compliment my door speakers... but that didn't help the speakers much. I am not impressed.

Just installed these in a new 2011 GMC Sierra front door location. I have to be honset I am not that impressed. They have almost no low end. The last thing I wanted to do was to install a sub. Don't get me wrong I am in no way a low end freak and I realize the factory speakers are designed with the low end exagerrated but I have the low end decked and still very little low end output ( I have never put my bass up that high in any vehicle with factory or aftermarket systems but have to with these) with the factory speakers I had to bring the bass way down which is typical of factory installed systems with boomy low end, these are just the opposite but something is truly still missing. I checked the Phase of the speakers thinking that was it but that is fine. I am fussy being a recording studio owner but still I am bit upset with the output at low frequencies and also the top end is a bit much but that might be possibly due to the way our ears hear sound, when the lows and low mids are subdued the highs seem to be dominate. These would probably be better with a sub and an amp but that's not an option with this vehicle plus I would have thought these would be an upgrade by themselves. I might reinstall the factory speakers and put these in the rear or sell these and try somehting else.

Excellent Speakers

Used these for rear and doors of 1999 Honda Accord EX. Retained Honda dash tweeters. Boston Acoustic (BA) SC65 two-way speakers were easy to install, have much clearer sound than OEM one-way speakers, and the construction materials are substantially better than OEM speakers. Rears were easy to install with Crutchfield adapter plate and instructions. Doors were easy to install with Crutchfield instructions. But, I performed two unanticipated installation tasks that were not listed on Crutchfield instructions. First, Crutchfield supplied adapter wires fit the Honda wiring perfectly, but did not fit the Boston Acoustic speakers male bayonet connections - these were wider than Crutchfield adapter wires. Had to splice and solder Boston Acoustic wire female connections on to Crutchfield adapters. Second, for doors, Boston Acoustic speakers were bigger than OEM and the BA SC65 screw holes did not align with Honda plastic speaker holder holes. Had to drill new holes in Honda holder, with care to retain sufficient edge distance.

i purchased the sc 65 speakers my 07 ram 1500 was stock. i installed these in the rear doors, then i installed the boston acoustics sc95 in the front doors and they sounded so much clearer and will not distort at all. then one week after installing them in i ordered a pioneer avh p4200 dvd and the sound is just unreal. and believe me when i say these speakers are good because i have a friend with the same dodge ram but it had the infinity system in it and thats a 6 speaker and my 4 speakers sounds better than his.

Although I have not had them long, I am impressed with the awesome sound coming from these babies. These were recommended instead of the Boston S60 components for my 2002 Chevy Silverado ext. cab.

I was really skeptical when i saw there were no reviews for these speakers but I got them anyway and I'm glad I did. They are amazing. Sounds so nice, clean and crisp.

Only problem I'd like to point out is that if you have a 2001 Chevy Blazer and your trying to put a new sound system in it, be prepared to do custom everything. Its a pain, but well worth it. ^_^
