Features
Woofer Cones: The JBL Grand
Touring Series woofer features a polypropylene woofer cone with a heavy-duty
molded dustcap.
Rubber Surrounds: The
woofer features a rubber surround to provide exceptional cone-edge
suspension and long-throw linearity with control and stability at the excursion
limits.
Spider: The woofer's
progressive spider provides better control at the excursion limits and reduces
woofer distortion.
Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4-ohm
voice coils that offer flexibility in wiring. When the voice coils are wired in
parallel with each other, the woofer presents a 2-ohm mono load. When the voice
coils are wired in series with each other, the woofer presents an 8-ohm mono
load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel
and each channel will see a 4-ohm load.
Tinsel Wire Protector: The
woofer uses a unique tinsel wire protector that also strengthen the joint
between the cone, the voice coil and the spider. That joint is the most critical
of all and must be able to withstand more stress than any other point in the
moving assembly.
Terminals: The woofer features
dual binding post terminals which can accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade
lugs, and single banana plugs. Because of the spacing between the + and -
terminals, they cannot accept dual banana plugs.
Die-Cast Aluminum Basket:
The JBL GTO woofer features a die-cast aluminum basket for added rigidity.
Enclosure Compatibility
Recommended Sealed Box Volume: JBL
recommends a 0.75 cu/ft sealed enclosure.
Recommended Ported Box Volume:
JBL recommends a 1.25 cu/ft ported enclosure. One 3" diameter x 8-11/16"

Recommended Bandpass Box Volume: JBL recommends a bandpass enclosure
with a 0.75 cu/ft sealed rear chamber and a 1.00 cu/ft front ported chamber. One
4" diameter x 5-7/8" long port, tuned at 55Hz, should be used with this
enclosure.
