Features
Overview: Car Link by Audiovox is a smartphone interface that
allows you to start your vehicle, lock or unlock your doors, or pop the trunk from
virtually anywhere. It is designed to work with Code Alarm, Prestige, or Pursuit
security or remote start systems equipped with a Telematic/Tracking dataport. It
can also be used as a stand-alone keyless entry system. Car Link is compatible
with iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android smartphones.
Interface: The Car Link app's interface provides 6 icons on
your smartphone's screen: Lock, Unlock, Find, Start, Aux 1, and Aux 2. You can
activate any of the commands by simply touching the icon on your smartphone's
screen.
Two-way Communication: Car Link provides two-way communication
between your vehicle and your smartphone. Using your Car Link app, you can send
commands to your vehicle, and receive confirmation that the command was successfully
executed. In addition, you will be alerted whenever any zones have been violated
on your vehicle. Visual alerts will be sent to your phone. Sounds and vibrations
can also be enabled, if desired.
Auxiliary Outputs: The unit features two auxiliary outputs that
can control convenience features such as trunk release, opening a power sliding door,
or control a window module. The output can be set to provide a 1, 3, 5, or 10-second
500mA current output, capable of driving relays.
Car Finder: Car Link's car finder feature will help you find
your vehicle in a large garage or parking lot by honking the horn and/or flashing
the lights.
Range: The range of the Car Link system is virtually unlimited.
As long as you are in an area where you can receive smartphone service, you can use
Car Link. The length of time your vehicle takes to respond to the command given can
be affected by cellular coverage and network congestion.
Multiple Vehicles: You can control multiple vehicles from one
Car Link app as long as a Car Link module is installed in each vehicle. If you have
more than one vehicle in your Car Link account, you will need to select which vehicle
you want to control before sending commands.
Multiple Phones: You can control a vehicle from more than one
smartphone. The vehicle's user name and password can be used from any phone with
the Car Link app. In addition, you can control your vehicle by logging into your
account on the Car Link homepage
(voxcarlink.com)
from any web browser.
Smartphone Requirements: The operating systems required for
compatible phones is as follows (as of March 2011):
- iPhone: 4.0 and higher
- Android: 2.1 and newer
- BlackBerry: 5.0 and higher
Service Plan: A service plan must be set up in order to use
Car Link. The included service plan gives you unlimited day-to-day use of the Car
Link system in the United States for the first year. Additional charges and/or
service limitations may apply after the first year; the current annual cost (as
of March 2011) of the service plan beyond the first year is $29.95. Since Car Link
does not monitor the usage of the Car Link system, excessive use could result in
the need for a higher level data plan from your phone carrier.
