Our take on the Channel Master 3010

by Steve Kindig

Channel Master's model 3010 "stealth" antenna can receive digital and analog over-the-air TV signals in the UHF and VHF bands. Its shallow depth means the 3010 can be installed under an eave for an inconspicuous look. It's also suitable for roof, wall and attic installations. The 3010's relatively compact size makes it a practical addition to a DBS satellite system.

The 3010 is classified as a Medium-sized Directional antenna. For tips on selecting an antenna, and links to websites that help you locate HDTV signals in your area, check out our article on choosing and installing an antenna for HDTV.

Highlights:

  • receives digital and analog UHF/VHF TV signals (channels 2-51), plus FM radio
  • range is 45 miles for VHF and FM, 30 miles for UHF
  • 52"W x 15"D x 2-1/4"H
  • 30" turning radius (if used with an antenna rotor)
  • accommodates 1-1/4"-1-2/3" mast (mast not included)
  • warranty: 90 days
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee
  • RG-6 cable is recommended

    Features

Overview: The Channel Master 3010 STEALTHtenna receives FM, UHF, and VHF frequencies, both digital and analog. It can be mounted on a roof, on a wall, or in an attic.

Saddle Bracket: The saddle bracket will accommodate a mast between 1-1/4 and 1-2/3 inches.

Turning Radius: If using a rotor on the antenna mast, make sure a 30" turning radius around the antenna is clear of obstruction.

Grounding: The antenna and mast should be properly grounded. Grounding provides lightning protection for the antenna and your TV set. Note: No grounding hardware is provided with the antenna.

Connections: A female F-type connector is on the underside of the antenna body. The included waterproof rubber weather boot should be installed over the cable to guard against corrosion. Note: Coax cable is not provided, RG-6 is recommended.

    Specifications:

    • Operating Range: all distances are approximate, actual performance depends on too many variables to predict accurately
      • UHF Channels (14-69): 30 miles
      • VHF Channels (2-13): 45 miles
      • FM Radio: 45 miles

    Good Product

Written By Anonymous, Mobile, AL on Friday, May 31, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this in my attic and have had no problems. I have this running through a channel master 3414 signal amplifier. I simply removed all the cables that were running through the attic for the previous owner's direct tv system and have them all hooked up to the antenna. It has worked with no problems. I pick up many more channels than my previous indoor RCA antenna was pulling.
    Pros:
    Free HDTV. No cable/satellite bill.
    Cons:
As in other reviews, certainly be careful when installing the cable to the housing beneath the body of the antenna. I can see, as in other reviews, how if you were a bit rough you might damage the unit or the circuit board.

    Channel Master 3010

Written By DI, Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, May 28, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very stealthy antenna. It is hardly seen from a distance. The construction is sturdy and should be able to take strong winds.
    Pros:
    Easy installation.
    Cons:
The antenna does not pull in many stations even though I live less than 15 miles from the transmitting towers with the antenna mounted about 30 feet up. I added the Model 3038 amplifier and now I have solid signals from 25 channels and I'm pleased with the results.

Excellent reception with the antenna inside the house

Written By Jim, New Orleans, LA on Sunday, May 26, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I use the Channel Master 3010 as an inside antenna. It sits on top of my refrigerator in a round, plastic pan. This allows me to rotate it as needed. Also, the cable attaches to the bottom of the antenna; since the antenna sits on top of a pan, the cable is not crimped, because the pan allows the cable to go down and then out of the pan. The fact that it is on top of the refrigerator means that I can see the TV screen as I am rotating it, allowing me to get the best antenna position for each channel. By rotating it as needed, I get crystal clear reception on lots of channels. As far as I know, I am getting all of the available channels in my city.

One day I will take the time to chart out which direction to point the antenna for each channel, so as to get the best reception. But for now, my reception is excellent with the Channel Master 3010 antenna.
    Pros:
Small, fits on top of my refrigerator, allowing me to use it inside the house, close to the TV, so that I can see the TV screen as I adjust the antenna and thereby get the perfect antenna position for each channel.
    Cons:
    None

    Amazing improvement in reception

Written By Robert, Frederick, MD on Friday, April 05, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I live in a valley with only 1 crappy local radio station. my wife likes the morning show from DC, 50 miles away (over the mtn from our house. I installed this antenna in about 15 minutes including assembly and we now get 30+ radio stations. the only issue I had was the clamp was too small for my DirecTV arm. I attached the antenna instead to ventpipe at the peak of my roofline.
    Pros:
Crutchfield is awesome as always, fast install, great FM reception
    Cons:
    none

    Channel Master 3010 Super Pleased

Written By JimS, Salem VA on Sunday, March 10, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was using a set of amplified indoor rabbit ears and getting approximately 12 channels, 4 of which where breaking up on a regular basis. Installed the Channel Master 3010 not very high on the roofline and WOW what a difference! Now getting 18 Channels all super clear and the HD compared to my previous cable provider is fantastic. The whole order process from Crutchfield was a breeze and I chose this antenna after reading the reviews on Crutchfield's website. Pricing was great and shipping was fast. Will definitely start using Crutchfield for my electronic purchases.
    Pros:
Super easy to install and a great product, small and unobtrusive unlike most rooftop antennas.
    Cons:
    None so far

Up here in rural America FM radio is very sparce.. especially if you want to listen to talk radio ( as I do ) in my wood working shop. I use an old car radio and was ony able to get about three stations. After hooking up the Chanel Master 3010 I now receive so many that i cant begin to count them all .. The antenna is mounted on a bracket I constructed hung on the side of the barn aprox 12' off the ground.. ( i didn't even bother aiming it ).. Boy am I happy with it .. Its my answer to poor reception.. thanks again
    Pros:
Very easy assembly .. promp shipping

    Works perfectly

Written By Daniel, Akron, Ohio on Monday, October 15, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Product does just as described. It was recommended for my location based off distance and strength of signals in my area. I just put it on the roof, pointed it at Cleveland, and it worked great.
    Pros:
Easy assembly, cheaper than paying for basic cable for one month.
    Cons:
Didn't realize it does not come with hard ware to mount to roof/side of house. Only comes with a bracket to attach to a pole of some kind. I used an existing satellite dish mounting system left by a previous tenant that worked great.

Thrilled, we bought two antennas from a local store and only picked up 2 channels. One even cost $5 more than the Channel Mstr. With the Channel Master 3010 we have 8 clear channels, and we're saving $60/month. Wish we'd done this $1,320 ago when we moved in.

    Reception & price

The Channel Master antenna, mast, and 75 ft coax installed in 2 hrs. Once I programed my HD Samsung TV, I received 28 stations many of them in HD. I would recommend this product to anyone. Additionally, the on line "Antenna Fools" website to determine the line of HD TV towers was very valuable.....good product and good service. It's what I've come to expect from Crutchfield....thanks for your support !!!! Dick

    Good antenna

Written By TucsonRob, Tucson,AZ on Wednesday, April 18, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I spent a lot of time trying to find an antenna that would pick up all digital TV channels (upper VHF plus full UHF) and also pick up FM radio, while also being unobtrusive. This is the only one I found that met all the requirements. I'm about 20 miles line-of-site from the transmitter towers. This antenna pulls in strong signals on all of the local channels. It clamped to my existing satellite dish mount and works great.
    Pros:
Covers all digital TV and FM channels. Small enough to be unobtrusive.
    Cons:
    none

    perfect picture

Written By ronnie, spring tx on Saturday, February 11, 2012
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this because my terk powered antenna sometimes would pick up channels and sometimes wouldn't, I have a 1 bdr and I put this upstairs in my apartment and hung it from the ceiling and even though I bought a amp for it i didn't amp it yet and get every channel, even though it goes through about 15-20 feet of cable and it picks up every channel crystal clear with no problems. Channels that I always had problems with the amped terk antenna now come in perfect no more moving and moving and moving. I looked around and this is a really great deal for the price I have used a lot of different antennas and this is the best one yet for even a cheaper price. I would refer this antenna to anyone. The only thing is if you used this outside I would get a little tube of silicon to put on the assembled wings you screw on so no water gets inside of the body but that is about it. Out of 1-10 I would rate this antenna a perfect 20.
    Pros:
Great picture, light weight easy to assemble, slim design perfect for low spaces or little room
    Cons:
    Can't find any yet
