Pioneer

Our take on the Pioneer CD-IB100ii iPod® Interface Adapter

You've loaded your music library onto your iPodĀ®, now take it to go. Pioneer's CD-IB100ii iPod interface adapter makes it easy and convenient to connect your iPod to a compatible Pioneer stereo, so you can listen to music files through your mobile audio system.

For starters, the CD-IB100ii allows you to control iPod playback right from your Pioneer's faceplate. You'll be able to scroll through your playlists and pick out the tracks you want to hear, while leaving your iPod stored safely out of the way. The interface will even let you use the touchscreen on select Pioneer stereos and video screens to manage the iPod.

The adapter sends song and artist information directly to your radio's display for easy navigation between tracks. If your stereo has an Organic EL display, you'll get multiple lines of information for album, artist, and song name. The CD-IB100ii also recharges the iPod's battery while it's connected, while a pass-through port on the adapter accommodates another Pioneer component like a satellite radio or a CD changer.

Compatibility Note: Be sure to check "Hands-on Research" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.

Installed in a 2000 Chevy Astro w/ Pioneer DEH-P77DH

Written By Richard, Lakewood,CA on Wednesday, June 25, 2008

I purchased the Pioneer i-pod interface adapter along with the the new
Pioneer DEH-P77DH both were easy to install per Crutchfield's intructions.

both work great together. no problems, easy to operate. the only thing
that disapointed me which is because the DEH-P77DH is an older model and
has limited line of character on the screen so if its a song with a long name
it will be cut short. But hey, thats no biggie to be cause everything else is
great.

Pioneer iPod Interface (CD-IB100ii) Shortcut

Written By T, Detroit on Monday, December 25, 2006

I had heard great things about the sound quality of this interface, but I was nervous about purchasing it product because I had heard HORROR stories about the navigation aspect. Then I learned of a "by-pass" method that allows you to control the iPod directly, without having to navigate through the head unit.

I have only tried this with my set up (Pioneer DEH - P47DH head unit, CD-IB100ii interface, and 30GB Video iPod). Here's the trick... before turning the car on, press the menu button on the iPod. It should go from the charging screen to the main menu screen. Then put the iPod on hold. Next, turn the car on. The iPod should go back to the charge screen (or the Pioneer screen). Turn the hold off, and then press menu. The iPod should go back to the main menu screen and allow you to navigate through the iPod directly.

I have read a few other methods to by-passing the navigation through the head unit, so you may need to experiment your specific set-up. A few other short cuts I read on the internet have you unplugging the iPod from the interface, letting it shut down by itself (putting it on pause and waiting a minute for it to auto-turn-off), using the hold/lock button on the iPod, etc...

Regardless, you should be able to by-pass the factory settings and control it yourself.

Great with DEG-7800MP

I love this thing. It works great with my DEH-7800MP. I do not find the lag to be a problem probably because i only have 6G of music and they are all full albums so my number of artists is low. The sounds of this thing hooked up to my cd player really rivals CD's. I was using a tape adapter before this so it's a big step up. The cord is also plenty long to run up into my armrest.

Works great, not too bad of an install, directions made it simple. Delivery was extremely fast. Pricing reasonable. Item in stock when other places do not carry anything near it. Why buy elsewhere? These are the reasons I keep coming back!

Adapter was very easy to install. Works perfectly with the DEH 6800MP. 50 bucks is not a bad price and it sounds awesome.

For what it is it works well for my older unit. (8600)
It's not as slow as what i keep reading about, but it's not as fast as using the ipod itself. Sound is great! My only gripe is that it only shows 8 characters of the song on my unit, but then again, i'm using an older model. My buddy has it on his 7800 and works great.

Different than iPod controls but still good

Written By Todd S, Greensboro, NC on Tuesday, February 27, 2007

I installed this to use with a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP after reading through countless customer reviews.

Many people say that it is a slow control and getting to an artist/song/album near the end of the alphabet takes forever. Well, I always browse by genre first and this helps a lot. Also, if you turn the wheel counter-clockwise, you can scroll by reverse, meaning you start in the z's first.

Yes, if you spin it wildly it will take a minute to catch up, but to me, it hasn't seemed like a big deal so far.

The sound quality is amazing. Sounds better than the headphones in my opinion.

Some people also said that it is confusing to learn. Well, I read about 2-3 pages of the instructions and quickly got the hang of it. Not a big deal. They are actually very close to the iPod controls.

Yes, this is not as fast and responsive as the iPod controls, but in my humble opinion, it is a small price to pay for great sound quality and ease of use (sure beats looking down to change songs).

I would buy a Pioneer product again as I am very satisfied with the quality and ease of use.

Pioneer CD-IB100ii iPod® Interface Adapter

Written By John, Charlottesville, VA on Thursday, January 10, 2008

I received this adapter after it was back ordered, iPods must be a popular gift this year.

The sound quality is amazing, I didn't think my stereo could sound this good for so little money. I have a cheep Pioneer head unit ( Pioneer DEH-P4800MP ), a 500 watt sub woofer, MB Quart mid/tweeters, and the new iPod Nano 8Gb's. I don't see any lag in the controls, but the display only shows 20 characters. Controls work as they should, up on the control pad goes to the next artist and left or right changes songs, band button changes genres. The head unit plays mp3 tracks so data CDs with mp3 files sounded better than normal CD's, but the iPod tops anything I've heard before iPods interfaces.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Crutchfield Customer Review

The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order.

The installation was simple; find a power point, find a ground point, plug the unit into your head unit, and route the I-pod cord. The wires for all of this are plenty long to accomplish what you need. I have had problems in the past with accessories having short wires which limit the placement of the accessory. However every wire on this unit more then suits your needs. I have a 2006 Ford F-150 and the wires are long enough to mount the unit anywhere behind the dash. I was even thinking of having the I-pod mounted in the console in the bench seat. Needless to say, you can mount this unit anywhere and you can mount/locate your I-pod anywhere.

As far as controls, browsing your songs and playlists isn't any slower then using your I-pod. I found it to be about the same, but maybe I am used to taking my time. I have never tried searching for one particular song within one particular playlist. If that was the case, then yes maybe it's a bit slow. But other then that, I don't see how it is slower then the I-pod. As others have mentioned, I do wish your place would be saved when you go back to look at playlists. Or at least start with the song that is currently playing. It is rather annoying, but since the I-pod does the exact same thing you can't really fault Pioneer. And this wouldn't keep me from buying the unit.

In summary, the unit was easy to install, it provided many installation options, and it
