Overview: The Wadia 171iTransport is specifically designed to
transform your iPod, iPhone, or iPad into a high-resolution audio/video media
server. The iTransport combines the convenience of personal audio with the
performance and connectivity of your home audio/video system, delivering
bit-perfect digital audio signal via S/PDIF coaxial or optical output, DVD
quality video via component outputs, and built on a sleek aluminum chassis. The
171iTransport allows you to experience true audiophile sound quality and
superior video performance by integrating your iPod, iPhone, or iPad into your
home Audio/Video system.
Aluminum Chassis: The Wadia 171iTransport is built on a
precision-engineered aluminum chassis for exceptional performance and
durability. The unit is also supported by four vibration absorbing isolation
cones.
High-Quality Circuit Boards & Clock Circuitry: The Wadia
171iTransport utilizes premium-grade circuit boards and advanced clocking
circuitry for dynamic, transparent, detailed sound with less jitter distortion.
True-Bit Digital Audio: The 171iTransport bypasses the
digital-to-analog conversion and analog output stage from your iPod, iPhone, or
iPad when connected via digital coax/optical. By providing a pure digital audio
output from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad, the 170iTransport enables performance
that is only limited by the resolution of your audio files stored on the iPod/iPhone,
and the overall quality of your audio system. In other words, the 170iTransport
makes it possible to achieve true audiophile performance from your iPod, iPhone,
or iPad.
Note: Wadia recommends storing music on your iPod/iPhone
in the highest bit rate for optimum sonic performance. Storing music files
at higher bit rates will require substantially more storage space on your
computer and iPod/iPhone, however, the sonic improvement is self-evident.
The highest available quality is achieved by importing music into iTunes as
WAV files. Another good option for storing music in iTunes is Apple
Lossless.
iPod/iPhone Dock: The 171iTransport is fitted with a top-panel
iPod/iPhone dock connector to connect your iPod/iPhone device. The 171iTransport is
compatible with iPod classic (80/120/160GB), iPod nano (2nd/3rd/4th/5th/6th gen),
iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen), and iPhone (2G/3G/3GS/4).
Note: The 171Transport includes the
following iPod/iPhone dock adapter inserts - iPod video
(for the Classic), iPod nano (3rd gen), iPod nano (4th
gen), iPod touch (2nd gen), and iPhone 3G, If your
iPod or iPhone does not already come with an iPod/iPhone
adapter insert, it is highly recommend you purchase one
from the Apple Store for a proper fit.
iPhone/iPad Adapter Cable: For optimum iPhone antenna performance,
the 171iTransport comes with an adaptor that includes a tethered cable so the iPhone
(2G/3G/3GS/4) can be connected while outside the aluminum chassis. This also allows
for connection with your iPad.
S/PDIF Digital Output: The 171iTransport is equipped with
a digital coaxial output and a optical digital output that connects your iPod,
iPhone, or iPad to your AV receiver.
High-Resolution Component Video Output: There is a high-resolution
component video output which lets you playback videos and photos stored on your iPod,
iPhone, or iPad on your connected television.
Note: The Wadia 171iTransport only acts
as a high-performance pass-thru for video signals. Picture
performance is limited to the quality of the material stored
on your iPod/iPhone.
No Song/Artist Information: Song/artist information and Album
cover art will not be displayed on your connected AV receiver's LCD screen
or TV screen. Song/artist information and Album cover art will still need to be
viewed from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad's screen.
Wireless Remote Control: The 171iTransport comes supplied
with an IR (infrared) remote control that allows music and video navigation of
your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. You can also continue to control your Apple device
from its clickwheel or touchscreen. The following functions can be controlled by
the included IR remote.
- Menu Navigation and Selection
- Play/Pause
- Fast Forward/Reverse Track
- Skip Track (Previous/Next)
- Skip Album (Previous/Next)
- Skip Playlist (Previous/Next)
- Shuffle (On/Off)
Note: Although the remote has volume and
mute buttons, they are not functional for this unit.
Power Supply With Charging Capability: The Wadia 171iTransport
operates on standard household AC current using the supplied external AC power
adapter and detachable power cord. The 171iTransport will charge your compatible
iPod or iPhone while docked. The 717iTransport will not
charge the iPad.
iPod/iPhone Compatibility Chart: The Wadia 171iTransport is
"Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible. The unit allows audio/video playback,
control, and charging of select iPods, iPhones, and iPads. The Wadia 171iTransport
is compatible with the following iPod, iPhones, and iPads (as of May 2011):
