Broad Soundstage: The NHT Classic Absolute Zero bookshelf
loudspeaker offers a tight, deep bass performance & an open, natural midrange
with crystal-clear highs from a broad seating area.
2-Way Design: The NHT Classic Absolute Zero bookshelf loudspeaker employs a
2-way speaker design with a single 1" aluminum dome tweeter and one 5.25"
polypropylene woofer.
- 1" Aluminum Dome Tweeter: The Classic Absolute Zero uses a very
sophisticated 1" ferro-fluid cooled, anodized aluminum dome tweeter in a tiny bezel that features a very
small, yet powerful neodymium magnet. This small bezel allows us to position
the tweeter and midrange/woofer driver as close together as possible to get
very even on and off axis response.
- 5.25" Polypropylene Woofer: It uses a long-throw 5.25"
polypropylene cone midrange/woofer. The woofer frame was designed entirely
in-house by NHT using F.E.A. (Finite Element Analysis), and is made using a
proprietary BMC (bulk moulding compound) frame, which has the high strength
and low resonance of a much more expensive cast magnesium alloy frame.
Acoustical Waveguide: The Classic Absolute Zero's tweeter utilizes
an acoustical waveguide to deliver, more even high frequency response, no matter
what part of the room you're in.
"Wonder Bar": The Wonder Bar is a cooling/mounting bar
assembly for the tweeter. It secures the tweeter from the back of the cabinet,
while cooling the tweeter, and provides another cabinet brace. The Wonder Bar
is a solid aluminum bar about 5.5" x 0.75". This design allows NHT to tuck the
tweeter tightly between the mid-range drivers which provides great horizontal
dispersion, excellent articulation, and high power handling.
Crossover Network: The Classic Absolute Zero uses a sophisticated
3rd order crossover that was developed using computer (and human ear) aided
design to carefully split the frequencies between the midrange/woofer and
tweeter at just the right spot (3.0 kHz / 18 dB).
Voice Matched: The Classic Absolute Zero mates with every
speaker in the NHT Classic or Absolute speaker line-up. Most typically for a
satellite/subwoofer system, the Absolute Zero will be mated to the NHT Classic
B-10d subwoofer (228B10D,
sold separately). If you are considering
building a home theater system, match the Absolute Zero with the
Absolute Centeror the
Classic TwoC center channel speaker
(both sold separately). The Classic Absolute Zero
also makes a great surround speaker for the NHT
Absolute Towers
(sold separately).
Enclosure Design
Acoustic Suspension: The NHT Classic Absolute Zero features an
Acoustic suspension design (sealed enclosure with no ports or holes in the
cabinet). The Classic Absolute Zero uses the air that is trapped in the cabinet to
control and damp the woofer cone motion. The benefits of an acoustic suspension
cabinet design include -
- tight, accurate bass
- smooth, natural midrange
- low distortion
- high power handling
- smooth bass rolloff (an important benefit when blending speakers with a
powered subwoofer seamlessly)
MDF Cabinet: The Classic Absolute Zero's cabinet is very robust, and
uses MDF for all surfaces, and dual internal braces. The cabinet is (computer
controlled) CNC-milled from 25mm MDF (for the front baffle) and 12mm MDF (for
the sides and internal bracing) for rigidity and resonance control.
Curved Side-Panels: The cabinet's curved side panels help to
randomize internal standing waves, which improves overall sound quality.
High-Gloss Black Finish: A hand-painted finish with 2 primer
coats, 7 color coats, and 2 clear coats producing a beautiful piano quality
high-gloss, black or white finish.
Detachable Grille: The speaker comes with a removable cloth grille with a rigid plastic frame.
Connections
5-Way Binding Posts: The bookshelf loudspeaker is equipped
with one pair of sturdy nickel-plated 5-way binding posts to ensure a secure
connection to many types of speaker cables and connectors. The binding post
terminals will accept banana plugs (dual/single), pin-connectors,
spade-connectors, and bare wire (up to 10AWG).
Color-Coded: The 5-way binding post terminals are
color-coded so you can easily indentify positive (red) and negative (black).
Mounting Options
Applications: The Classic Absolute Zero is a great choice
for stereo, distributed audio, and home theater systems.
Placement: The NHT Classic Absolute Zero can be placed on stands, on
shelves, or hung on the wall. Given the high performance of this model, NHT
recommends placement on either stands or on a shelf at close to ear level and
equal distance from your listening position to
achieve maximum fidelity.
Feet Rails: If you decide to place the speaker on a stand or
shelf, the included feet rails must be attached to the bottom of the speaker
(hardware included).
Wall Mounting: The optional PinPoint heavy duty side-grip
wall-mounting bracket (121AM40B,
sold separately) can be used to wall mount the speakers.
