Our take on the Hoya UV HMC Filter

by Tara W.

This Hoya filter attaches to the front of your lens. You can leave this type of filter on at all times to protect an expensive lens from minor bumps and scratches. It also absorbs UV light, which can make outdoor photos appear hazy. A special coating reduces flare and ghosting.

Highlights:

  • glass lens filter
  • fits most lenses with 62mm thread diameter
  • protects lens from bumps, scratches, and dust
  • multi-layer coatings reduce ghost images and flare
  • absorbs UV light in outdoor photos
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

    Hoya UV HMC Filter

Written By Will, Seminole, FL on Saturday, May 25, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This filter was cheaper than others and I had concerns about it's quality. I have done extensive testing and found no loss of image quality and actually some improvements. This filter is here to stay. Also thickness is not too big.
    Pros:
protects lens. Thin. improves image quality
    Cons:
    none I can think of.

Lol, it works. Threads fit. It protects my lens. No distortion or other artifacts.
    Pros:
    It works
    Cons:
It isn't faster, bigger, or better than any other. Does not come with a cup holder.

2nd filter I purchased like this. Good product and great Crutchfield service as always. Just a shame that alot of optics manufacturers are moving out of Japan, but still has Hoya filter quality.

they will send you the wrong filter

Written By disappointed, California on Friday, August 05, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wish I had read the reviews, I ordered the uv(0) filter made in Japan AS SHOWN, and was sent the uv(c) filter made in the Philippines. They responded to another reviewer that the photo had been changed to reflect the ACTUAL PRODUCT, but it clearly has not.

[Editor's Note: Due to an anomoly, the standard process did not remove the picture. It has been removed now. ]

    Different filter

Written By Disappointed, Rochester, MN on Wednesday, July 20, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Be careful. The picture clearly shows the Hoya HMC UV(0) filter which is a great filter but at this time they only send the Hoya HMC UV(C) filter and that is all they have. The UV(C) filter is a cheaper filter. Don't fall for this.

[Editor's Note: We have updated our photo presentation to show the UV(C) filter.]

    Hoya UV HMC Filter

Written By Edmond B., Glendale, CA. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

One of the best dual purpose filters for a reasonable price. This filter keeps your
precious lens clean while enhances the image. I have used Hoya brand for many years
and will continue to do so.
