Technology: Laser imaging research allows Polk to observe the resonances of
different cone materials. Polk engineers have used laser imaging techniques to find the
right combination of materials, geometry and construction needed to tune out response
distorting resonances. The result is excellent bass and smooth, clear midrange response.
Woofer materials: The
mineral filled polymer composite woofer cones produce clear, well-defined midrange output
and accurate bass. The polymer/mica composite woofer cone material improves woofer
performance by damping performance robbing resonances. The cone material is extremely
durable, so it will withstand the temperature and humidity extremes of your vehicle's
Surround: The polymer/rubber surrounds are co-molded with the cones to prevent
the surround from separating from the cone. This type of surround is extremely durable and
helps provide superior bass response.
The 1" dome tweeters are made with a blue tri-laminate silk composite diaphragm. This
combination of tweeter materials results in more accurate response, superior detail and
high power handling. Each tweeter is made with a small, but powerful, neodymium magnet to
keep the size of the tweeters small enough to allow a variety of mounting options.
3 Tweeter Mounting
Options: This system includes mounting parts and hardware for flush tweeter
mounting, surface tweeter mounting and angled surface tweeter mounting. In all three
mounting configurations, the tweeters can be pivoted to "aim" their output for
the best high frequency response and soundstaging.
Selectable Tweeter Output
Level: Each crossover has a 3-position switch that allows you to select the
tweeter output level according to system requirements and personal preference. The switches may be set to
"-3dB", "0dB" or "+3dB" to tailor the tweeter output level
according to personal preference.
The included crossovers provide high pass filtered output to the tweeters and low pass
filtered output to the woofers. Each crossover contains a jumper that sets the low pass
filter roll off; the low pass filter roll off may be set to 6dB/octave or 12dB/octave.
When the tweeter will be right next to the woofer, the low pass roll off should be set to
6dB/octave. If the tweeter will be more than 6-inches away from the woofer, the low pass
roll off should be set to 12dB/octave. The high pass filter is fixed at 4800Hz with
a 12dB/octave roll off.
There are two mounting holes in the base of each crossover; screws to mount the crossovers
are not supplied. The crossovers are not weather proof, so they should not be mounted in
locations, such as door panels, that will expose them to direct contact with water.
Gold Plated Terminals: The
speaker and crossover terminals are gold plated for corrosion resistance.
Angled Surface Mount
