The Kappa 62.7 6-1/2" speaker features a super-stiff woofer cone to minimize flexing that can cause distortion. The Plus One cone design offers a larger surface area than other 6-1/2" speakers, for improved bass output and efficiency. The woofer's powerful, compact neodymium magnets weigh much less than traditional magnets — a nice feature when you're trying to save weight in a high-performance vehicle.

Infinity uses the same type of tweeter found in many of their popular home speakers, so you'll hear the music the way it was recorded, with minimal coloration or distortion. The tweeter also pivots, so you can adjust its output for a perfect stereo image.

The computer-optimized outboard crossover employs audiophile-grade components to separate highs and lows so that the woofer and tweeter work together perfectly. A tweeter level control allows you to tailor the tweeter's response for perfect balance.

    Features

    Plus One Woven-Glass-Fiber Woofer Cones: The Plus One speakers use cones approximately 30% larger than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency.

    Woven-Glass-Fiber Woofer Cones: This woven-glass-fiber material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex. This results in very low distortion and improved clarity.

    Motor Structure: The new Kappas use a Neodymium motor structure with an integrated heat sink. This design provides a massive amount of energy while minimizing mounting depth and magnet diameter. The integrated heat sink cools the motor structure efficiently, thus increasing power handling while reducing distortion.

    Edge Driven MMD Dome Tweeters: Each speaker has an Edge-driven MMD (Metal Matrix Diaphragm) dome tweeter. The benefit is increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output. This technology also allows for better integration with the mid/woofer. The tweeter has an adjustable output level, +0 dB (flat) and +3 dB.

    UniPivot Tweeter: The tweeter is angled and can be rotated about 270° after installation. This allows you to direct the tweeters toward the listeners, very useful for speakers mounted low in a door.

    SLI High-Output Design: This high output 2 ohm design extracts every watt from today's amplifiers and hi powered receivers, increasing overall system output and efficiency (relative to 4 ohm speakers).

    Crossovers: Kappa speakers include computer-optimized, voice-matched crossovers, using audiophile quality air core inductors and polypropylene capacitors.

    Crossover Connections: Each crossover has a 12" input lead terminated with bare wire and two 20" output leads, one for the woofer and one for the tweeter, terminated with female quick-slides. The female quick-slides connect to the male quick-slides on the speaker. The positive terminal on the woofer is 0.248" and the negative is 0.191". The positive terminal on the tweeter is 0.205" and the negative is 0.111".

    Crossover Dimensions: L=3.615", W=1.735", H=1.075"

    Intermount III: Infinity's Intermount III mounting system allows the 62.7i speakers to fit a variety of 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" applications. Two adapter rings are included for each speaker.

    I installed these as replacements for the front door speakers in my truck using an otherwise completely stock system. The clarity compared to before is AMAZING. The only thing I'm a bit disappointed about is the lack of bass down low, but I was aware of this common Infinity trait before buying them. That being said, these would be the PERFECT match for a nice subwoofer. However, as long as you don't listen to R&B of hip-hop all the time, these work great for just about any music.

    I purchased these speakers because they are a direct replacement for my OEM rear deck speakers. I am also a believer in Infiniti speakers, as I have always loved the sound quality they have given me. I was not disappointed this time either. The accuracy is great, the range is wonderful considering that this is a fairly small speaker. Very efficient. I am a happy customer.

    Infiniti Kappas NEVER disappoint you

    Infiniti Kappas will NEVER disappoint you unless you make a mistake during installation. They sound so crisp and tight with decent low end for a 6.5" woofer. The best punchy bass for their size.

    Unlike past Kappas that I've used, these are MORE efficient than even OEM speakers so they don't need a separate amp to get the volume. PLUS the frequency response of these Kappas is so good that I can leave my head-unit's bass at 0 which allows me to turn it up more before the amplifier starts to distort.

    Ignore the comments about magnet size. These use neodymium magnets (1/20 size of standard ferrite). They fit the entire magnet inside the voice coil, making it more linear and leaving room for the heat sink on the outside.

    These fit perfectly in a 2001 Nissan Altima. Its a direct bolt-in fit for both front and rear. If they forget to send the connector adapters, the black wire of every factory connector goes to the black of the speaker wiring.

    If you follow "speaker basics", Kappas always sound phenomenal. Basic #1: polarity - pay attention to which wire goes to black and which goes to red. Basic #2: sealing/isolating the woofer front from the back - all the air from the back of the woofer must remain behind it and never come out to where you sit. That rear sound wave will cancel the front if allowed to escape to the inside of the car. Violate any of the two basics above, and the low freqs will be severely reduced.

    These speakers produce a very clean crisp high, but do not produce a low that even compares with the stock paper speakers. I am still using the factory deck, so unless you plan on pushing these with some power, I would consider some different ones. The crossover was also an unexpected problem I had to find a mounting spot for. In the end I pulled them out, sold them to someone who was running an amp, and sales advisor Brooke was kind enough to assist me in choosing speakers that would produce the deeper lows and clean highs I seek with a factory deck. Thanks again Brooke

    These speakers have great sound and excellent looks. Just by opening the box you can see and feel the weight and quality. Speakers come with a crossover to send the correct frequencies to both the tweeter and woofer. These speakers have excellent highs and mediocre lows. The tweeters come with a +3 db switch that might not even be needed because the highs are already so much better than the average speaker. The bass is average, but you can't expect a ton of bass from a speaker of this size. There have been a lot of comments concerning the bass from these speakers, don't let those keep you from purchasing. I am considering purchasing more speakers for my other vehicle!

    Love the Kappa's! Replaced my factory door and dash speakers with the Kappa 62.7i and 32.7cf respectively. My rear deck speakers used to overpower my front speakers but no longer. The highs are incredibly clear and with the integrated crossover you can crank the volume without fear of blowing the speakers with the low freqs. With Crutchfield's great prices I was able to upgrade from my factory speakers for a little over $100 and improve the sound ten-fold.

    This is my first set of Kappas after owning several sets of Reference series. I must say when opening the package I had mixed feelings. The magnet seemed awfully small. Which I know that doesn't mean much today, but in the old days that said a lot for the speaker.

    The cones woven build looked very nice. I liked the adjustability of the tweeter as well. The small seperate crossovers also gave the appearence of a higher end speaker.

    They installed very well, needing none of the adapters included. I am running them on an amp right at the max of their RMS rating.

    So far I have been very pleased. Initially I had one wired to the wrong channel and was putting a little more wattage thant rated at RMS and did hear some distortion, but this is to be expected.

    They have produced very solid mids and highs and are a great complement to my other speakers which consist of Reference Comonents in the front and a 10" sub in the rear.

    Although I didn't get to use them in my application the grilles are very nice and would look great in a custom car.

    these speakers are great. also bought 6x9 reference 3-ways 2 years ago. have put both sets in 2 different cars (98 cirrus 01 civic lx). have never failed me. always clear no matter how bad my ears are bleeding. will never go against buying from infinity from now on!! recommend to anyone

    I'm very happy with these speakers, especially after trying other brand first. Without going in to much of the details -

    I bought these after 2-day struggle with installation of Blaupunkt's 6 1/2 component speakers. These are much easier to mount, thanks to the Infinity's included adapter plates. They DO fit 2007 Honda Accord LX sedan's front doors, when Blaupunkt's did not align properly and site suggested they would fit fine. So, use your own judgment too.

    Regardless, thanks to great support from Crutchfied, I've got old ones returned (one of Blaupunkt's woofers was defective right out of the box) and ordered these instead. I have to say - they do require high-current amplifier in order to get them sound right. You probably would not see a difference if you just connect these to the headunit alone, as you would only get highs with no almost lows. Situation changes completely with the amplifier added to the picture.

    I also have Infinity's Kappa 6x9s in on the back, plus 75x4 (300/4) JL Audio amplifier in the trunk and together system sounds awesome. I'm debating if I need a subwoofer at this point, as I get enough bass without it... but that depends on the quality of recording, of course. Good luck.

    Took a good amount of time to install these in the vehicle, and Guess what... It was all for nothing! The right side is already buzzing, and neither speaker produces a Low worth recognizing, I have tried adjusting them, and double checked all connections to make sure I had installed the wires right, because of the crossovers that had to be added in. My personal opinion, these speakers are lacking if what you are looking for is something that is durable, and that will produce lows that you can recognize.



    Good part: If you get a decent pair, that isn't already buzzing, the highs and mids are excellent. but not lows.

    Infinity Kappa 62.7i

    This is my first set of aftermarket 6.5 inch speakers. I've used infinity subs and 6x9's in the past and loved them. The kappa 62.7i's are running off a pioneer head unit and pioneer 4channel 150 watt rms amplifier. As with pretty much all aftermarket speakers the more power you can supply, the better they will sound.

    The kappa's utilize a 2-ohm impedence which means they will extract twice the wattage from the power source as a typical 4-ohm speaker (in theory). So be careful to use an amplifier that is 2 ohm capable, most are.

    The high's are perfect and adjustable by turning the actual tweeter. after a few weeks in my car the low's and mid's seemed to pick up quite a bit as they broke in. Bass is punchy and tight, great if you also have a subwoofer.

    I would recommend these to anyone with a good aftermarket head unit or anyone with an external amp. Without enough power they do not live up to their price tag.

    i have an infinity kappa component system with the 2-ways added to my rear doors connected to a kenwood excellon kdc-x891,jbl amps power the speakers and jbl sub-woofer.these speakers handle so much power and are crystal clear even at loud volumes. i havent been able to turn it all the way up,its so loud and distortion free.i cant believe how great it sounds.i want my home system to sound this good.5 star rating,two thumbs up and a big pat on the back for the kappas.......wow!

    Awesome Sound, but Fragile

    I was really excited about mounting these in my 2005 Acura TSX. Things sounded awesome for a couple of months, and then I started to hear some buzzing. I took one of the door panels back off and found the tweeter had disconnected itself and was just hanging out the front of the assembly by its wires. I ordered another pair as a replacement, and that speaker fell apart while I was installing it. Not good.

    I put two of these in the doors of my 93 Celica convertible. They are powered by a Profile AP 600, which puts out 150 RMS at 2 OHMs per channel so the speakers have plenty of power. I wanted something that would be loud and clear at 70 MPH with the top down. This setup provides all i was looking for and more. The highs are clear and the bass is tight too. Before I installed this system, I was running the 13-year-old stock system, which sounded okay but needed work. First I tried running four, 4" polk audio db400s and a couple of tweeters off a head unit putting out 22 RMS per channel; it sounded better than the stock system but i was not happy with it either. The highs sounded better but the lows were not there and it still was not loud enough. The next step was the kappas and the amp. Things are loud and clear now with nice highs and plenty of bass. I recommend these to anybody that wants a simple, straightforward system that provides great sound quality and volume especially if installation options and funds are limited. I am now firmly convinced you need power to have clarity.

    I was a little nervous about having strangers take apart the door panels and wiring of my new Toyota Prius but everything worked out fine. The Infinity Kappa 62.7i speakers work really well for the Prius offering superior sound quality over the factory-installed stock speakers.
