Features
High Efficiency Design: The Polk Audio DXi Series speakers
feature a high efficiency design; meaning better sound and more volume using
less power.
Dynamic Balance Driver Technology: Dynamic Balance is
a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what
combination of speaker materials create the least resonance. Eliminating
resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low
distortion.
Klippel Optimized Components: For a driver to reproduce
complex sounds accurately, the cone must move exactly the same distance and
manner in both directions. The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses
a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in
motion, lets Polk optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment,
and suspension to yield the best possible performance.
Composite Cones: Each Polk DXi 650 speaker features a
Dynamic Balance, polymer/mica composite cone woofer. These composite cones
feature tremendous stiffness-to mass ratio. Lower mass means faster transients
and finer detail.
Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved
durability, the speaker uses rubber surrounds.
Silk Dome Tweeters: Each Polk DXi 650 speaker features a
3/4" silk/polymer dome tweeter for clear, accurate highs. They can be
angled slightly within the housing to compensate for off axis mounting. The tweeters
also employ a
light-weight neodymium magnet for higher efficiency.
Mounting: Out of the box the DXi 650 is a direct replacement
for many standard 6-3/4" applications. Two mounting brackets are included with
holes matching standard 6-1/2" (3-hole), Ford 6-1/2" (asymmetrical 4-hole),
and various 6-3/4" applications. Without using the mounting brackets the speaker
also fits into many standard 6-1/2" openings, but with a four hole pattern is
not a direct replacement (new screw holes would need to be drilled; in this
instance mounting depth would be 1.986" and mounting height 0.866"; this
application does not sort in the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector because using the
mounting bracket requires no modification, and is therefore the preferred 6-1/2"
mounting method).
